Ayush Mhatres shares experience of sharing dressing room with Rohit Sharma
Earlier this year, Ayush Mhatre got a chance in rarest of occasions to share a dressing room with his hero, Rohit Sharma during a Ranji Trophy match, where the senior batter played against Jammu & Kashmir with his team. Even though Rohit replaced Mhatre in the playing eleven, the young man later wrote a heartfelt message to the retiring veteran praising his prowess and thanking him, describing in detail as to how he inspired.
Mhatre also disclosed that he started playing cricket by observing Rohit Sharma batting and he termed playing alongside his boyhood idol as an out-of- this-world experience.
'Started playing cricket by watching him bat on television to sharing a dressing room with my idol was such an unreal moment. Lots of learning to take forward,' said Mhatre.
Rohit Sharma is taking a break in cricket since his retirement in Test matches before the England series. The India ODI skipper should be fit to play when the national side embarks on a white-ball tour to Australia.

Gautam Gambhir Sent "No-Brainer" Message Over Benched Star's Selection For 2nd Test vs England
As the Indian cricket team looks to bounce back after losing the opening Test against England, multiple changes are expected to be made in the team. While Jasprit Bumrah is likely to miss out on a spot in the playing XI, over workload management, one or two more players could be dropped to the bench as the team management looks to strengthen the side for the second match of the series at Edgbaston. Former Australia captain Michael Clarke wants wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav to be included in the team, calling the selection an 'absolute no-brainer'. His message to the team management, led by head coach Gautam Gambhir, is loud and clear. Indian bowlers didn't quite enjoy a fruitful outing at Leeds in the series opener, with the likes of Mohammed Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, and Prasidh Krishna struggling for large parts of the game. Barring Bumrah, no bowler seemed in control of what he wanted to do in the conditions. Though Clarke doesn't want to be hard on Indian bowlers, he does want Kuldeep to be included in the XI, if India are to take 20 wickets in the second Test. "Bowling-wise, I do not want to be hard on any individual, but I think they've got to play Kuldeep Yadav. I think it is an absolute no-brainer. I think he's a wicket-taker and would have offered a lot more than what he saw the attack do in this Test," Clarke said on the Beyond23 Podcast. "India have done this for a while. They care so much about extra batting or stacking the batting deep, and they are willing to risk picking the number one spinner to do that. I think to win in England, you've got to look to pick 20 wickets," Clarke added. Earlier, former England star Nick Knight also batted for Kuldeep's selection in the Indian team. "I would be looking for every opportunity to play Kuldeep Yadav. England will find it hard against Kuldeep. If Kuldeep is on top of his game, that could be a defining moment in the series, or moments, because England likes to be aggressive. When you want to be aggressive, you have to be certain about which way the ball is turning. If there is a little bit of assistance from the pitch, Kuldeep will be able to bowl all his varieties," he said.

Will Jasprit Bumrah Play Second Test vs England? Latest Report On Pacer Adds New Twist
Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah returned to the nets on Saturday during the optional training session ahead of the second Test against England at Birmingham, bowling for at least half an hour. However, a final call on Bumrah's participation during the second Test is yet to be taken, as per ESPNCricinfo. Before the series, team management had made it clear that the superstar bowler will feature in only three out of five matches, with skipper Shubman Gill and coach Gautam Gambhir staying tight-lipped about which matches he will play. The final call will be taken on how good Bumrah feels about his body going into the Test. During his net session, he went full tilt after not bowling on Friday. Everyone turned up for the practice session except for India's centurions from the first Test at Leeds, skipper Shubman Gill, vice-captain Rishabh Pant, openers KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal. During the nets session, the main focus was giving a lot of batting practice to bowlers as during the Leeds Test, India faced collapses in both innings, losing their last seven wickets for 41 runs in the first innings and last six wickets for 31 in the second innings. This proved to be a massive factor in their five-wicket loss as England successfully chased down 371 runs. Over the last two tours in England, India's last four partnerships have averaged 19.11 in 2021 and 16.35 in 2018. India will be now aiming to get better contributions from their lower order at Birmingham. Now, India will be having a day off on Sunday before returning for another training session on Monday. On the day before the match, they will take things easy and most likely, batters seeking some throwdowns will turn up. Pacers who are likely to play in Wednesday are likely to get a Tuesday off from practice. India's Test squad for England series: Shubman Gill (c), Rishabh Pant (vc), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Nitish Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav.

Rohit Sharma's candid admission on T20 World Cup win: 'Didn't sleep whole night before final, was really nervous'
It was on June 29, 2024, when Team India broke their 11-year-long jinx as the Rohit Sharma-led side finally won an ICC title after winning the T20 World Cup. In a humdinger of a contest, India got the better of South Africa by seven runs at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. Chasing 177, the Proteas were in the driver's seat after Heinrich Klaasen put on a masterclass in the middle overs. However, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah brought India back in the contest, and in the end, India snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. Rohit Sharma recalled the T20 World Cup win last year, saying it is the 'best moment in his cricketing career.'(BCCI-X) On the one-year anniversary of the famous win in Barbados, Rohit Sharma recalled the triumph, saying he was nervous heading into the summit clash against South Africa. Rohit had a memorable campaign, scoring 257 runs. However, the final was one occasion where the right-hander failed to get going as he walked back to the hut after scoring just nine runs off five balls. Batting first in the T20 World Cup final, India posted 176/7 in 20 overs, owing to Virat Kohli's knock of 76 runs off 59 balls with the help of six fours and two sixes. The target looked good enough for India to put in a fight. However, Klaasen's assault made it seem like India were well 15-20 runs short. However, Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh were exceptional at the death overs, leaving the Proteas a lot to do in the final over. Hardik Pandya then held his own in the final over. Who can forget the mind-boggling catch by Suryakumar Yadav at the boundary ropes to dismiss David Miller? "13 years is a lot of time. People don't have a career of 13 years. So, to wait for that long to win the World Cup, the last World Cup that I won was in 2007. For me, it couldn't have gotten any bigger than that, in my mind. The whole night, I didn't sleep. I was only thinking about the World Cup. Nervousness. I couldn't feel my legs waking up," said Rohit Sharma on JioHotstar. Also Read: Rohit Sharma reveals India weren't 'allowed to step out of hotel' before T20 WC match vs Pakistan "I don't show my nervousness, but it was inside me. In the morning, I think we were supposed to leave at 8:30-9. In the morning, I woke up at seven or something. In the morning, you're feeling that the match is about to start. And I can see the ground in front of my room. Then I was just watching that. And I'm like, okay, in the next two hours, I'll be there. I don't know what is going to happen after four hours. After four hours, the result must have come. Either the cup will be here or there," he added. 'Didn't want rain to interfere' The Indian captain, who retired from T20Is after the World Cup win, also recalled that rain was forecast for the final and that he didn't want the rain gods to interfere. He also said that despite keeping a calm exterior, he was really nervous on the inside and visualised lifting the trophy and ending India's ICC title drought. "You will always visualise nice things. And in life, you will not always get nice things. I remember going to the ground from the hotel. I was just not talking to anyone. I had coffee in my hand. I was just sipping the coffee. Again, there was a forecast for rain. I said, No, man. We don't want any rain. Let the game start on time and let it finish on time. Because there was, of course, a reserve day as well. But I was so nervous," said Rohit. "I couldn't wait for another day to go through that same emotion. I was watching the rest of the team. Everyone was relaxed. I was relaxed too. But in my mind, obviously, it's there. I'm the captain. And we have to do it for our nation. Everybody's itching for it. And it's a prime time in India. 7.30. Yeah, everybody's watching," he added. It must be mentioned that after the T20 World Cup win, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja retired from international T20Is. 'Barbados will forever be in my veins. This is by far the best moment in my life, in my cricketing career,' said Rohit. In the T20 World Cup, India defeated England in the semi-finals to make their way to the summit clash, where they eventually got the better of South Africa.
