The Nifty Media index has surged over 27 per cent in the last four months and is now seen testing the 200-Day Moving Average (200-DMA) resistance on the daily chart since the breakdown in mid-December 2024. The Nifty Media 200-DMA stands at 1,764. That apart, the Media index is also attempting a significant breakout on the weekly scale as it tests hurdle at the super trend line. TIL Creatives Fashion tech startup Zilo has raised $4.5 million in a seed funding round co-led by Info Edge Ventures and Chiratae Ventures, as the company looks to expand its quick commerce model for urban fashion Mumbai-based startup plans to use the capital to strengthen its hybrid supply chain, deepen brand partnerships, and expand beyond Mumbai to other metro cities by the end of the year. Founded by Padmakumar Pal, a former senior executive at ecommerce platforms Flipkart and Myntra, and Bhavik Jhaveri, Zilo delivers fashion and lifestyle products from over 250 brands, including Levi's, Louis Philippe, Puma, and The Souled Store, in under 60 minutes. The company said it also offers scheduled home trials, instant returns, and AI-powered style recommendations."Zilo is creating a space which has the best blend of Online and Offline retail experiences, where speed, quality, and curation can coexist. The current landscape is cluttered, overwhelming and less reliable, especially for the discerning consumers who value both convenience and style," CEO Pal of the upcoming festive season, the company plans to expand into new categories such as footwear, bags, and accessories, and scale up to 100,000 styles across its platform.'Our other quick commerce investments have proven three constants for the consumer; speed sparks adoption, personalisation grows conversions and basket size, and trust in consistent delivery fuels loyalty and frequency,' said Kitty Agarwal, partner at Info Edge Ventures. 'Zilo aims to deliver on all three fronts with 60 minutes' delivery, Home Trials, instant returns, and a hand-picked curation of the best brands.' Zilo's fundraise comes amid rising interest in ultra-fast fashion delivery from both emerging brands and large ecommerce players. Brands such as Newme, Slikk, Blip, and Snitch, along with platforms such as Myntra and Ajio, are focusing on rapid delivery. Slikk recently raised $10 million in a round led by Nexus Venture Partners. Earlier this month, omnichannel menswear brand Snitch raised around $40 million in a round led by 360 One Asset (formerly IIFL Wealth & Asset Management). Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Minister for skill development, entrepreneurship and innovation Mangal Prabhat Lodha on Friday said state would arrange Rs1,200 crore to upgrade all govt-run industrial training institutes in Maharashtra over the next three years. The ITIs will have state-of-the-art machinery at workshops, and advanced courses," he said at the unveiling of a coffee table book published by the Maharashtra Times. Themed on the coronation of Maratha warrior king Shivaji Maharaj, the book covers the celebration of the 351st anniversary of the historic event at different ITIs and other institutions. Lodha said that artificial intelligence, drone technology, and robotics are some of the emerging fields that will be covered in courses offered by ITIs. "As an infrastructural expansion, every ITI will see construction of nearly 1,800 square feet of additional space. It will be utilised for accommodating additional machinery and running courses." State govt has plans to offer loans up to Rs10 lakh to youths completing ITI, diploma, and degree courses in engineering and technology, among other fields, for entrepreneurship development, the minister said. "Govt will bear 50% of the interest rate. We target a minimum of one crore youth for the disbursal of such loans." Lodha further said the disbursal of such loans is part of state's proposed innovation policy. "We have charted out a comprehensive policy to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and research. The policy will be tabled before state cabinet for final approval." The coffee table book, which was released in association with the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training, is a formal tribute to Shivaji Maharaj, the minister said. "It will inspire everyone to follow the path shown by the Maratha warrior king. It will infuse new confidence in our youth."

Sensex, Nifty trade with minor gains; media shares in demand

The domestic equity benchmarks traded with small gains in the mid- afternoon trade. The Nifty hovered above the 25,600 level. Media stocks rebounded after slipping in the last session. At 14:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, jumped 190.23 points or 0.23% to 83,946.39. The Nifty 50 index added 66.55 points or 0.26% to 25,615.95. The broader market outperformed the frontline indices. The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index rose 0.46% and the S&P BSE Small-Cap index added 0.65%. The market breadth was strong. On the BSE, 2,137 shares rose and 964 shares fell. A total of 151 shares were unchanged. Buzzing Index: The Nifty Media index rose 0.60% to 1,754.35. The index fell 1.09% in the previous trading session. Sun TV Network (up 1.59%), Zee Entertainment Enterprises (up 0.83%), PVR Inox (up 0.58%), D B Corp (up 0.46%) and Dish TV India (up 0.41%), Saregama India (up 0.4%), Tips Music (up 0.28%) added. On the other hand, Network 18 Media & Investments (down 0.74%), Nazara Technologies (down 0.3%) and Hathway Cable & Datacom (down 0.06%) declined. Numbers to Track: The yield on India's 10-year benchmark federal paper rose 0.38% to 6.298 from the previous close of 6.274. In the foreign exchange market, the rupee edged higher against the dollar. The partially convertible rupee was hovering at 85.4875 compared with its close of 85.7200 during the previous trading session. MCX Gold futures for 5 August 2025 settlement fell 1.32% to Rs 95,808. The US Dollar Index (DXY), which tracks the greenback's value against a basket of currencies, was down 0.09% to 97.21. The United States 10-year bond yield added 0.42% to 4.270. In the commodities market, Brent crude for August 2025 settlement rose 63 cents or 0.93% to $68.36 a barrel.
