Centre reviews stalled infra projects worth ₹75,800 crore across five states
A high-level meeting chaired by Amardeep Singh Bhatia, secretary of the department for promotion of industry and internal trade (DPIIT), was held on 24 June to assess critical bottlenecks in key infrastructure projects in Jharkhand, Sikkim, Nagaland, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh.
In Jharkhand alone, 18 issues spanning 11 major projects, with a combined investment value of over ₹ 34,213 crore, were examined, the ministry said in a statement.
The North-East saw significant reviews as well. A single, high-value project worth ₹ 6,700 crore was assessed in Assam. Seven issues across three projects, including a ₹ 1,000 crore private sector initiative by GeoEnpro Petroleum Ltd, were taken up, totalling ₹ 33,469 crore in investments in Arunachal Pradesh.
Sikkim had two project-related issues involving investments of ₹ 943 crore, while Nagaland saw the review of three issues tied to two projects worth ₹ 544.65 crore.
'The meeting, attended by senior officials from central ministries, state governments, and project proponents, focused on expediting issue resolution through enhanced inter-ministerial and state coordination facilitated by the Project Monitoring Group (PMG),' the ministry said.
The projects reviewed included the Patratu Thermal Power Station Expansion Project Phase-I in Jharkhand, the Dibang Hydropower Project in Arunachal Pradesh, and the Kohima Bypass Road in Nagaland.
The review, anchored by the PMG under DPIIT, sought to identify and resolve long-pending issues hampering infrastructure delivery in these regions.
The initiative, the ministry said, is part of the Centre's continued efforts to accelerate infrastructure development in strategically important and underserved areas like the North-East.
'The initiative is expected to improve the investment climate, de-risk private capital, and support infrastructure-led growth across these strategically significant regions,' it added.

While the states continue to demand for control, the Centre made it clear that it has complete power to regulate, tax and penalise industrial alcohol. The states got the final relief with the latest Supreme Court judgement in Uttar Pradesh Vs Lalita Prasad and others case in 2024. A judgement by a nine-member judge (Constitutional bench) finally said that states would continue to have power on industrial alcohol to regulate the mechanism of supply of alcohol to industries and also potable alcohol.

Aqua Line extension till Boraki multi-modal hub gets Centre's nod
Noida: Centre has cleared the extension of Noida Metro's Aqua Line up to Boraki, less than an hour's drive from Jewar, which will take the city's transit network a step closer to the upcoming Noida International Airport. The 2.6-km-long elevated stretch will add two new stations—Junpat and Boraki—at a cost of Rs 416 crore. The project is expected to be ready in three years. The metro corridor extension is to take the Aqua Line to the proposed multi-modal transport hub at Boraki, where UP govt plans to integrate the Delhi-Howrah rail corridor with an inter-state bus terminal and rapid rail till Ghaziabad. The Greater Noida rail station at Boraki is being designed as NCR's gateway to the eastern part of the country. "Once both the corridors are operational, it will become easier for commuters from Noida and Greater Noida to reach the airport," he said. The funding for the new metro corridor will be shared by the Centre and UP govt (20% each), with the remaining 60% coming through a loan from the National Capital Region Planning Board. NMRC estimates that ridership on the new segment could reach 60,000 daily by 2031. The Aqua Line currently runs 29.7km between Sector 51 in Noida and Depot Station in Jaitpur. NMRC has also proposed a 17-km extension from Sector 51 to Knowledge Park V in Greater Noida, which awaits clearance from the Centre. Similarly, the 11.6km corridor linking Sector 142 station to Botanical Garden via eight new stations is pending approval from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. EFC (I) posts net profit of ₹46.67 crore in Q1 FY26
NEW DELHI: Pune-headquartered EFC (I) has reported a growth of 195.94 per cent in its net consolidated profit during the quarter ended June 30, 2025. Its profit after tax (PAT) stood at ₹46.67 crore in Q1 FY26 as against ₹15.77 crore it registered in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal, the company said in a BSE filing. The company's net consolidated total income stood at ₹223.25 crore in Q1 FY26, a growth of 112.05 per cent from ₹105.28 crore it recorded in the similar quarter last year. In leasing, the company secured additional space of 1,45,000 sq ft in Q1 FY26, adding capacity of 3,000 seats during the quarter. Ek Design Industries , the furniture vertical of the company, signed its first international order in Saudi Arabia for a seven-star hotel awarded by Nuvara Global Turnkey Projects Contracting LLC. The company also secured ₹1,000 million in fit-out contracts from a leading MNC. EFC (I) acquired Quantum Towers in Pune , a 122,000 sq ft facility in Q1 FY26.
