Time of India6 days ago
Nashik: In view of the huge rush of devotees at the Kapaleshwar temple, Ramkund, and Gangaghat areas on Saturdays and Mondays in the Shravan month, the Nashik city police have banned all kinds of vehicles near these places from 6am to 10pm on all Mondays and Saturdays starting July 28 to Aug 23.
The month of Shravan began on July 25. Police said every year, during Shravan, there is a huge rush of devotees in the Panchavati area who want to have darshan in different temples and also take a dip in the river waters. Considering the rush, police decided to restrict the movement of traffic on Mondays and Saturdays until Aug 23 from 6am to 10pm on these two days.
The roads that will be closed for motor vehicles are from Malegaon Stand to Kapaleshwar temple, Khandave hall to Kapaleshwar temple, Sardar Chowk to Kapaleshwar temple, and Dhike library to Kapaleshwar temple.
Motorists are urged not to use these roads from 6am to 10pm on Mondays and Saturdays until Aug 23.
An order in this regard has been issued by DCP (HQ) Chandrakant Khandvi. Senior police officers said they have also deployed strict bandobast so that the devotees do not have to face any inconveniences while taking darshan or taking a dip in the river water.

Ramkuri, a resident of Langadiyawas, told police she was walking home around 6pm when the duo stopped her, asked for directions, and quickly fled after snatching her nose ring. Police are scanning CCTV footage to identify the accused. The case adds to a growing list of snatching incidents in the city, where robbers are targeting victims in broad daylight at temples, parks, and residential areas. Thieves steal 3 gold chains at Jharkhand Mahadev Temple

1 2 Jaipur: During the holy month of Shravan, as crowds continue to swell at the city's Jharkhand Mahadev Temple, a gang of women thieves has been slipping through the rush, unhooking gold chains right inside the sanctum—while police stand just a few feet away. Between July 23 and July 28, at least three gold chains were stolen from women as they bent to pour water on the Shiva Linga, with two incidents occurring on the same day. The thefts follow a distinct pattern. One gang member pretends to offer blessings or nudges the target under the guise of crowd movement. In that moment of distraction, another unclasps the chain and quickly hands it off to an accomplice. The gang blends into the crowd before anyone realises what happened. What's raising eyebrows is the fact that these crimes happened in full public view—inside a sacred space—while police were present. CCTV footage confirms the thefts and shows the suspects in action, moving swiftly and confidently. Archana Singh, 45, a regular devotee, was one of the victims. "Before going in, we clicked a photo. My 20-gram chain is visible. After the ritual, it was gone," she told TOI. "We went to the guards. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Medical Mystery Solved: Dementia and Memory Loss Has Been Linked To This Common Thing. When she approached Vaishali Nagar police to lodge an FIR the same day, a woman sub-inspector allegedly discouraged her. "She said I would face unnecessary complications and that the gang would be caught soon," Singh said. Later, police called her back and asked her to return and formally file the report after no breakthrough was made. No FIR has been registered so far, according to Singh. SHO Rajesh Kumar Singh said all FIRs have been filed in all known cases and that CCTV footage is being reviewed. "We are investigating," he said. However, he did not comment on why preventive measures—like frisking at entry or crowd control inside the sanctum—have not been enforced, especially given the surge in footfall during Shravan. Despite a heavy turnout of devotees every Monday and increasing complaints, no arrests have been made so far. Police say technical teams are working to identify the suspects, and extra deployment is being considered.

Two men tied to tree, beaten for eloping with women

Vadodara: Two men were tied to a tree and mercilessly beaten with sticks by villagers in Panchmahal district's Shehra taluka after they allegedly eloped with two women with whom they were in a relationship. The video of mob justice in Tadva village began widely circulating on social media, prompting police to arrest 10 people. The villagers also thrashed both women present at the spot. The conversations in the video, which mentioned the holy month of Shravan and Dashama fasting, indicated that the incident had occurred recently. Police traced the viral video to Tadva and identified the accused, all of whom are residents of the same village. Some were tracked down with the help of informers. Deputy superintendent of police NV Patel said the incident occurred after the youths, who work in Mahemdavad in Kheda district, eloped with two women from their village on Tuesday. Relatives and other villagers located them and forcibly brought the four back to Tadva. Patel said 10 accused have been arrested, and the vehicle used to bring the youths back from Mahemdavad has been seized. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 15 Most Beautiful Female Athletes in the World Click Here Undo An offence was registered against the women's relatives and other villagers involved in the incident under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) pertaining to wrongful confinement, kidnapping, unlawful assembly, rioting, and intentional insult among others.
