Dial-112 plays vital role to address distress calls in TG
In a notable incident, emergency teams successfully prevented a significant fire at a Café Coffee Day in SR Nagar. On 3 July, at 3:37 pm, a distress call to Dial-112 reported the blaze. TGERSS swiftly coordinated with SR Nagar police and the Fire Department, leading to the safe rescue of six individuals and hospitalisation of one injured person, with no fatalities. The fire, which originated on the ground floor and spread upwards, was extinguished within 20 minutes, with preliminary investigations pointing to an electrical short-circuit.
The TGERSS also intervened to avert harassment on the Devagiri Express. On 5 July, an SOS alert via the T-Safe app reported a male passenger photographing and videoing female passengers near Mirzapalli. Dial-112 immediately coordinated with Shankarampet and Kamareddy police, along with GRP Railway Control. The train was intercepted at Kamareddy Railway Station, where officers arrested the accused, confirming the complaint with multiple unauthorised images found on his device.
Furthermore, the system has been instrumental in preventing three suicide attempts. On 7 July, a distress call regarding a woman attempting suicide from the Bahadurpura Flyover prompted immediate action from Dial-112, with Bahadurpura Police reaching the scene within minutes to safely rescue her. Similar swift interventions on 11 July near the RTO Office in Kondapur and on 15 July in Deshaipet, Warangal, also led to successful rescues.
In a heartening case, Dial-112 facilitated the safe return of a missing child. On 10 July, an eyewitness reported a 9-year-old boy travelling alone on the Kerala Express in Warangal, suspected to be missing. The boy's details were cross-checked using social media to identify his father. Coordination with Chhattisgarh Police and the Pursoli Village Pradhan helped locate the parents. The child was temporarily placed in a Child Stay Home under the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) before being safely reunited with his family.
These incidents underscore the timely and effective responses of the Dial-112 system in diverse critical situations.

Boy beaten to death: Girl's parents lodged false plaint of theft on Dial 100
Indore: Parents of the minor girl, who allegedly caught a boy, tonsured his head and beaten him brutally to death after tying him to a tree in Namli village of Ratlam district, had falsely reported a theft at their house on Dial 100 helpline to mislead police. Police have arrested five people, including the girl's parents, in the case. ASP Rakesh Khaka said that in a bid to mislead the police, the accused called Dial-100 helpline and falsely claimed that a thief had entered their home. Two minor cousins raped at gunpoint in Muzaffarnagar
In Muzaffarnagar district, two minor cousin sisters, both aged 15, were allegedly raped at gunpoint by two youths from their village on July 24. After registering an FIR on Saturday, the police have launched a manhunt, forming two teams to apprehend the perpetrators, while the victims were taken for medical examinations. According to police, the two sisters, who were acquainted with the accused, received a threatening phone call from one of the perpetrators around 10:30 PM on July 24. The caller allegedly warned that their parents would be killed if they did not comply and meet him. Frightened, the girls went to the designated location, where the accused took them to an isolated pig farm in a jungle area outside the village. There, brandishing a firearm, the accused threatened the girls, ordering them to lie down or face being shot. Pradeep allegedly assaulted one sister, while Gaurav assaulted the other, committing the heinous crime at gunpoint. After the assault, the accused abandoned the traumatised girls in the jungle, threatening to kill their entire families if they reported the incident to the police. The sisters were later found wandering in a distressed state on a road late at night by a police patrol, who brought them to the Budhana police station. Upon receiving information, the victims' family members rushed to the station, where the girls recounted the harrowing ordeal. The father of one of the victims shared the family's anguish, stating, 'When the girls didn't return home for a long time, we started searching for them and informed Dial-112, but we found no trace. Around 1:30 AM, the police called us, saying the girls were at the station and asked us to come and take them.' At the station, the sisters narrated the details of the gang-rape, prompting the family to file a written complaint. Based on the complaint, the Budhana police registered a first information report (FIR) against Pradeep and Gaurav under BNS Sections 70(2) (gangrape), 137(2) (kidnaping) and section 5G/6 of the POCSO act. DSP Gajendra Pal Singh confirmed that a case has been filed, and the police have obtained the mobile numbers of the accused, both residents of the same village. 'Two teams have been formed to apprehend the accused, and we are actively pursuing them,' Singh said. Special judge L D Solanki delivered the verdict on Wednesday, describing the crime as "inhuman" and stating that the convict deserved no mercy. Deepak was adopted from an orphanage in Gwalior by Usha Pachauri and her husband, a retired forest employee.
