Killer R'bore tiger captured,moved to Karauli enclosure
The move came two days after a 70-year-old guard at the Jain temple inside Ranthambore Fort was mauled to death, marking the third human kill at the reserve in two months, and prompting NTCA to urgently clear a pending proposal to relocate all three cubs of Arrowhead, believed to be behind a series of attacks on humans.
"The animal is under continuous observation by the veterinary team and forest department officials," the forest department said in a statement.
Official sources said two of Arrowhead's cubs — RBT-2509 and Kankati, both allegedly involved in human fatalities — have now been confined to enclosures. Both sub-adult cubs grew up in the shadow of their ailing mother, living on live baits and never fully developing hunting skills.
The third cub, a female that has not yet shown aggression towards humans, will also be relocated later.
"As per the 13th technical committee's decision, the male cub will be shifted to Dholpur-Karauli Tiger Reserve, one female cub to Ramgarh Vishdhari, and the conflict-prone female cub to Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve.
The forest department has been directed to initiate the action and report compliance to the Authority," NTCA had stated earlier this week.
Despite these measures, experts cautioned that the long-term plan for the tigers remained unclear. "The tiger currently held in the Karauli enclosure cannot be confined there for life. If it is eventually released into the wild, there's a high likelihood it will prey on villagers, perceiving them as easy targets.
On the other hand, shifting Kankati — the conflict-prone female — to Mukundra Hills is a sound decision, as no villages lie within the 82sqkm enclosure," green activist Tapeshwar Singh Bhati said.
Bhati, however, cautioned that Kankati cannot remain confined to the Bhid enclosure indefinitely. "The action plan must be revised, and the two tigers confirmed to be involved in human killings should either be retained in Mukundra or shifted to a biological park," he added.

Last Updated: Gurugram, Aug 2 (PTI) A 40-year-old scrap dealer was stabbed to death by his live-in partner in the DLF Phase 3 area here early Saturday after an argument over him talking to his wife, police said. Harish Sharma, a resident of Baliawas village in Gurugram, had been in a live-in relationship with the 27-year-old accused, Yashmeet Kaur, for more than a year. They lived in a rented flat. Sharma was married and had two daughters who lived with his wife in the village. His wife was not keeping well for some time, and Sharma would often talk to her, which infuriated Kaur, police said. On Saturday night, Kaur walked in on Sharma conversing with his wife, and the couple had a heated argument. In a fit of rage, Kaur stabbed Sharma in the chest with a kitchen knife. He was taken to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival. A friend of the deceased, Vijay alias Sethi, who was reportedly present in another room, is also under the scanner. The victim's nephew has alleged in his complaint that both Kaur and Vijay planned the murder. L&T terminated Corridor-2, Corridor-4 contracts of suburban rail project illegally: K-RIDE
Bengaluru, The termination of two contracts for Corridor-2 and Corridor-4 of the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project by Indian multinational conglomerate Larsen & Toubro is a clear violation of agreement conditions, said officials of K-RIDE, a joint venture between the government of Karnataka and the Ministry of Railways, on Saturday. L&T terminated Corridor-2, Corridor-4 contracts of suburban rail project illegally: K-RIDE L&T had terminated the contract on July 31, added K-RIDE. "L&T has made unreasonable demands of revising contract price within the contract period and converting EPC contract into an itemised Bill of Quantities contract, even though contract condition does not permit the same," stated a press release issued by K-RIDE on Saturday. According to the release, L&T had entered into two agreements to perform the work assigned to them in the Corridor-2 and Corridor-4 of the suburban railway project, added the release. Originally, the scheduled completion time for Corridor-2 was 27 months, but was extended up to September 30, 2026. The agreement entered upon for Corridor-4 is valid till October 2026. K-RIDE officials said all reasonable demands of L&T were addressed by them as per the provisions of the contract. "The contract permits extension of the period for delay in availability of the land by K-RIDE. But L&T has opted to terminate the contract unilaterally and illegally," said the release. The claims, said K-RIDE, had been referred to the Amicable Settlement Committee, as per the provision of the contract. The work front available to L&T is about 84 per cent of the total corridor length of C2 and 17 km in C4, said the release. "However, the progress achieved by L&T so far in C2 and C4 are not commensurate with the available work front, which exposes L&T's failures in carrying out the work, which is citing non-availability of work front as reason," added the press release. According to K-RIDE, work was delayed because L&T failed to mobilise adequate resources and there was a delay in finalising designs. It also said that the project managers of L&T were frequently changed, affecting the progress of work. There was no immediate reaction from L&T. Court rap for ED over ‘misleading' post on raid on Jain's premises
New Delhi: A court has criticised the Enforcement Directorate for posting information in a misleading manner on its X account in 2022 regarding a search on the premises of AAP functionary and the then Delhi govt minister Satyendar Jain . The agency should act "impartially", the court observed. The observations came on Thursday from the court of special judge Jitendra Singh while upholding the Feb 20 order of a trial court that there was no prima facie case to proceed against BJP parliamentarian Bansuri Swaraj under criminal defamation provisions. Jain had filed a defamation case against Swaraj over her comments made on the basis of ED's post. "It is incumbent upon an investigative agency such as ED to act impartially and uphold the principles of fairness and due process. Any dissemination of information, including but not limited to official social media platforms, must be accurate, non-misleading and free from sensationalism," the judge pointed out.
