Claremont's early Xmas cheer! Arts market lights up town

Picture: Alan Chau / The West Australian Claremont's historic Wilkinson Gallery was once again transformed into a curated winter wonderland for The Boutique Christmas Market. The three-day event was a love letter to WA creativity and highlighted bold artworks and culinary delights. Inside the mood-lit gallery space, visitors discovered a thoughtfully assembled collection of more than 30 stalls, from gourmet pantry goods to handcrafted designs. Some of the State's most exciting visual artists set up shop and offered an exclusive opportunity to purchase original works from Chrissie Hogan, CE Ceramics and Louise Farnay. Hogan, known for her ceramics and oil paintings celebrated by AGWA's Design Store said: 'It's a joy to bring my work off the gallery walls and into people's homes through this intimate market experience.'

Dazzling new OTT exhibition launches at AGWA

Picture: Alan Chau / The West Australian Fun was the name of the game at the launch of Re-PLAY as everything from the colourful cake pop desserts, salt and vinegar potatoes with edible flowers and, of course, the vibrant Maxxi Minaxi May exhibition were created to surprise and delight. The launch was held in Gallery 09 inside The Art Gallery of Western Australia where guests were invited to explore while snacking on bites from Mi Scusi, and enjoying performances from the Perth Symphony Orchestra and acrobatics from Fliptease. In her speech, AGWA's Lilly Blue described Re-PLAY as a 'a delicious sensory and colour-rich playground, harnessing the arts of assemblage to examine consumerism, mass consumption and throwaway culture'.
