vivo X Fold5 has the biggest battery (6,000mAh) and best protection (IP69+) of any foldable
The vivo X Fold5 has arrived – it's thinner, more powerful and more durable than its predecessor. It was unveiled in China earlier today and hopefully it will follow in the footsteps of the X Fold3 Pro and get a wider release soon.
vivo X Fold5
The new model keeps both displays the same size – 6.53' cover display and 8.03' inner display. The inside one is now a Zeiss Master Color Screen and has second generation of Armor Glass.
The vivo X Fold5 is slimmer – it measures 9.2mm folded and 4.3mm unfolded for the Titanium version, which is a bit lighter at 217g too. The White and Green Pine versions are a bit thicker and heavier at 9.7mm folded/4.55mm unfolded and 226g. For comparison, the vivo X Fold3 (which was thinner and lighter than the X Fold3 Pro) measured 10.2mm/4.7mm and weighed 219g. The hinge is made of high-strength steel and carbon fiber to be as durable and as light as possible.
The X Fold5 becomes the first foldable to earn the highest water resistance ratings – IPX8 (submersion) and IPX9+ (water jets). It's rated IP5X for dust ingress and can operate in very cold environments, down to -20°C.
The vivo X Fold5 is rated IP68/IP69+ and can work down to -20°C
The impressive feats of engineering don't stop here. This is also the foldable with the biggest battery yet – 6,000mAh (split into two Si/C cells with capacities of 3,275mAh and 2,725mAh). The vivo X Fold5 has the biggest battery in a foldable yet at 6,000mAh
Okay, it's not the thinnest horizontal foldable, but the practical considerations may win over in the end. For example, vivo engineers managed to find room for 40W fast wireless charging, in addition to 80W wired charging, which can come in handy.
Going back to the displays, the inner panel is an LTPO OLED with 120Hz refresh rate, 2,480 x 2,200px resolution (10.1:9 aspect ratio) and 10-bit colors. Peak local brightness is 4,500 nits.
The cameras boast a 50MP main with a 1/1.56' Sony IMX921 sensor and a Zeiss T* coated f/1.57 lens with OIS. The 'Zeiss Super Telephoto' module is a 3x periscope lens (f/2.55) with OIS and a 50MP 1/1.95' Sony IMX882 sensor. The ultra-wide is a third 50MP sensor (1/2.75') and has a 15mm f/2.05 lens, also with Zeiss T* coating. Triple 50MP Zeiss cameras on the back of the vivo X Fold5
The X Fold5 has 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 7 (be), Bluetooth 5.4 (aptX HD and Lossless, LDAC, LHDC), NFC and off-grid text and voice over Bluetooth at up to 1km distance. The USB-C port supports USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5Gbps) and DisplayPort for video output.
The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 – yes, a chip that is about to be two generations old in a few months. It is paired with 12GB/16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB/512GB/1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.
The old chipset is a bit of a disappointment and the display and camera upgrades are not earth-shattering. But the battery upgrades and top-level IP rating, plus the more slender build certainly look great.

And here's the best part – the vivo X Fold5 is not that expensive... for a foldable. The 12GB/256GB variant starts at CNY 7,000. For comparison, an Oppo Find N5 (12GB/256GB) is CNY 9,000. The pricing for all storage options is in the table below, plus conversions to dollars. vivo X Fold5 Price USD (converted) 12GB/256GB CNY 7,000 $975 12GB/512GB CNY 8,000 $1,115 16GB/512GB CNY 8,500 $1,255 16GB/1TB CNY 9,500 $1,325
The vivo X Fold5 is currently on pre-order at the official online store in China and sales start next week on July 2.

Oppo Reno15 details leak with major shake-ups
Before you hit up the comment section to inform us, YES, we are well-aware that the Reno14 and Reno14 Pro were only launched in China last month and have just begun their international rollout, with upcoming launches in Malaysia on July 1 and India on July 3. This is all to say that the Reno15 family is still a ways off from announcement. That said, it appears to be far enough in development for some details to start leaking. Industry insider Digital Chat Station has suggested that the Reno15 and Reno15 Pro are already being tested with 200MP main cameras on board. That's up from the 50MP shooters on the Reno14 line. Quite the potential upgrade. Both phones are also tipped to have a periscope telephoto, which is not surprising given that both Reno14 models have one. Reno15 info In a potentially more interesting possible development, the source also hints at a substantial downsizing for both phones. Allegedly, the regular Reno15 will feature a 6.3-inch display, effectively making it a 'compact' device by modern standards. Definitely smaller than the 6.59 inches of the Reno14. The Reno15 Pro will also apparently be downsized to 6.78 inches, compared to the 6.83 inches of the Reno14 Pro. Last but not least, Digital Chat Station claims that Oppo is considering new flagship hardware for the pair. We aren't sure exactly what that entails, but he does mention wireless charging and metal middle frames, so there's that. Source (In Chinese) | Via

Tecno Camon 40 Pro review
Tecno has unveiled its Camon 40 series at the MWC in Barcelona, and today, we are going to meet one of the most interesting specimens - the Camon 40 Pro 5G. It offers a well-rounded specs sheet with plenty of premium features at an attractively low price point. The Camon 40 Pro 5G bets heavily on design and multimedia - it has a curved shape with an unusual looking back, a fast 144Hz OLED, Dolby Atmos speakers, a powerful processor, and 50MP cameras on both sides for a premium photo experience. Let's start from the beginning. The Camon 40 Pro 5G has curved panels and a thin profile, Gorilla Glass 7i protection, and IP68 plus IP69 ratings. It is also tested to be drop resistant - to an extent. The Camon 40 Pro 5G packs a 6.78-inch 1080p OLED display with 144Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ certifications. The model utilizes a rather popular chipset lately - the Dimensity 7300 5G. The Camon lineup has always had a focus on the camera kit, and the Camon 40 Pro 5G is no exception. It has a 50MP LYT-700C main camera, an 8MP ultrawide secondary, and a 50MP AF selfie imager. The Tecno Camon 40 Pro 5G is powered by a 5,200mAh battery that supports up to 45W wired charging. It boots Android 15 with Hi OS 15, which is brimming with AI options, and it is promised to get three major software upgrades in the following years. Tecno Camon 40 Pro 5G specs at a glance: Body: 164.3x74.6x7.3mm, 179g; Gorilla Glass 7i front. plastic frame, plastic back; IP68/IP69 dust tight and water resistant (high pressure water jets; immersible up to 2m for 30 min). 164.3x74.6x7.3mm, 179g; Gorilla Glass 7i front. plastic frame, plastic back; IP68/IP69 dust tight and water resistant (high pressure water jets; immersible up to 2m for 30 min). The Camon 40 Pro 5G seems like a sweet deal, but it's not exactly an update over the Camon 30 Pro 5G. The chipset is a lower class, the ultrawide camera has been severely downgraded, and the charging power is lower. Those features are now reserved for the Premium model. On a positive note, these cuts made the Camon 40 Pro 5G more affordable, so it is a silver lining of sorts. Unboxing the Camon 40 Pro 5G The Camon 40 Pro 5G arrives in a thick paper box, which is filled with goodies. It all starts with the phone, of course, then there is a USB-A-to-C cable, and even a 45W power adapter. That's not all! Tecno bundles the phone with a premium protective case, which features an incredibly grippy and stylish back that matches the phone's design. Finally, the phone arrives with a factory-applied protective folio on its screen. Page 2
