In one of her earlier interviews, the actress said that amid life's hustle and bustle, she never paid attention to getting married and settle down. According to BollywoodShaadis, Shobana said, 'Well, I am not particularly against the institution of marriage in anyways. I haven't found the time for it amidst my busy schedule. Maybe I haven't spotted the right guy. And for that matter, I have seen only a few marriages that work. That can also be one of the reasons.' For Shobana, marriage can never be an ultimate goal to lead a happy and successful life. She said, 'I am not here to share about my personal life and choices. I don't think only marriage can give happiness and I am saddened to hear everyone thinking that marriage is ultimate in life to feel fulfilled. In 2011, Shobana became a single mother by adopting a baby girl, whom she named Anantha Narayani.
