Affectionately nicknamed 'Wyn the Leap', Davies' long career took in the 1960s and 1970s, and he was capped 34 times by Wales.
Caernarfon-born Davies scored six goals in 34 appearances for his country between 1963 and 1973.
He began his professional career at the Racecourse between 1960 and 1962, scoring 21 goals in his 55 appearances.
Notably, he was a major part of Wrexham's biggest ever win.
Back on March 3, 1962, Davies was one of three hat-trick scorers in the 10-1 thrashing of Hartlepool United, joining Ron Barnes and Roy Ambler in grabbing a treble.
He made over 550 appearances in the English Football League after beginning his senior career at Locomotive Llanberis and his hometown club, Caernarfon Town.
After departing Wrexham, Davies also played for Manchester United, Manchester City and Newcastle United, where he won the 1969 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup - later known as the UEFA Cup.
For Wales, Davies made his debut against England at Ninian Park in Cardiff.
His first goal came in 1964 against Scotland in a 3-2 victory.
A Football Association of Wales statement said: "The thoughts of everyone at the FAW are with the family and friends of Wyn Davies during this difficult time."

Eriksen to Rangers case presented amid Wrexham links

Currently without a club after leaving Manchester United at the end of last season, the Dane's future is very much up in the air. Eriksen has been linked with a move to join English Championship big-spenders Wrexham, although Jansen, who turned out for the Welsh club, thinks Rangers could also be an option. He said [OLBG]: "[[Rangers]] are a huge club and they've got Champions League football. So that's probably a bigger draw. "I think it would take an awful lot of money for Wrexham to sign Eriksen. I know they have a lot of money, but do they have that much? Read more: "If he wants English football he should go to Wrexham but it depends on personal circumstances and whether he's happy to move. If he is, I would say Rangers were a stronger option. "Even with Eriksen, I've got Wrexham down to struggle next season. There is a lot of quality in the Championship and it's a massive step up. "Every league is a step up, but League One to Championship in particular is a very big step. "It's always difficult when a player is reaching those golden age years and coming towards the end of his career. "Then you have the expectation levels, because he'll be nowhere near as good as he once was in his prime. Again if Wrexham are going to struggle next season, is that going to suit the type of player that Eriksen is?"

Christian Eriksen sees Rangers as a transfer 'draw' with 49ers ready to fulfil recruitment pledge

The Denmark international remains without a club after leaving Manchester United at the end of last season Rangers would be a "draw" for Christian Eriksen this summer as he the free agent weighs up his next move. The former Manchester United playmaker is on the lookout for a new club after leaving Old Trafford at the end of last season. Murmurs have lingered throughout the summer that the new owners at Ibrox, 49ers Enterprises, could make a move for the experienced Dane. However, cash-rich English Championship side Wrexham have reportedly made their move to make the 33-year-old the latest big name added by Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. But former Red Dragon's striker Matt Jensen has told Eriksen that a move to the Scottish Premiership would be the better move - if Russell Martin 's men can navigate the Champions League qualifiers. He told OLBG: " Rangers are a huge club and they've got Champions League football. So that's probably a bigger draw. "I think it would take an awful lot of money for Wrexham to sign Eriksen. I know they have a lot of money, but do they have that much? "If he wants English football he should go to Wrexham but it depends on personal circumstances and whether he's happy to move. A blockbuster deal could fulfil one of the US owners early promises to the shareholders - with a "surprise" said to be on the cards. Speaking at Rangers EGM, Paraag Marathe of 49ers Enterprises - who now own the Glasgow giants alongside pharmaceutical tycoon Andrew Cavenagh - promised shareholders that there would be names emerging that would raise the eyebrows of fans. He said: "If we share who we're targeting that players becomes more expensive. It's best for you all if we surprise you with the players we bring in!" Lee says Moore is 'realistic target' for Wrexham AFC

That's the view of former Aston Villa midfielder and now Sky Sports Football League pundit, Lee Hendrie. Phil Parkinson has already broke the club's record transfer deal for a fourth time with the summer signing of New Zealand international Liberato Cacace. Parkinson has also splashed the cash to bring Lewis O'Brien, George Thomason and Ryan Hardie to the club while Josh Windass and Danny Ward have arrived on free transfers. But Wrexham's business isn't finished yet with Sheffield United striker Moore and former Manchester United and Tottenham star Christian Eriksen linked with moves to The Racecourse. Moore helped The Blades to the Championship play-offs last May and Hendrie believes he is a realistic target for the Reds as they plan to make an impact in the second tier. 'Wrexham are a team on the up, and looking to bolster their squad," Hendrie told Football League World. "Moore's wages are estimated to be £25k a week but I don't think that will be an issue for them, I really don't. 'Obviously the fear factor of all this is FFP and all the rest of it, but they'll have clever business people behind the scenes who are looking at this, and I don't think the wages will be a problem at all. "They've been linked with the likes of Jamie Vardy, and potentially paying him big money, and they're a wealthy club that can certainly do that. 'It does catch up with you, but if they want Moore, they'll be pushing to make this happen, and it would be a great signing.'
