Real Housewives of Durban wins at KZN film and TV awards

Doig was not in attendance on the night, and the awards were accepted by the series director of Real Housewives of Durban. The popular reality TV show 'Real Housewives of Durban' won two awards on Saturday night at the Simon Mahube Sabela KZN Film and TV Awards. The show won the Best TV Production and Best Use of Cinematography awards, with the latter going to Lee Thomas Doig for his work on the fourth season. Doig was not in attendance on the night, and the awards were accepted by the series director of Real Housewives of Durban, Boitumelo Modise. 'Thank you for loving the show so much, showing so much support…for watching it, every episode that comes out,' said Modise, thanking the province. The wins are for the fourth season of the reality TV show. The 12th edition of the awards was held at the Durban ICC on Saturday evening. Celebration of KZN talent The night started off with the singing of the national anthem, followed by a performance by Phuzekhemisi and the Clermont Choir. The awards are named after legendary South African actor and filmmaker, Simon Mabhunu Sabela. Sabela is South Africa's first black film director. He directed films like Ikati Elimnyama, a renowned South African comedy film, and Ngaka, which starred Somizi Mhlongo's father, Ndaba Mhlongo. 'We'd like to thank the Simon Sabela Awards for this beautiful award, but also for celebrating KZN talent,' said Modise. 'There is so much talent in this province and I'm so glad there's a platform that celebrates it and uplifts it and gives us more opportunities to make more work,' said Modise. 'On behalf of the cast and the crew and of course the gorgeous ladies that opened up their lives and showed us intimate, vulnerable moments of their lives,' concluded the series director. Miss SA 2025 POSTPONED amid rumours pageant is 'over'

Miss South Africa – or Miss SA – has officially postponed its 2025 crowning ceremony, just days after CEO Stephanie Weil stepped down. The news has fuelled rumours amongst pageant fans who believe the end may be in sight for the national competition. The pageant has yet to announce its Top 30 finalists. MISS SA POSTPONED! In a press statement posted on pageant fanpage @misssafandom, the Miss SA organisation announced that the finale would be postponed from August to a later date in 2025. This was one to 'ensure the alignment with international and other global events.' The statement added: 'The organisation, through its affiliated companies, aims to broaden the reach and impact of the pageant and its contestants. Organisers stated that Miss SA would be rebranded to include the pillars of entrepreneurship, job creation, cultural awareness, and social cohesion. The postponement of Miss SA comes after two key figures have left the organisation – CEO Stephanie Weil and Creative Director Werner Wessels. Although the organisation has relinquished its licence to Miss Supranational and Miss World, it is still expected to participate in Miss Universe, which takes place on 21 November in Thailand. Pageant fanpage @missuupdates asked in the comment section: 'How does it align with international pageants if there is less preparation? The pageant is in November!' Another, @missuniversewishlist questioned: Will the winner end up going to Miss Universe?'. Miss SA organisation was previously owned by Sun International, a hotel and event conglomerate in South Africa. In 2019, Sun International sold the rights to the pageant to Weil Entertainment, whose owner is CEO Stephanie Weil. Stephanie Weil has stepped down as Miss SA CEO. Who will fill in her shoes?Images via Instagram: @stephweil Now, the pageant has been taken under the wing of Africa Fashion International, which has vowed to 'embark on this strategic journey together, leveraging our unique strengths to drive growth and innovation.' Green and gold gees: Springbok newbie weeps during national anthem

It was an emotional affair for Springbok newbie Neethling Fouche, who wept during the performance of the South African national anthem during his debut test match for the team. The Stormers star was selected for the squad that played Georgia in Mbombela on Saturday, 19 July. South Africa won 55-10 against the Eurasian country. As they do every match, the Springboks were joined by thousands of rugby fans in the stadium and across South Africa as they belted out the national anthem. Joining them for the first time in a test match were three newbies, Boan Venter, Neethling Fouche, and Marnus van der Merwe. Nkosi Sikel iAfrika was sung by Corlea Botha, who wore a stunning emerald green gown to match the national team. During her performance, tears streamed down Fouche's face. Take a look… Earlier this year, Neethling Fouche was one of several rugby stars called up to the Springbok alignment camp. 'It's the most incredible privilege'. Ahead of his Springbok test debut in Mbombela, Fouche shared a touching message on his Instagram Story. It read: 'Jesus, all that I can say is thank you. You never stopped writing my story. All honour to you'. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1 .
