Flamengo beats Mineiro to go top in Brazil's Serie A
Ortiz broke the deadlock in the 75th minute with a powerful header past goalkeeper Everson after Luiz Araujo's delivery from a free kick on Sunday.
The result at the Maracana Stadium leaves Flamengo with 36 points, two clear of second-placed Cruzeiro. Atletico Mineiro is 13th in the 20-team standings with 20 points so far.
"It was difficult to break them down because they are very solid defensively," Ortiz told reporters after the match.
"Today we managed to get the winning goal from a set piece, which shows that we're able to find solutions when games become difficult."
In other fixtures on Sunday, Vasco da Gama drew 1-1 at Internacional, Bahia cruised to a 3-0 home win over Juventude, Sao Paulo prevailed 3-1 at home to Fluminense, and Ceara won 2-1 at Cruzeiro.

Ningbo (China), Aug 1 (UNI) Fabio Azevedo, President of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) today joined local amateurs for an air volleyball event in Beilun, Ningbo, the host city of the 2025 FIVB Men's Volleyball Nations League (VNL) Finals. The activity saw FIVB officials and local enthusiasts engage in a lively air volleyball match, drawing cheers and applauses from spectators with several thrilling rallies. "It's amazing. It's fantastic because air volleyball can be the best way for kids to start playing," Azevedo said. "The ball is light, it doesn't hurt, and the way of playing is so easy. It enables mass participation and brings joy to all age groups." Azevedo also noted the inclusiveness of the sport: "Air volleyball is a great manifestation of a sport. It's a great promotion of a sport. Everybody can play. The court is smaller, the net is lower, it's easy, inclusive, and fun. It's already included in FIVB's global volleyball movements." In addition to the sporting activities, FIVB officials immersed themselves in local culture. They watched traditional lion dances and martial arts performances and toured a local intangible cultural heritage market, exploring Chinese traditional crafts such as paper-cutting, tie-dye, and tea whisking. "It is an amazing demonstration of Chinese cultural heritage," Azevedo said. "I can't pick a favorite, all of them are beautiful reflections of Chinese culture." Azevedo also took the opportunity to encourage local fans to keep embracing volleyball as part of their everyday lives. "Keep playing. Keep enjoying the game," he added. "Volleyball has the power to bring people together. It's all about togetherness. We want to see more people playing and getting engaged in volleyball." UNI/XINHUA BM

Napoli's Victor Osimhen Completes 75 Million Euro Move To Galatasaray
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen on Thursday completed his permanent move to Turkish champions Galatasaray in a 75 million euro ($87.5 million) four-year deal. A key figure in Napoli's 2023 title triumph, Osimhen spent last season on loan at Galatasaray, scoring 26 goals in 30 league games as the Istanbul club claimed their 25th Super Lig crown. He was absent as Napoli, the freshly crowned Serie A champions, resumed training at the start of the week as the finer details of the deal were concluded. Napoli coach Antonio Conte seemingly did not have the 26-year-old in his plans for his side's Scudetto defence next term. Negotiations with Galatasaray had been ongoing for several weeks but up to Thursday had stalled over the terms of payment for the transfer. Napoli recently recruited Kevin De Bruyne from Premier League club Manchester City. Osimhen becomes Galatasaray's most expensive ever player.
