Aberdeen launch improved Moussa Soumano transfer bid as Ajaccio resolve tested
Aberdeen have made an improved offer for AC Ajaccio winger Moussa Soumano.
The Dons have had an opening £500,000 offer turned down. They have since upped the ante in their bid to land the 19-year-old.
Jimmy Thelin is now waiting to see if it will be enough to get a deal over the line.
Ajaccio have already knocked back a number of bids in recent weeks, including one from Dutch side NAC Breda. The issue has been complicated by Ajaccio's current situation.
The Corsican club has been demoted to the National League due to financial issues. Ajaccio have appealed the decision and are fighting to keep their place In Ligue 2.
The case is due to be heard on July 15th. Soumano is one of their prize assets and if they are to sell him then they want to maximise their income.
The teenager came through at Red Stadium before he moved through the ranks at Ajaccio.
Thelin is still in the market to bring in another striker, after the Scottish Cup holders brought in Iceland under-21 cap Kjartan Mar Kjartansson.

Ex-Rangers striker Jermain Defoe has believes the Russell Martin's reported interest in Tottenham Hotspur teenager Mikey Moore could turn out to be the ideal move for both player and club, if they can get the deal over the line. The 17-year-old midfielder was linked with a potential loan switch to Rangers earlier this week, with reports claiming the Ibrox hierarchy were closing in on a move that would see the youngster arrive on a deal until the end of the season. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Those rumours gained further traction when Thomas Frank opted to leave the teen out of the Spurs squad for their pre-season tour to Hong Kong and South Korea this week, with the Danish boss admitting: 'Mikey is a big talent, I'm really excited about his future here at Tottenham. I think for all players, but especially the younger players, they need to get that first-team consistent football into their bodies. If we can find the right option, we'll do that.' 'Mikey Moore's an amazing young talent,' said Defoe. 'When I came into the academy, they said to me there's this young player that you need to see because he's the next best thing. As soon as I saw him, I thought he's got something special. He deserves the opportunities that he is getting right now, and we must remember, he's very young, only 17. 'He's still got time to improve and I don't think anyone has seen the best of Mikey Moore yet. Once he plays consistently and he gets that confidence and arrogance that he had in the youth team, then we'll see the best of Mikey, he is a top player.' He is also officially the youngest player to play for Spurs in the English Premier League, making his debut against Manchester City in May 2024 at the age of 16 years and 277 days. 'I still speak to Mikey now,' said Defoe. 'He's someone that wants to improve, he's a nice kid. I was so happy when I saw him come on last season in Europe and get his first goal, and he gave me a little mention in the interview after which was brilliant. My advice to him would be to keep working hard, keep improving every day on your game and working on your game every single day.

Rangers appear to have suffered a double injury setback ahead of their crunch Champions League second qualifying round second leg against Panathinaikos on Thursday. Russell Martin's side travel to Athens with a 2-0 advantage thanks to a pair of stunning second half strikes from Findlay Curtis and Djeidi Gassama in the first leg at Ibrox last week. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Rangers are bidding to reach the penultimate stage of Champions League qualification, with Viktoria Plzen or Servette awaiting the winner in the third qualifying round, while progressing through the tie will also ensure the guaranteed fallback of a place in the Conference League at the very least should Rangers fail to reach either the Champions League or Europa League. Rangers playmaker Thelo Aasgaard looks set to miss out against Panathinaikos. | SNS Group However, it looks like they will have to make do without two key first-team players for the clash in Greece after Thelo Aasgaard and Hamza Igamane were both posted missing from training on Wednesday. Neither player was involved as the Rangers squad were put through their paces at Auchenhowie in their final session ahead of boarding the plane to Athens on Tuesday afternoon. Aasgaard, a £3.5million summer signing from Luton Town, had been in a race against time to recover from an injury picked up in a pre-season friendly against Dunfermline on July 15. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Head coach Martin had hoped to have the Norwegian winger available for the second leg but it appears that the 23-year-old has not been able to recover in time. Igamame, meanwhile, sat out the weekend friendly draw against Middlesbrough at Ibrox after picking up a strain during his substitute appearance in the first leg win over Panathinaikos. He too appears to have lost his race to be fit to face the Greeks although the Moroccan was behind in his pre-season work due to visa issues. Igamane has also been at the centre of ongoing transfer speculation amid reported interest from the likes of Rennes, Lille, Feyenoord and Everton.
