Saiyaara Box Office Collection: Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's debut film Saiyaara is showing no signs of slowing down. Directed by Mohit Suri, the romantic drama has delivered a stunning performance at the box office, crossing the Rs 150 crore mark globally within just four days of release.
After a strong opening weekend, the film held remarkably steady on its first Monday, earning Rs 24 crore. That pushed the India net total to Rs 108 crore, with a gross of Rs 128 crore.
The international box office is picking up too. Saiyaara has collected over Rs 23 crore overseas by Monday, bringing its worldwide total to Rs 151 crore. The film has now outperformed the lifetime earnings of Kesari Chapter 2 (Rs 144 crore) and Sky Force (Rs 146 crore), both starring Akshay Kumar. That's a huge feat for a film led by newcomers.
But one of the most talked-about milestones is Saiyaara surpassing the worldwide total of Aashiqui 2. Released in 2013, Mohit Suri's Aashiqui 2 became an instant sensation and one of the most successful romantic films of its time. Starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, the film struck a deep emotional chord with audiences thanks to its tragic love story and chart-topping soundtrack. Songs like Tum Hi Ho and Sunn Raha Hai became cultural phenomena, playing on loop across radio stations and wedding playlists alike. Made on a modest budget of Rs 15 crore, the film went on to earn over Rs 110 crore worldwide, turning both its leads into overnight stars and cementing Mohit Suri's place as one of Bollywood's go-to directors for intense love stories.
While Saiyaara has already gone beyond that number, it still has ground to cover in terms of profitability. Aashiqui 2 was made on a modest Rs 15 crore budget, while Saiyaara reportedly cost Rs 50 crore to make. To match Aashiqui 2's profit margin, it would need to earn over a whopping Rs 380 crore globally.
Still, there's no denying that Saiyaara has struck a chord with audiences. With strong word of mouth and sustained collections, this debut film is shaping up to be one of the biggest box office stories of the year.
