He added that all five received immediate medical attention with the help of specialist doctors at the hospital soon after the incident.
"With the aid and expertise of the doctors at HSA, I believe we can provide the best possible care for them. We pray for their recovery so they can resume their duties as usual," he told Bernama during a visit to HSA on Thursday.
Mohd Khalid noted that three of the victims are members of the police Air Unit, while the other two are stationed at the Tanjung Kupang police station.
The police-owned AS355 helicopter reportedly crashed near the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Jetty in Gelang Patah while performing a ceremonial flypast as part of the Mitsatom 2025 exercises, involving Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) confirmed the crash involved an AS355N helicopter, with the registration number 9M-PHG. According to CAAM, the helicopter, operated by the police, took off from the Tanjung Kupang police station at 9:51am, with five aboard, including the pilot.
Addressing claims that the helicopter was outdated, Mohd Khalid asserted that age was not a critical issue if proper maintenance is conducted.
"Age is not the problem; proper maintenance is key. What happened is beyond our control," he stated.
The IGP also assured that the police will take care of all involved officers and their families' welfare.
CAAM has announced that further investigation will be carried out by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau under the Transport Ministry, in accordance with Part XXVI of the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016. - Bernama

Teachers Advised To Avoid Joining Motivational Programmes With Unclear Content

NIBONG TEBAL, July 14 (Bernama) -- Ministry of Education (MOE) members are advised not to join motivational programmes, organised by external entities, that do not have clear content. Its minister, Fadhlina Sidek said teachers need to refer to the ministry for appropriate support. "We should avoid getting involved in motivational programmes whose content and 'substance' we are unsure of. "We should focus on our issues at the school level,' she said in a media conference after visiting Sekolah Menegah Kebangsaan (SMK) Taman Widuri here today. She was giving her comments and advice to educators if they were involved in the marriage motivation programme (eHATI) targeting working women facing household crises. Elaborating further, Fadhlina said the MOE has various development and motivational programmes for teachers, including counselling services that can be fully utilised. 'We do not want our teachers involved in programmes that can raise doubts or undermine the integrity of the teaching profession. We provide many internal development programmes. "Therefore, my advice is to be careful. Avoid participating in inappropriate external programmes. Focus on motivation in our education," she said. Yesterday, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed that an inquiry paper had been opened to identify criminal offences related to the eHATI marriage motivational programme, which was accused of promoting inappropriate and provocative content.

Drugs Worth RM3.55 Million Seized, Two Vietnamese Women Among Three Arrested

JOHOR BAHRU, July 14 (Bernama) -- Police seized various types of drugs worth RM3.55 million and arrested a local man and two Vietnamese women in special operations conducted on July 10 and 11. Johor police chief Datuk M. Kumar said the three suspects, aged between 32 and 39, were arrested during separate raids conducted by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department of the state police and the Johor Baru Selatan district police. He said the syndicate, which is believed to be active since April last year, used gated and guarded residences to store and process the drugs before distributing them to the local market. According to him, the drugs were seized following the arrest of the local man by a roadside, which then led the police to raid a rented room in a shophouse here. "The suspect also led the police to conduct raids at three luxury condominium units, also rented by him, where more drugs were seized and two Vietnamese women were arrested," he told a press conference at the Johor Police Contingent Headquarters, here today He said that in total, the police seized 20.7 kilogrammes (kg) of powder, suspected to be ecstasy, 18.49 kg of marijuana, 154.25 grams of ketamine and 141 grams of erimin 5 pills, as well as various equipment for processing and repackaging drugs, as well as RM800 in cash. He said the current drug trafficking trend also appears to be shifting towards marijuana flowers, based on recent seizures. ''This may be because marijuana flowers have a higher hallucinogenic effect due to their purity, besides being more expensive, with an estimated market value of RM36,000 per kilogramme," he said. Kumar said all the suspects, who tested positive for methamphetamine, were on remand until July 17, and the case was being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 6(3) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.

(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA: The police have busted a syndicate that used sexual blackmail tactics to prey on its victims with the arrest of nine suspects, including two women and a teenager. Berita Harian reported that the suspects, aged 17 to 50 years old, were arrested in an operation from June 20 to July 1 around Johor Bahru and Kulai in Johor. Johor police chief M Kumar said the syndicate, which had been operating since last November, had its female members create fake social media accounts to entice its victims into making lewd video calls. He said they would then send the victim a mobile link, which would access the victim's photo gallery and contact list when clicked. 'The syndicate persuaded its victims to commit lewd acts on video calls, which would be recorded and used to blackmail them for money. 'The victims were generally forced to make payments of RM500 to RM1,000, and threatened with the distribution of their lewd videos to their contacts, including their family,' he said. Kumar said the syndicate also recruited non-schooling teenagers on social media as workers, paying them RM2,200 to RM4,000. He said they would be trained before being forced to work in other countries, such as Indonesia, Laos, and Thailand. The raids saw the rescue of three such victims, aged 15 to 16 years old. 'These teenagers would be locked up and forced to work 12 hours a day, and beaten if they refused to cooperate. 'Though they were given two-week breaks, their movements were still controlled and their mobile phones and identity cards confiscated. 'Those looking to quit would have to pay RM30,000 to be set free,' he said. Kumar said the raids saw the seizure of 27 mobile phones, identity cards, flight tickets, money exchange receipts, laptops, 49 SIM cards and a modem, among others. The suspects in custody, including the mastermind, are being investigated under the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007, as well as the National Registration Regulations 1990, Passport Act 1966, Penal Code and Societies Act 1966. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
