Ayush Mhatre receives signed bat from Rohit Sharma ahead of U-19 England tour
Mhatre had a special message for Rohit in his post.
New Delhi: Rohit Sharma gifted a signed bat to the young prodigy of Mumbai Ayush Mhatre, before his departure to England with India U-19 team. The leading player Mhatre, who gained popularity with his brilliant performance in the IPL 2025 with CSK, will be the captain of the Indian team on the England tour.
The young batter, an eager follower of Rohit Sharma took the picture with the India ODI captain prior to departing to the England tour. At the Instagram photo, Mhatre is shown smiling with Rohit as he held the signed bat given by veteran opener. He also wrote the moving note praying the special gesture. View this post on Instagram

India U-19 will tour England between June 24 and July 23 with five Youth ODIs and two multi-day games against the England U-19 team.

Ayush Mhatres shares experience of sharing dressing room with Rohit Sharma
Earlier this year, Ayush Mhatre got a chance in rarest of occasions to share a dressing room with his hero, Rohit Sharma during a Ranji Trophy match, where the senior batter played against Jammu & Kashmir with his team. Even though Rohit replaced Mhatre in the playing eleven, the young man later wrote a heartfelt message to the retiring veteran praising his prowess and thanking him, describing in detail as to how he inspired.
Mhatre also disclosed that he started playing cricket by observing Rohit Sharma batting and he termed playing alongside his boyhood idol as an out-of- this-world experience.
'Started playing cricket by watching him bat on television to sharing a dressing room with my idol was such an unreal moment. Lots of learning to take forward,' said Mhatre.
Rohit Sharma is taking a break in cricket since his retirement in Test matches before the England series. The India ODI skipper should be fit to play when the national side embarks on a white-ball tour to Australia.

I think he's a wicket-taker and would have offered a lot more than what he saw the attack do in this Test," Clarke said on the Beyond23 Podcast. "India have done this for a while. They care so much about extra batting or stacking the batting deep, and they are willing to risk picking the number one spinner to do that. I think to win in England, you've got to look to pick 20 wickets," Clarke added. Earlier, former England star Nick Knight also batted for Kuldeep's selection in the Indian team. "I would be looking for every opportunity to play Kuldeep Yadav. England will find it hard against Kuldeep. If Kuldeep is on top of his game, that could be a defining moment in the series, or moments, because England likes to be aggressive. When you want to be aggressive, you have to be certain about which way the ball is turning. If there is a little bit of assistance from the pitch, Kuldeep will be able to bowl all his varieties," he said.

'Didn't want rain to interfere' The Indian captain, who retired from T20Is after the World Cup win, also recalled that rain was forecast for the final and that he didn't want the rain gods to interfere. He also said that despite keeping a calm exterior, he was really nervous on the inside and visualised lifting the trophy and ending India's ICC title drought. "You will always visualise nice things. And in life, you will not always get nice things. I remember going to the ground from the hotel. I was just not talking to anyone. I had coffee in my hand. I was just sipping the coffee. Again, there was a forecast for rain. I said, No, man. We don't want any rain. Let the game start on time and let it finish on time. Because there was, of course, a reserve day as well. But I was so nervous," said Rohit. "I couldn't wait for another day to go through that same emotion. I was watching the rest of the team. Everyone was relaxed. I was relaxed too.
