After her parrot clutch, Urvashi Rautela makes heads turn with her bikini gold and diamond bag worth Rs 5.29 lakh at Cannes

Time of India23-05-2025
Urvashi Rautela made a bold statement at the Cannes Film Festival, captivating attention with a golden fishtail gown and a striking gold bikini-shaped bag by Judith Leiber, priced at $6,195. While her fashion choices sparked buzz, a photoshoot that reportedly blocked hotel guests also stirred controversy. Rautela's Cannes appearances included various gowns and clutches, marking a memorable presence.
Urvashi Rautela
turned heads once again at the 78th edition. She kicked off her red carpet journey in a bold, parrot-inspired gown paired with a quirky parrot-shaped clutch — a look that sparked mixed reactions online.
Undeterred by the chatter, Urvashi made a striking comeback with yet another buzzworthy accessory that kept fashion watchers talking.
A Golden Moment on the Red Carpet
In the early hours of May 23, 2025, Urvashi lit up Instagram with what many are calling one of her most stunning red carpet moments to date. Attending the screening of La Venue De L'avenir (Colours Of Time) at the Cannes Film Festival, the actress dazzled in a heavily embellished, golden fishtail gown by Joli Poli, complete with dramatic cape-style sleeves.
While the gown itself was a showstopper, it was her eye-catching gold bikini-shaped bag that truly stole the spotlight and had the internet buzzing.
The Statement Bag That Stole the Show
The actress turned heads at Cannes with a bold fashion statement — a bust-shaped bikini bag from the luxury label Judith Leiber. The metallic gold accessory, designed to mimic a bikini top, was adorned with an opulent mix of crystal necklaces in varying shapes and sizes — from large round gems to pear-shaped and trillion-cut drops.

The lavish design was further elevated with accents of pearls and semi-precious stones.
Featuring a pull-tab magnetic closure, champagne-toned metal hardware, a removable shoulder chain, and a metallic leather-lined interior, the quirky yet luxe bag quickly became a hot topic online.
Jaw-Dropping Price Tag
According to a report published in Bollywoosshaadis.com, Urvashi's bold bikini-shaped bag didn't just make headlines for its design—it also came with a jaw-dropping price tag.
The Judith Leiber creation is reportedly priced at a hefty $6,195, which translates to approximately Rs 5.29 lakh. But this isn't the only 'bust' bag in the brand's quirky collection. Judith Leiber offers eight other variations, with the most expensive ones—Bust Don't Tell Mama and Bust Standing Ovation—each priced at $7,995 (around Rs 6.82 lakh).
Interestingly, Urvashi's viral parrot clutch from her earlier red carpet appearance was also a Judith Leiber piece, carrying a price tag of Rs 4.86 lakh.
Photoshoot Controversy
Before making her grand entrance on the Cannes red carpet, she was spotted striking poses for a photoshoot on the stairway of her hotel. However, what caught attention wasn't just her glamorous look—it was the fact that she reportedly blocked the passage for several other guests during the shoot. Despite the growing crowd waiting to pass, the actress remained focused on her shoot, neither stepping aside nor acknowledging the inconvenience caused, sparking mixed reactions online.
Urvashi began her Cannes 2025 run in a dark green asymmetrical gown paired with a Rs 4.57 lakh crystal parrot clutch from Judith Leiber. She later wore a black textured gown for O Agente Secreto, which was reportedly damaged while she helped a 70-year-old woman. For her third appearance, she opted for a custom Romzy gown.

No permit, No performance: Church Street's impromptu gigs a thing of the past?

Church Street in Bengaluru has long been a hub of spontaneous cultural energy and impromptu street performances. However, with the recent detention of international performers and growing restrictions on unsanctioned gigs, the city's approach to public performances seems to be shifting. It's not without reason. As authorities take a harder look at crowd control and safety in public spaces, the question remains: can Bengaluru's most iconic street still be a space for free expression — or is the era of impromptu performances a thing of the past? What happened? Last week, German influencer Younes Zarou was briefly detained by Bengaluru police for filming a dance video on Church Street that drew a crowd. This incident wasn't isolated. It comes after another German TikToker, Noel Robinson, was detained days prior for holding a similar street performance. Earlier this year, even global pop icon Ed Sheeran had his surprise Church Street set cut short. Church Street off limits to street performers? Though Ed claimed he had approval, police denied it, citing the absence of clearance for using a microphone, security arrangements, and police approval. The incident occurred amid ongoing enforcement on Church Street, which last year, saw police evict street vendors and advise buskers against performing, Deepak Batavia explains. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Pierce Brosnan's Wife Lost 120 Pounds - This Is Her Now Undo He adds, 'Church Street is a vibrant area, but it's also a 715-metre road. Because it's so narrow, one unexpected crowd can quickly become a safety hazard. ' Curbs imposed amid residential concerns According to Deepak Batavia, President of the Church Street Association, the curbs on performances on Church Street stem from residential grievances and safety concerns. 'We've had a lot of incidents; hospitals in the area faced significant trouble, residents' privacy was completely compromised, there were even fights. The street would be totally jam-packed. A court order was thus issued, and we have to abide by it,' he said, underscoring the police's legitimate crowd control concerns, a critical issue for Bengaluru, particularly after incidents like the RCB stampede. Church Street is a vibrant area, but it's also a 715-metre road. Because it's so narrow, one unexpected crowd can quickly become a safety hazard – Deepak Batavia, President of the Church Street Association We need better public spaces for artistes, musicians: City strategist Urban strategist Vinod Jacob believes the crackdown on gigs points to a larger issue — Bengaluru's lack of open, accessible performance spaces. He said, 'The need for public stages for artistes, musicians and painters is a must. In the past, dedicated venues regularly hosted gigs and live shows by freelance artistes. We also had playgrounds with built-in stages for public performances that didn't disturb anyone. We truly need more public spaces where artistes can perform freely. As a heritage and cultural capital of India, Bengaluru's traditional classical artistes also require these spaces to showcase their art. However, blocking traffic and performing on roads is unwarranted and not advisable.' What about Church Street's buskers? It isn't only international creators; local performers have faced pushback too. Neil Newton, an artiste and beatboxer who used to perform on Church Street, explains that he stopped busking following an encounter with the police. 'Unfortunately, under Indian law, busking falls under public nuisance. I remember an incident when a cop approached us while we were performing — we were a group of four and we'd just randomly started performing. The cop threatened to take us to the station if we didn't clear out in 30 seconds. That was the last time I busked. Busking was something I did for fun - I didn't want to cause any trouble,' he says, and notes, 'Today, Church Street has also became too chaotic and crowded, it's easy for things to get out of hand.'

Stephen A Smith blasts Michelle Obama over ESPN drama jab and offensive Donald Trump claim

Stephen A Smith blasts Michelle Obama over ESPN drama jab and offensive Trump claim (Image Via X) On August 2 and 3, 2025, a heated exchange unfolded between ESPN star Stephen A. Smith and former First Lady Michelle Obama . The clash began when Michelle Obama, on her 'IMO' podcast, compared ESPN comment shows especially featuring Stephen A. Smith to The Real Housewives of Atlanta. In response, Stephen A. Smith pushed back sharply on his YouTube show, calling her 2024 campaign remarks 'offensive' and saying he took them personally. What followed is a clash of perspectives blending sports, politics and media culture. Michelle Obama's ESPN comparison draws fire On August 1, 2025, during an episode of her 'IMO with Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson' podcast, Michelle Obama likened watching ESPN even shows like First Take to reality TV. She said: 'If I listen to ESPN for an hour, it's like watching The Real Housewives of Atlanta. It's the same drama… they're yelling at each other… Stephen A. Smith… he's just like every other talk show host.' She described the network's debates as sociological drama, full of constant tension and conflict. Smith's response to Michelle Obama On August 2–3, 2025, Stephen A. Smith answered on his own show. He began by expressing respect: 'Michelle Obama… you are revered by me personally… but I'm still a bit salty at you.' He criticised her campaign claim that 'a vote for Trump was a vote against women,' stating he found that message emotionally manipulative and offensive. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Mountain Gear for Extreme Conditions Trek Kit India Learn More Undo He emphasised that voters decide based on many issues like economy, security, immigration, safety, long before considering identity politics. Smith also challenged her reality‑TV comparison of ESPN. He argued that sports commentary is live, competitive, authentic entertainment and not scripted reality TV. 'You are so wrong about that assertion,' he said, defending ESPN's value. Despite disagreement, Smith lauded her: he said Obama was 'sensational' and suggested she or Barack Obama would beat Donald Trump in a presidential run. Yet he reaffirmed that he 'won't say a negative word' about her personally. This dispute highlights the intersection of sports media criticism and political tension. With Michelle Obama's viral podcast comments and Stephen A. Smith's candid rebuttal, both delivered on different platforms and dates, the back‑and‑forth reflects deep cultural divides over identity, political messaging, and media presentation.
