Check Your Fridge, Costco Fans: a Popular Water Brand Got Recalled for Specific Reason
Costco shoppers beware!
The warehouse chain has recently issued a recall on a popular Coca-Cola product, Topo Chico Mineral Water (one of Delish's top-ranked seltzers). The recall is due to possible contamination with Pseudomonas, a bacteria that naturally occurs in water sources and soil. While the chain noted that the health consequences of consuming the contaminated water by healthy individuals are low, those with weakened immune systems could experience "potential minor health consequences."
Luckily, the recall doesn't seem to be widespread—shoppers at Costco's Texas and Louisiana warehouses are the only ones who need to check their fridges and pantries. The affected products include Topo Chico Mineral Water in 16.9-ounce bottles (or 500mL) in an 18-pack size with lot code #13A2541. The contaminated waters were sold between May 20, 2025, and May 29, 2025.
Costco suggests that customers who purchased any of the affected products return them to their local Costco for a full refund. Anyone with questions can call Coca-Cola at 1-800-GET-COKE. Unfortunately, this isn't the only Coca-Cola product to be recalled this year. Just a couple of months ago, the soda itself was recalled for containing plastic—yikes.
Of course, hydration is an important staple in everyday life, but in this case, let's not risk it and return those bottles ASAP.

Jim Cramer on Keurig Dr Pepper: 'I Don't Want to Touch That One'
Keurig Dr Pepper Inc. (NASDAQ:KDP) is one of the 12 stocks on Jim Cramer's radar recently. A caller asked if the company would be able to compete with Coca-Cola long term despite its 'high debt'. In response, Cramer said: 'Yeah, no, I don't want to touch that one. I think if you want to be in that space, you want to be in Coca-Cola. I think Coca-Cola has demonstrated, first of all, I don't want to be in that space because there's just… the Secretary of Health and Human Services is against it. The GLP-1s, the new one from Amgen, just makes it tougher and tougher. You don't want to be in the space…' A conveyor belt filled with assorted K-Cup pods, ready for packaging. Keurig Dr Pepper (NASDAQ:KDP) produces and distributes a wide range of beverages and single-serve brewing systems, including branded concentrates, ready-to-drink products, and coffee-related goods. Oakmark Select Fund stated the following regarding Keurig Dr Pepper Inc. (NASDAQ:KDP) in its Q4 2024 investor letter: 'Keurig Dr Pepper Inc. (NASDAQ:KDP) is one of North America's leading beverage companies, with dominant positions in single-serve coffee and flavored soft drinks. The soft drink portfolio has an impressive track record of volume growth and market share gains. We believe this performance can continue due to favorable demographic trends, brand strength, and distribution advantages. Recently, weakness in the Keurig coffee division caused the stock price to come under pressure. However, we believe these industry-wide challenges will prove transitory because coffee remains a popular beverage. Keurig's coffee division is poised to capitalize on this demand with the largest installed base of single-serve brewers and ample runway to increase household penetration. At the current quote, the market ascribes minimal value to Keurig. We were happy to purchase shares in this above-average business at a discount to the market multiple, other beverage peers and private market transactions.' While we acknowledge the potential of KDP as an investment, we believe certain AI stocks offer greater upside potential and carry less downside risk. Coca-Cola Recall Update as FDA Issues Risk Warning for Contaminated Drink
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has assigned its second most serious risk level, Class II, to a recall of Topo Chico mineral water, owned by The Coca-Cola Company, following the identification of potential contamination with Pseudomonas bacteria. Newsweek reached out to The Coca-Cola Company, which issued the recall, via email for comment outside of regular working hours. Why It Matters The FDA categorizes its recalls from Class I through to Class III. A Class II recall refers to instances when "use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences" or if the chance of "adverse health consequences is remote." Pseudomonas is a common group of bacteria. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is the type that most commonly causes infections, and patients in health care settings are the most vulnerable, including those on ventilators, those with catheters and those with open wounds, according to guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Getty Images What To Know The recall began on May 28, 2025, and was initiated by The Coca-Cola Company. The FDA issued the Class II risk classification on June 17, 2025. The recall was issued due to the potential presence of Pseudomonas in the mineral water. According to the FDA's release, "The firm was notified by their distributor that product placed on hold was released and shipped to customers." The recall involved 241 cases of Topo Chico Mineral Water Carbonated 16.9 fl oz (500 ml) bottles. The products can be identified by the following details: UPC: 0 21136 18061 9 (bottle), 0 21136 18062 6 (case) Lot Numbers: 11 A 2543, 12 A 2543, and 13 A 2541 Manufactured in Mexico by CIA. TOPO CHICO, S. DE R.L. DE C.V., Monterrey The affected bottles of Topo Chico were shipped to five states: Arizona, Louisiana, New Mexico, Nevada, and Texas. Coca-Cola has owned the sparkling mineral water brand Top Chico since 2017. The beverage giant owns a significant number of brands, including Sprite, Fanta, Smartwater and Powerade. What People Are Saying The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's guidance on Pseudomonas aeruginosa reads: "Pseudomonas is a group of bacteria commonly found in the environment, like in soil and water. The most common type causing infections among humans is Pseudomonas aeruginosa. P. aeruginosa can cause infections in the blood, lungs (pneumonia), urinary tract, or other parts of the body after surgery." What Happens Next The recall is ongoing.

10 healthiest Costco foods a dietitian always stocks up on — and how to incorporate them into your meals
Finding nutritious, convenient and affordable foods at the grocery store can be a tall task, especially when you're surrounded by a seemingly endless selection of options. Navigating the variety of products available Costco can also feel overwhelming, but a go-to place for Canadians to shop for groceries for their families and much more. Brittany Brown, a registered dietitian, certified diabetes educator and the founder of Feeding Babies, Nourishing Souls in Halifax, says Costco has a wide range of healthy and affordable options that are consistent and reliable. 'As a dietitian and mom, I love Costco for offering high-quality staples at a great value,' Brown said in an interview with Yahoo Canada. 'I often purchase the same things over and over again because they are nutrient dense, versatile, and family friendly.' Ahead, Brown shared 10 healthy Costco food staples to add to your grocery list. Kirkland mixed nuts make a frequent appearance in Brown's household because they're perfect for charcuterie boards, homemade trail mix and salads. They're also great for baking and can be added to muffins and cookie recipes. 'They're packed with plant-based protein and heart-healthy fats and they're a satisfying snack that supports satiety and blends in seamlessly with a Mediterranean-style diet,' she said. 'The large container also has a long shelf life, but you probably won't need it because these nuts are great in everything.' Liberte 2% yogurt is what Brown calls 'an MVP for versatility.' That's because it works as a sour cream substitute, a base for dips and dressings, and it can even be strained into a thicker Greek-style yogurt if you need a little more protein in your diet. Brown often uses it to make a quick chia pudding with cacao and chia seeds, both of which you can also find at Costco. 'I like to choose a yogurt with 2 per cent fat which keeps me fuller longer and adds a creamy texture without the excess sugar of flavoured varieties,' she said. This wild rice blend is nutty, chewy, and deeply satisfying. Brown added that it's one of her favourite ways to get whole grains on the table. 'It stores beautifully in the fridge and works as a base for grain bowls, stir-fries, soups, or hearty salads throughout the week,' she explained. Plus, it's organic, non-GMO, and she says you won't likely find it anywhere cheaper than Costco. Kirkland Almond Butter is smooth, rich and free from unnecessary additives; its only ingredient is roasted almonds. It's high in vitamin E and healthy fats and it's perfect for toast, apple slices, baking, sauces or even drizzled over warm oatmeal. 'I never let it run out,' Brown said. 'I love that on a day when I'm looking for a salty treat, this almond butter is salt-free, allowing me to sprinkle my own flaky sea salt atop whatever snack I'm eating. Currently it's bananas, almond butter and Malden sea salt.' This olive oil is light-tasting but rich in monounsaturated fats and an excellent heart-healthy option for everything from salad dressings to roasted veggies. Brown said she typically pours her olive oil into a glass jar. Some experts suggest a dark coloured glass jar to help prolong its shelf life by protecting it from sunlight. 'I usually suggest getting a glass jar to pour [it] into,' Brown said. 'The 3L jugs are a little big for my pantry but I love getting to refill a jar multiple times.' These individually portioned fillets make it easy to get omega-3s on the table, even when you're in a hurry. They can go straight from the freezer to the oven or grill and make for a quick and healthy weeknight dinner with little fuss. 'Nutritionally, trout is an excellent source of protein, vitamin D and heart-healthy fats,' Brown said. 'The vacuum packs keep fish fresh straight out of the freezer.' These tiny seeds are nutritional powerhouses that are high in omega-3s, fibre and a great option for plant-based protein. 'I use them in puddings, smoothies, salad toppers and even to make homemade jam,' she said. 'The bulk size makes it affordable to experiment and incorporate them into meals daily.' Spinach from Costco might just offer the best value for any leafy green, Brown said. It's incredibly versatile and can be tossed into smoothies, soups, sauces, eggs, or wraps. Nutrient-wise, it delivers folate, iron, vitamin C and vitamin K in every handful. To extend its shelf life, Brown likes to line the container or bag with paper towel to soak up excess moisture, or freeze it before it spoils. These frozen raspberries can be used in everything from yogurt bowls to smoothies to snack boards to muffins to salads. 'Raspberries are low in sugar and high in fibre, which is great for blood sugar balance and gut health,' Brown said. 'They're a vibrant, functional fruit that feels like a treat but works hard for your body.' Brown suggested stocking up on the frozen variety during the off-season when the price of fresh raspberries increases. Hummus works double-time as both a snack and an ingredient. It's high in fibre and plant protein and an easy way to nourish your body at any time of day. 'I spread it on wraps, dip crackers or veggies into it, and even mix it with a little cacao for a fun twist with strawberries,' Brown said.
