JOHNNY KENNY has told Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers he's ready to sign a new contract now and push hard to become a Hoops goal hero.
The 22-year-old Irishman has gone into the last 12-months of his deal after costing a six-figure sum from Sligo Rovers in January, 2022.

The Republic of Ireland under-21 ace is wanted by Bolton - they've had a £500,000 bid rejected - and a host of other clubs, also keen on a loan agreement for the new season.
But Hoops manager Rodgers is holding fire just now as he carefully decides Kenny's immediate future - as an established part of his squad plans or to go out again to get more regular action elsewhere.
First, though, he wants the frontman - one start, one goal for Celtic - to put pen to paper on a contract extension.
Kenny scored in the champions' opening pre-season friendly against Queen's Park while he started in the 2-1 win over Cork City on Tuesday night to grab the Cork Super Cup.
He's full of belief - and desperate to pledge his future to his boyhood heroes.
Asked if he was keen on a new contract, Kenny - previous loan spells at Queen's Park and Shamrock Rovers - said: 'Yes, and hopefully that can be done soon.
'I'd love to sign a new contract for this club.
'At the end of the day it's the club I want to play for.
'Since I came back in January, I can't describe how good the manager's been for me.
'Obviously, he wants me to sign a new deal, so I think that's very promising for me at this club and I'll be happy to sign a new contract.
The diggers move in as Celtic Park pitch is dug up
'I don't really see it being a problem at all.
'When it's going to get done, hopefully in the next few weeks.
'We need to start talks now and let's see where it goes from there.'
Kenny's prepared to leave Celtic again if Rodgers believes it's his best chance of STAYING with the champions.
The ambitious Irish striker's very keen to sign an extended contract beyond his current deal which is up next May.
Rodgers has made it clear enough that's his immediate wish for the 22-year-old - and it's great news for Bolton-target Kenny who has been just as crystal with his agent over making that a priority.
But once that's done and dusted - and there's no vibe it won't happen - then it's down to Rodgers to decide what the best option is for the Republic of Ireland under-21 ace…going out on loan again or staying within the top squad for the new campaign.
Kenny's faith in his manager is such that he's prepared to wholeheartedly go with whatever he feels is right.

It feels like a massive, pivotal moment in his career with hopes and dreams of glory with Celtic and his national team filling his head.
But the calm former Sligo Rovers youngster - previous loan spells with Shamrock Rovers and Queen's Park behind him - revealed: 'I'll leave it to the manager to make a decision on that.
'Wherever I am, obviously I want to play football.
'I want to develop myself and I think playing games is going to develop me.
'Obviously, I also want to break into the national team and I think playing games is the way I'm going to get into that team.
'Whatever the manager decides, I think he'll have a pathway for me.
'I don't think he's going to keep me here and not play me.
'So, whatever the manager decides I'm all behind it.
'Everything he's told me since January has been 100-per-cent, so I believe in the manager.
'My confidence is high at the moment and I think that comes from the manager.

'As I said, since I came back, the manager - the way he spoke to me in front of the group and individually - it's just been amazing.
'I think it's all down to him.
'And I hope to get opportunities to repay him.
'Obviously, he wants me to sign a new deal, so I think that's very promising for me at this club and I'll be happy to sign a new contract.
'I don't really see it being a problem at all.
'When it's going to get done, hopefully in the next few weeks.
'We need to start talks now and let's see where it goes from there.'
Kenny's had just one first team start - but managed a goal, against Aberdeen at Pittodrie in May.
A clinical winner against Queen's Park at Lesser Hampden last Friday underlined his potential after he finished last season strongly, including a Scottish Cup final appearance off the bench and a converted penalty in the heartbreaking shoot-out defeat to Aberdeen.
And Kenny feels ready to be a Celtic player.
He said: 'Yes, 100-per-cent.

'I came in, learned my trade the last few months, learned the system in and out of possession and I feel like I'm ready to kick on now.
'Hopefully, I get the opportunity to do that.
'The Aberdeen game I started. The manager spoke to me beforehand and gave me the confidence to go out on the pitch and be confident, get a goal and perform.
'That's what happened on the night.
'My dream is to represent this club on a daily basis and play so many games for this club.
'I hope I can break in and get opportunities to do that because that's all I want to do.
'It's such a big club and I want to be part of it.
'If I get opportunities I back myself to score.
'It was good to get off the mark on Friday and I just want to keep getting minutes and hopefully get more goals.'
Kenny, meanwhile, paid tribute to fellow Irishman and £9.5 million Celtic star Adam Idah for his influence.
He added: 'Adam's brilliant, a fellow countryman and you can see how well he's done since he came in over the last 18-months.
'He's always trying to help, whether it's me or the other strikers.
'He's always there if you need something.
'It's brilliant to have someone in your position, and fellow countryman, who is always there to help.'

Celtic join race to sign ‘sought after' defender who impressed at Euro Under 21 championships with Portugal

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Celtic are reportedly interested in signing Cercle Brugge full-back Flavio Nazinho. Media in Portugal say the 21-year-old is being monitored by the Scottish champions, but they face stiff competition for the defender's signature. Sign up for the Celtic newsletter Sign up 2 Flavio Nazinho impressed for Portugal U21s Credit: Getty 2 He played against Kilmarnock last season Credit: PA Brendan Rodgers is looking to strengthen his options at left-back for competition with Kieran Tierney after Greg Taylor moved to PAOK. New signing Hayato Inamura showed up well in his first appearance in Hoops in this week's pre-season friendly against Cork City and could fill in at left-back if needed. His performance has even made Rodgers reconsider sending him out on loan to gain first-team experience this season, but it is being claimed by Record they're in the hunt for another defender. Nazinho spent a year on loan at Brugge from Sporting Lisbon before making the move to Belgium permanent last summer in a €1million (£900,000) deal. The club's sporting director Rembert Vromant at the time, said: 'We are convinced that Nazinho, based on his matches and training, has the potential to take Cercle to the next level with his speed, excellent mentality and his versatility." He made 39 appearances for Cercle last season which included both legs against Kilmarnock in a Europa League second round qualifier. He missed the Conference League clash with Hearts later on due to a hamstring injury. Despite competing in Europe, Cercle Brugge narrowly avoided relegation from the Belgian top flight last season winning the play-off against Patro Eisden to stay up. And reports in Belgium suggest they need to sell players as they face a €15m deficit, with no income from European competition to fall back on. Having also impressed at the Under 21 Euro Championships, Cercle are bracing themselves for offers for the talented 21-year-old. Nazinho assisted Portugal team-mate and Celtic midfielder Paulo Bernardo in the 5-0 win over Poland, but they exited the competition to the Netherlands in the quarter-finals. Cercle Brugge's club's CEO Klaas Reynaert admitted: "Nazinho played a brilliant European U21 Championship and is highly sought after. "We are not in a position to refuse a good offer. A good offer must always be considered to remain financially sound." According to the report in Portugal, Celtic face competition from Serie A giants Roma and La Liga outfit Real Sociedad for his signature. The Hoops are in Portugal currently at their pre-season camp in Lisbon as Rodgers puts his men through their paces. They have their third game in seven this month in a closed door friendly against Estrela Da Amadora on Saturday, before facing Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday. James Forrest soaking up Celtic history lesson he doesn't need as Lisbon lore makes no 17 a bit more special

The Hoops are training at the Cidade do Futebol which is just a free-kick away from the iconic Estadio Nacional The Portuguese sun might be hiding behind the rain clouds. But James Forrest is soaking up every minute of Celtic's return to Lisbon. ‌ The Hoops are in an unusually wet and drizzly Portugal for the latest leg of their pre-season tour - a far cry from the roasting hot conditions back in Costa del Glasgow right now. ‌ Based at Cidade do Futebol, Brendan Rodgers has been putting the champions through their paces at the state-of-the-art training complex used by the Portugal national team. And just over their shoulder sits the iconic Estadio Nacional, the colosseum where Billy McNeill climbed the steps in 1967 to become the first British man to lift the European Cup. It was a moment that changed the course of Celtic history forever. As the club's most decorated player, Forrest doesn't need a history lesson. But the evergreen winger revealed Rodgers made sure the current squad fully understood what the holy ground means. He said: 'The gaffer brought everyone together on our first day here and was talking about it. He was telling all the new lads about it. ‌ 'It's a great set-up we have here and it's great to get away from Glasgow for our pre-season training. 'I'm not sure if our schedule will allow us to actually visit the stadium given we have double sessions and games. ‌ 'But it's obviously a really iconic place. 'It's unbelievable what happened here as part of the history of the club. "The manager talked about that and I think the new players then looked into it and took note of it. ‌ 'You definitely love hearing the stories about it. It never gets old.' Incredibly, this marks Forrest's SEVENTEENTH pre-season at Celtic. The one-club man has seen hundreds of players come and go since bursting onto the scene in 2010. ‌ And with new signings Ben Nygren, Hayato Inamura and Callum Osmand joining the ranks, Forrest knows just how important these camps are for helping the fresh faces settle in. He said: 'It's been a good start to pre-season. 'We were obviously in Ireland for a couple of days and a lot of boys got minutes under their belt. ‌ 'We've now come out to Portugal where the facilities are really good. 'We can do double sessions with beds at the training ground which allows us to rest in the afternoon. 'You just need to enjoy it and embrace it. ‌ 'I've obviously done so many pre-seasons with the club down the years and you get to see good parts of the world. 'The training is hard but it's good for the new signings to get together with the squad. ‌ "It's an important part of the season before we go back for the competitive games." The trip also brought a familiar face back into the fold as injured winger Jota popped in to see his teammates. Born and bred in Lisbon, the ex-Benfica star has been back in his hometown doing his rehab as he works his way back from a horror ACL injury. ‌ Forrest added: 'All the boys and all the staff thought it was great to see him. He's looking well. 'It was obviously a bad injury he got but he was in good spirits and it was probably good for him to see the lads. 'Physically, you know he'll get to where he needs to get to. 'But it's always the mental side with long-term injuries. You can be alright for a couple of weeks, then hit a lull for a couple of days. 'But the way he speaks, and the way he is as a person, gives me no doubt that he'll come back flying as much as he was before he got injured.'

Flavio Nazinho fits Celtic transfer bill as Brendan Rodgers 'targets' Kieran Tierney back up solution

The former Sporting CP kid is currently with Cercle Brugge in Belgium after making the move from Portugal last year Cercle Brugge left back Flavio Nazinho is reportedly a transfer target for Celtic. The 21-year-old Portuguese would solve a problem for Brendan Rodgers, who is looking for a Kieran Tierney understudy following Greg Taylor' s departure to greek outfit PAOK. ‌ With Tierney certain to be Rodgers' first choice at left back, a younger back up with potential to develop and slot in when Tierney is needed at left centre back is what's required and Nazinho seems to fit the bill. ‌ Nazinho came through the ranks at Sporting CP, who the Hoops play next week in a pre-season friendly in Lisbon before flying home to face Newcastle United. They would be due 15 per cent of any fee received by Cercle Brugge if a deal is done. The Belgians paid €1million for Nazinho last summer, with another €1million potentially due in add-ons. Nazinho played 39 times in all competitions last term as Cercle finished runners up in the Jupiler Pro League.
