Arion Carter's leadership with Tennessee football detailed
Following the Vols' third practice on Aug. 2, linebackers coach William Inge discussed Arion Carter entering his third season at Tennessee in 2025.
'I think that what you see, he's been probably consistent,' Inge said. 'It's still been the same scenario. When you come here in the morning, he'll be the first one here, you come here at night, he'll be the last one leaving, and now, I think from a leadership standpoint, what he's done has really turned into the player-led organization part of the program where he's making sure the rest of the guys are doing some of those same things.
'It's not just him dealing with the linebackers, but him also dealing with the secondary, the d-line, the o-line and just his communication that he has around the guys on the team. That's what you want when you take the next step in leadership. He's also doing the same thing. We talk all the time where, in order for you to be a dominant linebacker or dominant player that is known, it is about leadership and production, and he is producing on the field as well.'
The 6-foot-1, 235-pound junior linebacker appeared in 21 games for the Vols from 2023-24. Carter totaled 85 tackles, including 37 solo and 48 assists, 7.5 tackles for a loss, one interception and eight pass deflections.

Jets rookie TE Mason Taylor sidelined by high-ankle sprain
Jets second-round pick Mason Taylor won't be making his preseason debut this week. Taylor has been out of practice the last couple of days and head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters at a Tuesday press conference that the rookie is dealing with a high-ankle sprain. Glenn said that Taylor is out for at least a week as a result of the injury. Glenn also said that defensive tackle Byron Cowart has an ankle injury. Cowart was carted off at Tuesday's practice and edge rusher Will McDonald left the session with back spasms. Backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor has missed practice with a knee injury, but Glenn said that the team does not believe that it is a serious issue.
