Slack bolsters search with AI, adds transcriptions and summaries for huddles
Using AI, Slack now lets you search across channels as well as connected apps (like Google Drive, Salesforce and Teams) to surface relevant files and conversations. This feature will be available on Slack's Business and Enterprise plans.
The company is also using AI to bolster Huddles, the company's voice and video chat feature, with call transcriptions, summaries, and the app will automatically highlight key action items brought up in calls.
And to help users catch up on conversations, Slack will offer summaries of messages in a channel or thread if you were away.
The company said that it will roll out a way for users to get a summary of another user's profile, showing their role and recent work. There are also plans for a feature in the Activities tab that will surface action items when you're looking at a message mentioning you.
Slack added that it is working on a feature that would let you use AI to explain a message in the context of the given conversation.
For Canvas, a collaborative panel that lets users share guides, documents, and information, the company plans to add an AI-powered writing assistant that would help users create a canvas from any conversation or change the existing content's formatting.
The app's also getting a design makeover — we're getting a unified space for all shared files, lists, and Canvas items.

OpenAI's experimental model achieved gold at the International Math Olympiad
OpenAI has achieved "gold medal-level performance" at the International Math Olympiad, notching another important milestone for AI's fast-paced growth. Alexander Wei, a research scientist at OpenAI working on LLMs and reasoning, posted on X that an experimental research model delivered on this "longstanding grand challenge in AI." According to Wei, an unreleased model from OpenAI was able to solve five out of six problems at one of the world's longest-standing and prestigious math competitions, earning 35 out of 42 points total. The International Math Olympiad (IMO) sees countries send up to six students to solve extremely difficult algebra and pre-calculus problems. These exercises are seemingly simple but usually require some creativity to score the highest marks on each problem. For this year's competition, only 67 of the 630 total contestants received gold medals, or roughly 10 percent. AI is often tasked with tackling complex datasets and repetitive actions, but it usually falls short when it comes to solving problems that require more creativity or complex decision-making. However, with the latest IMO competition, OpenAI says its model was able to handle complicated math problems with human-like reasoning. "By doing so, we've obtained a model that can craft intricate, watertight arguments at the level of human mathematicians," Wei wrote on X. Wei and Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, both added that the company doesn't expect to release anything with this level of math capability for several months. That means the upcoming GPT-5 will likely be an improvement from its predecessor, but it won't feature that same impressive capability to compete in the IMO.

Audeze Maxwell Headset Makes Gaming Premium — GeekTyrant
Audeze recently sent me what is possibly the best gaming headset I have ever had the chance to try out for Xbox. The Audeze Maxwell headset is available now in two varieties (one for PlayStation with MSRP of $299 and one for Xbox with MSRP of $349) and I'm in love with it. Before I really get into it, I want to talk about some of the specifications. The Maxwell features over-the-ear and closed back headphones with 90mm drivers. It has a suspension headband instead of the more typical adjustable headband and is advertised to have a battery life of 80+ hours. As far as connectivity, the Maxwell can use Bluetooth 5.3, wired USB, wired 3.5mm, and a USB dongle with ultra low latency wireless. It also has Xbox Wireless via the USB dongle. Maxwell also offers integrated A.I. noise filtration for the microphone as well as microphone EQ controls. In addition, the Xbox version comes with an embedded license to Dolby Atmos for the optimal audio experience while gaming. That's enough boring talk. The Maxwell is absolutely incredible. The audio quality is absolutely fantastic. Everything sounds so clear and crisp. Combined with the fact that it is very comfortable to wear, and it's just a fantastic headset. The padding they use for the cups is just very comfortable yet secure. The use of the suspension headband actually works better for staying on my head when I bend over versus pretty much any adjustable headband headset. Before the Maxwell, my only other Xbox headset was the Razer Kaira Pro. This was a decent headset, especially for the price. However, it's safe to say that the Maxwell blows it out of the water (albeit with a price tag over double). I recorded a few samples using the Kaira Pro, the Maxwell, and my go-to PC mic the Dark Matter Sentry. I had fairly loud music playing in the background as I recorded each sample and tested external and internal microphones on both headsets and various levels of noise suppression on the Maxwell. In my opinion, the Sentry gives the best audio quality, but it also lets a lot of the background music through. The Maxwell is definitely in second place though with the external boom mic and has much quieter background noise, even with the noise suppression turned off.

Unrivaled announces NIL deals with 14 college players, including JuJu Watkins and Flau'Jae Johnson
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — JuJu Watkins, Flau'Jae Johnson and Azzi Fudd are three of 14 top women's college basketball players that Unrivaled is signing to NIL deals, the league announced Saturday. It's the second consecutive year that the 3-on-3 league that was founded by Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart has had name, image and likeness deals with college players. In it's inaugural season, Unrivaled had deals with Paige Bueckers and Johnson. Watkins, who plays for Southern California but is sidelined with an ACL injury, has also previously been involved with Unrivaled as an investor in its Series A funding round. Johnson, who is at LSU, and Fudd, at UConn, both were on hand for the announcement, as were Notre Dame's Hannah Hidalgo and UConn's Sarah Strong. Other players signed include TCU's Olivia Miles, UCLA's Kiki Rice and Lauren and Sienna Betts, Texas' Madison Booker, Iowa State's Audi Crooks, LSU's MiLaysia Fulwiley, South Carolina Ta'Niya Latson and Michigan's Syla Swords. The players range from sophomores to seniors. Women's basketball players have been able to take advantage of NIL opportunities over the last few years with Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, Bueckers and Johnson at the forefront of it. Reese played in Unrivaled in its first season. As part of the initiative, the class will be attending a multi-day event at the league's headquarters in Miami, which will include skill development and content shoots. 'This transformational, first-of-its-kind initiative brings together the best of the best and reflects our deep commitment to elevating the women's game and holistically supporting athletes,' Luke Cooper, President of Basketball Operations at Unrivaled, said in the initiative's announcement.
