Chennai Central (Dr M.G.R. Chennai Central Railway Station)
Secunderabad Railway Station (Hyderabad)
In a recent update, seven major Indian railways stations will get an AI-upgrade that will change the world of travel and passenger safety . These railway stations will introduce AI-powered facial recognition surveillance systems. The technical move is part of a broader plan to modernise and enhance public security with the help of technology.Every station experiences millions of passengers every year. A look at the seven railway stations:Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus is a UNESCO Heritage Site that also happens to be India's oldest and busiest railway station. You'll be amazed to know that the CST handles over 3 million passengers on a daily basis. The station is known for its interesting Victorian Gothic structure. Now with the help of AI and modern technology, the station will have a powerful tool to identify known offenders. The New Delhi Railway Station is known for handling more than 5 lakh passengers every day. The station remains overcrowded and the AI surveillance along with facial recognition will help track down potential offenders. It can also help in finding missing persons, especially during the festive seasons when the crowd is too much to handle.Howrah Junction is also among the busiest and oldest railway stations of India. The railway station serves thousands of passengers every day and is an important part of West Bengal's economy. AI-based facial recognition will help the station in identifying any suspects and missing persons. This is a major step in modernising Howrah railway station.Another station chosen for the upgrade is Kolkata's Sealdah Railway Station. The station connects local and regional destinations and AI will only help in handling the security, and real-time video analytics will allow authorities to spot troublemakers.Next on the list is Chennai Central which handles some 5 lakh passengers on a daily basis. The station serves long-distance trains and the introduction of AI surveillance will help in facial scanning and better crowd handling, among others.Hyderabad's Secunderabad Railway Station is also a part of the plan. The station handles lakhs of passengers from both South and Central India on a daily basis. The AI facial recognition tool, and automated surveillance alerts will help boost the security on the station.Bihar's one of the prominent stations, Danapur Railway Station will also get an AI boost. The station links destinations between Eastern and Northern India and is an important part of Patna. AI surveillance will add a new level of security to the station.

End of H-1B visa lottery? DHS plans to replace model with ‘weighted selection process'

The H-1B visa system might be in for a major shake-up. The Trump-era proposal is making waves again, as the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has submitted a fresh draft that could replace the current random lottery with a 'weighted selection' method for issuing H-1B visas, according to a Forbes report. H-1B visa lottery system might end(shutter stock) H-1B visa lottery to end? What to know Right now, the process is pretty straightforward: eligible applications are submitted, and then a computer-generated lottery picks who gets the limited spots. Around 85,000 visas are available each year under the cap, with 20,000 of them set aside for people who have a Master's degree or higher from a U.S. institution. But every year, demand far outpaces supply. So, what does 'weighted selection' mean exactly? That part is still unclear. The DHS has not shared many details publicly yet, but early analysis suggests that applications could be ranked based on factors like salary, education level, or even seniority. If that happens, it could completely change who benefits from the H-1B program. A study earlier this year by the Institute for Progress showed that if salaries were prioritized over random chance, the average H-1B recipient's pay could jump from about $106,000 to $172,000. That would make things much harder for outsourcing firms who rely on hiring large numbers of lower-wage workers, but could be a big plus for researchers, PhD holders, and senior-level tech professionals. Experts like Connor O'Brien from the Economic Innovation Group are in support of the change. He posted on X (formerly Twitter) that 'random allocation is insane' and that ranking by salary would better reflect the country's needs. For Indian workers, who made up over 70% of H-1B recipients in the last two years, these changes could have mixed results. Those with higher degrees or specialized roles might benefit, while others could find it harder to secure a visa. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is still working on the final draft of the rule, and it is expected to go through public review before anything is set in stone. But if passed, the new system could be in place as early as next year. FAQs 1. What is the new proposed change to the H-1B visa process? The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has proposed replacing the random H-1B lottery system with a weighted selection process that may prioritize applicants with higher salaries or advanced qualifications. 2. Will the H-1B lottery system be eliminated? Yes, if the proposal is approved, the current random lottery system could be replaced by a merit-based or salary-ranking system, especially for the capped portion of the H-1B visa program. 3. How will the new H-1B selection process affect Indian applicants? Indian nationals, who make up over 70% of H-1B recipients, may face tougher competition. The new system may favor highly paid or specialized applicants, possibly impacting outsourcing firms. 4. What is the current annual cap for H-1B visas? The H-1B visa program currently has an annual cap of 85,000 visas, including 20,000 spots reserved for applicants with a U.S. master's degree or higher.

AI startup Composio raises $25 million led by Lightspeed Venture Partners

Soham Ganatra and Karan Vaidya BENGALURU: Composio, a San Francisco-based infrastructure startup has raised $25 million in its latest round of funding as it aims to build foundational tools to make artificial intelligence (AI) agents capable of learning through experience. The integration startup, which simplifies how AI agents and large language models (LLMs) connect with external applications and services, was founded by Indian-origin entrepreneurs Soham Ganatra and Karan Vaidya. The latest $25 million Series A round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from Vercel CEO Guillermo Rauch, HubSpot founder Dharmesh Shah, Marathon Management Partners founding partner Gokul Rajaram, Rubrik founder Soham Mazumdar and institutional investors including SV Angel, Blitzscaling Ventures, Operator Partners and Agent Fund. Existing backers Elevation Capital and Together Fund also participated in the round. The startup had previously raised $4 million in seed funding. Composio is building what it describes as a shared learning layer for AI agents, enabling them to accumulate and transfer practical knowledge across workflows. For instance, when an agent learns how to handle a Salesforce or GitHub edge case, that insight becomes instantly available across the network, making agents more useful over time rather than remaining static. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Up to 70% off | Shop Sale Libas Undo 'You can spend hundreds of hours building LLM tools, tweaking prompts, and refining instructions, but you hit a wall,' said Ganatra, CEO of Composio. 'These models don't get better at their jobs the way a human employee would. We're solving this at the infrastructure level.' The company began building its stack in 2022 and has since tackled challenges around multi-agent coordination, secure authentication and scalable architecture. A core component of the platform is its reinforcement learning layer which is designed to help AI develop intuition. Composio's tools have attracted over 100,000 developers and more than 200 companies, including Glean and several Y Combinator startups such as April, OpenNote, Airweave, Den and Dash. With the new funding, Composio said plans to deepen its learning infrastructure and expand integrations with AI frameworks such as Supabase MCP, LangChain, Vercel AI SDK and OpenAI Agents. 'Composio is building the missing layer that makes AI agents genuinely useful in production,' said Raviraj Jain, partner at Lightspeed. 'By enabling agents to learn from experience, they're bridging the gap between impressive demos and real-world deployment.'
