Whether you are a beginner in the field of sports, someone seeking a new challenge or elite athletes pushing their limits, the UAE capital has announced that it will plan the world's largest indoor race on July 19.
HYROX Abu Dhabi will be held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) and promises to be a standout event on the emirate's sporting calendar.
The event is expected to bring together athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and gym-goers for a dynamic and high-energy competition filled with strength, endurance, and excitement.
HYROX is one of the fastest-growing fitness races globally, combining running and functional fitness exercises in a unique and standardized format that caters to all fitness levels.
The highly anticipated event is organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council in collaboration with HYROX, and it will be held during Abu Dhabi Summer Sports (ADSS).
Race format? Who can join?
The race format includes eight 1-kilometer runs, each followed by a different functional workout, creating a comprehensive test of stamina and strength.
Participants can compete individually (male and female divisions), in pairs (male, female, or mixed), in pro-divisions for advanced athletes, or relay division for teams of four, encouraging teamwork and collaboration.
HYROX Abu Dhabi will also feature an Adaptive Division—designed to welcome athletes with physical disabilities, reinforcing the race's commitment to accessibility and inclusivity.

Take a look: In a sign of appreciation and love to Sheikh Mohamed, some children placed a kiss on the leader's forehead The children, who wore sports attire, were participating in Abu Dhabi Summer Sports (ADSS); the Middle East's largest indoor sports festival, held annually at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi. Designed to provide a fun, safe, and healthy escape from the summer heat, ADSS includes events for sports like football, basketball, tennis, badminton, padel, volleyball, table tennis, cricket. During his visit to encourage the athletes, Sheikh Mohamed also talked to expats and posed for photos with them. Such heartwarming encounters with the President occur occasionally. Abu Dhabi's shoreline is about to get a little more traditional – and a lot more exciting. Starting June 30, the Noukhthat Abu Dhabi programme sets sail from the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, inviting over 200 young sailors and sea-loving hopefuls to dive into the rich world of traditional Emirati dhow sailing. Backed by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, this two-month initiative isn't just a summer activity – it's a cultural mission. The programme is focused on teaching the fundamentals of dhow navigation, with an eye on preparing participants for the 22-foot dhow racing scene, a key pillar of the UAE's maritime identity. Supported by @AbuDhabiSC, Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Academy has organised Noukhthat Abu Dhabi.
