Salman Khan, SRK Fired Fake Guns Outside Rakesh Roshan's Room During Karan Arjun: 'Both Of Them…'
Ashok Saraf reveals Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Johny Lever had fun pranking on Karan Arjun sets with firecrackers and fake guns.
Before Karan Arjun became a '90s Bollywood classic, the film's set was a playground for some seriously chaotic fun. Veteran actor Ashok Saraf has shared a glimpse of the off-screen madness involving Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Johny Lever — and it involved fake guns and firecrackers!
During a chat with Radio Nasha Official, Saraf confirmed that SRK and Salman kept things lively behind the scenes. When asked if the duo really fired fake guns and burst crackers outside director Rakesh Roshan's room, he said, 'Yes, yes. I never used to go wherever this was happening. Kisi ko sataana ho toh main door hu. But yes, both of them used to have a lot of fun."
He added that Johny Lever often joined in on the mischief, but Saraf himself stayed on the sidelines. 'Aur unke saath mein Johny Lever bhi mil jaata tha. Uske saath main bhi fir, masti nahi karta tha par hota tha."
The story lines up with what Rakesh Roshan previously shared on the same platform. The director recalled being woken up at night by 'guns going off" and 'bottles flying" near his room. Even Shah Rukh admitted to the chaos in the docu-series The Roshans, saying, 'Pinkie ji scolded me a lot. 'You are troubling Guddu (Rakesh) a lot. I didn't expect it from you.' Because, between Salman and me, I was slightly better behaved; at least on the face of it. I was like, 'I didn't do anything. It's all his (Salman) doing.' We were two young kids, really troubling a father figure, to be honest."
Karan Arjun, which starred Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Kajol, Rakhee Gulzar, and Amrish Puri, recently completed 30 years and was re-released in theatres to mark the milestone.
Karan Arjun is a 1995 Bollywood action-drama that follows the story of two brothers, Karan and Arjun, who are brutally killed by their greedy uncle Durjan Singh for inheriting their father's wealth. Their mother, Durga, prays to the goddess Kali for justice, and years later, her sons are reborn as Ajay and Vijay in different families, unaware of their past lives. As fate brings them back together, memories of their previous lives begin to resurface, leading to a powerful reunion and a mission to avenge their deaths and fulfill their mother's vow.

Pagal Records, a music store in Delhi's Hauz Khas Village is trying to revive public appreciation in vinyl records
A door full of music-related stickers welcomes wanderers exploring Hauz Khas Village into Pagal Records, an independent record store stocked with vintage vinyls, CDs, and posters. Above the entrance door, a painted sign urges customers to fight for good music. Inside, the store, walls are adorned with shelves packed with cassette tapes for sale. They hold qawwalis and bhajans to Raj Kapoor's hits and more. The crates containing records are interspersed with an array of vintage band and Bollywood posters. A first glance is enough for a music lover to realise the variety the store contains. Pagal Records was started a decade ago by a vinyl collector, Joe Luca Singh, who began selling his personal vinyls to customers in the capital. He later set up the store to expand his business and reintroduce the music format to Delhiites. Now, the store is owned by Abhay Panwar, who calls it a 'culture store' more than just a record store. 'The store renewed interest in vinyl culture in the city,' says Abhay Panwar, who now owns the store. Abhay was a longtime customer of Pagal Records and grew up buying records from Joe. 'I bought the store in December 2024, because I couldn't let it go once Joe decided to give it up,' says Abhay. 'It would feel like something was missing without Pagal Records being here.' The store boasts a vinyl collection of a wide variety of genres, including rock, jazz, electronic, Bollywood, and Indian classical music. From signed copies of Ravi Shankar and Anoushka Shankar's melodies to a rare 'Sticky Fingers' album record signed by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, the place highlights the uniqueness of owning vintage records. 'We mostly source first pressings, that is, records pressed decades ago in the 1960s,' says Abhay. Pagal Records often sources from vinyl collectors who are looking to sell old records. Bollywood records are the most easily attainable for the store, while some records are sourced from countries abroad, including Italy and Japan. A large section of their customers are regulars who spend up to ₹10,000 on a vinyl record and also sometimes request the team to source specific records. However, Abhay says Pagal Records team is trying to reduce prices to make records more affordable for their target audience — youths in their 20s looking for a new hobby or music. The cost of their records starts from ₹1,000 and goes up based on the genre and rarity and genre. Abhay cites customers' newfound disinterest in paying for music on online platforms as one reason for the comeback of vinyl culture. 'People are done with just consuming one form of music, and they've realized they can get more out of the money they are spending on it.' This, Abhay says, is why Pagal Records is trying to reduce their prices to make records more affordable for their new target audience — young people in their 20s looking for a new hobby or new music. Previously, their customer base consisted mostly of working professionals and musicians who could afford records. Although Pagal Records wants to foster the new generation of music lovers, they also want customers to discover new genres and artists through vinyl. 'Post-COVID, the number of records being sold in Delhi has multiplied. But we don't want to make the job too easy for people,' Abhay says. To inspire customers to find music themselves, the small team at Pagal Records takes on a 'Do-It-Yourself' approach. They invite customers to dig the crates, spend time listening to the records they select on the in-store turntable, and then make their final pick. At 5 Hauz Khas Village, near Deer Park; Open daily 12pm to 8pm

Parineeta to re-release in theatres on its 20th anniversary
Agency: PTI Mumbai, Jul 30 (PTI) Vidya Balan and Saif Ali Khan-starrer 2005 hit 'Parineeta", which was adapted from Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's iconic 1914 Bengali novel by late Pradeep Sarkar, is all set to re-release on its 20th anniversary on August 29. PVR INOX and Vinod Chopra Films announced on Wednesday that the restored version of the film will be screened in theatres across India. Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who produced the film and recently directed the much-loved '12th Fail", said the film holds a special place in his heart. 'It's more than just a film-it's a journey of love, elegance, and soulful music. Every frame carries its own emotion, evolving with the story in a way that touches something deep within. And now, in the restored and remastered 8k version, the visuals are even richer and the beautiful locations even more beautiful. I am so proud of Pradeep Sarkar for the way he made this film, the way he captured the grandeur of old Kolkata and infused it with timeless beauty that still lingers," Chopra said. Sarkar set the movie in the 1960s Kolkata. Balan and Khan play childhood friends — Lalita and Shekhar — who gradually fall for each other. Shekhar's father is eyeing the house of Lalita's uncle as he hopes to build a hotel there. Lalita comes to know of this plan but a family friend, Girish, played by Sanjay Dutt, steps forward to help her. This leads to a major misunderstanding between the two lovers. Balan, who made her Bollywood debut with the movie, said the film's re-release was an emotional moment for her. 'Parineeta" is where it all began… Every frame of the film carries a piece of my heart, and I'll forever be grateful to Pradeep da (my Dada) and Mr Vinod Chopra for believing in me. I owe so much of who I am as an actor to this film. Even after all these years, people remember the film, the songs, and how it made them feel. People say every frame in the film is like a painting…and that is Pradeep Sarkar's magic… So I do hope people and the new generation discover old-world love through 'Parineeta'," she said in a statement. Saif Ali Khan, the romantic lead opposite Balan, remembered the film as a turning point in his career. 'The film allowed me to explore a quieter, more restrained side of my personality. It had elegance, depth, and a certain old-world charm that's rare to come by. Working with Vidya, Pradeep da, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Sanju (Sanjay Dutt), and the entire team was truly special. I have very warm memories of the film, and it will always hold a meaningful place in my journey." Dutt said 'Parineeta" was his second project with Chopra after 'Munnabhai MBBS" and he enjoyed playing a character that was 'understated and real". 'I have wonderful memories from the shoot, and I'm very happy that a new generation will now have the chance to experience it on the big screen," Dutt said. The film is also memorable for Shantanu Moitra's compositions be it 'Piyu Bole", 'Kasto Mazza", 'Kaisi Paheli Zindagani", 'Raat Hamari To" and 'Soona Mann Ka Aangan". Niharika Bijli, Lead Strategist at PVR INOX, said audiences today are seeking a chance to re-experience classics on the big screen. ''Parineeta' is a timeless film—an elegant exploration of love, class, and the evolving role of women in early 20th-century India. It is a jewel in Vidhu Vinodh Chopra's rich cinematic legacy. We are excited to bring the film back to the big screen in a stunning restored print, inviting both new audiences and nostalgic fans to experience its cinematic splendour once again."
