Katie Ledecky, Summer McIntosh face off in 800m free: How to watch 2025 World Championship

Katie Ledecky has dominated the women's 800-meter freestyle for more than a decade, winning gold in the event in four consecutive Olympic Games and six consecutive World Championships. But Canadian teen sensation Summer McIntosh is on her tail, setting up a massive showdown at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore. Both Ledecky and McIntosh come into Saturday's event in top form. Ledecky broke her own 800m world record in May at the 2025 TYR Pro Swim Series in Fort Lauderdale with a time of 8:04.12. A month later, McIntosh set a national record in the 800m with a time of 8:05.07 at the 2025 Canadian Swimming Trials in June, where she also broke three world records in the 400m freestyle, 200m individual medley and 400m individual medley. Will Ledecky, the most decorated female swimmer in history, continue her reign in the event? Or will McIntosh, the up-and-coming generational talent, dethrone the American veteran? We'll find out Saturday when Ledecky, 28, and McIntosh, 18, face off in the 800m final on Saturday at the Singapore Sports Hub. MORE: Katie Ledecky claims gold in 1500-meter freestyle at World Aquatics Championships McIntosh won the first head-to-head with Ledecky at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships earlier this week. McIntosh raced to gold in the 400-meter freestyle (3:56.26), finishing over two seconds faster than bronze medalist Ledecky (3:58.49). McIntosh also won gold in the 200m butterfly and 200m medley, while Ledecky won gold in the 1500m freestyle and silver in the 4 × 200m freestyle relay. Five other finals will be held on Saturday, including the 200m backstroke final, featuring the 2024 Paris Olympic gold medalist, Australian Kaylee McKeown, and silver medalist, American Regan Smith. How to watch Australia vs British & Irish Lions Test 3: Live stream rugby for FREE

The Wallabies' reputation sits in tatters, but things could yet get worse. Not only have they already lost the series, but to the tourists' delight they're making excuses too. The final Test of the Lions tour offers Joe Schmidt's men one final chance to salvage some pride, though they'll have to do so without the influential Rob Valetini. You can watch Australia vs Lions Test 3 live streams from anywhere with a VPN and potentially for FREE. The Australia vs Lions Test 3 live stream takes place on Saturday, August 2.• Time: 6 a.m. ET / 3 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. BST / 8 p.m. AEST• FREE STREAM — 9Now (Australia)• U.S. — CBS via Fubo or Paramount Plus• U.K. — Sky Sports• Watch anywhere — try NordVPN 100% risk free For an idea of Valetini's impact: he only played the first half of last week's game. Australia went into the interval 23-17 up; they went on to lose 26-29, courtesy of a last-gasp Hugo Keenan try that was controversial only to the Wallabies. Carlo Tizzano reacted to a Jac Morgan clearout in contentious fashion, flinging himself to the ground in a desperate flop that might have shamed a soccer player. Schmidt's taken him out of the firing line for Saturday's clash at Stadium Australia, where Nic White will start at scrum-half on his final international outing. Making his first appearance of the series is Taniela Tupou, who at nearly 150kg should at least make up for Valetini in terms of sheer physicality. Somewhat surprisingly, Morgan is once more on the bench for the Lions, who have switched James Lowe and Ollie Chessum out for Blair Kinghorn and James Ryan. With Sione Tuipulotu still injured, Andy Farrell has selected Bundee Aki, who's come under fire from fans for his performances so far. L.A. Kings, Alex Laferriere agree to 3-year contract

The Los Angeles Kings and restricted free agent winger Alex Laferriere have agreed to to a three-year contract, according to multiple league sources. Frank Seravalli reported that the new deal has an average annual value of $4.1 million. According to PuckPedia, Laferriere will make $3.5 million in 2025-26 and $4.4 million in 2026-27 and 2027-28. The Kings are expected to announce the deal on Saturday. Advertisement Laferriere played 81 games as a rookie in 2023-24 and built upon that last season with 19 goals and 23 assists in an increased role. His ice time shot up from 13:13 in his first season to 16:32. He finished sixth in goals and seventh in points amid a well-balanced group of top-nine forwards. The Kings are getting him at a good rate, given that the strong-skating Laferriere could continue to improve his offensive numbers if he remains on a line with two of their most skilled forwards, Kevin Fiala and Quinton Byfield. And the three-year term could also set up Laferriere for a much bigger payday if he's able to put up seasons of 25 to 30 goals. In June, Kings general manager Ken Holland said he was out to look for a 'fair deal' on a shorter term with Laferriere and sounded confident about getting him signed before training camp. 'He wants to be here,' Holland said. 'He likes it here. … Real good player, real important player. Guy that can move up the roster. Can play on the third line. He can check. Conscientious. Important guy to this organization.' If he's able to improve on his 9.8 shooting percentage and have a larger presence on the power play, Laferriere could become one of the Kings' top offensive producers. His new deal expires with arbitration-eligible RFA status one year before he becomes eligible for unrestricted free agency. The Kings are effectively done with their significant contractual dealings this summer. But they still could lock up star right wing Adrian Kempe, who will be entering his contract year. Kempe, 28, tied for the team lead with 35 goals last season and paced the club with 73 points. He's led the Kings in scoring for the past two seasons, and his 139 goals over the last four seasons are 45 more than the next most prolific scorer on the team. With the salary cap set to rise even further in 2026-27 after jumping to $95.5 million for this season, Kempe is due to cash in after giving the Kings a ton of production on a four-year contract that carries a $5.5 million cap number. Holland said he wanted to get through free agency and Laferriere's contract talks before tackling Kempe's expected big deal, which would start in 2026-27. 'I'm not going to trade him,' Holland said. 'He loves it here. Wants to be here. We want to keep him.'
