Mitch Cohen's Blackbook: Five to follow from Hawkesbury Saturday
FIVE TO FOLLOW
AERODROME (1st, Race 3)
Two wins from two by this promising son of Ole Kirk after his determined victory in the Clarendon Stakes. Stakes tests await in Queensland and he's going to make his presence felt.

HEREWARD (2nd, Race 3)
Take nothing away from the Aerodrome but this juvenile deserves plenty of credit after leading the field up and sticking on for second on debut over 1400m. He won't be a maiden for long.
JUST PARTY (2nd, Race 6)
A gelding operation appears to have done the trick with this Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou-trained galloper making an excellent return to just come up short in the Hawkesbury Guineas. He's in for a great prep.

Burst through closer to the inside before getting gunned down by a race fit horse in Dragonstone with In Flight close up as well. It was a more than acceptable return and bodes well for the prep ahead over the winter months.
HOLLYWOOD HERO (4th, Race 10)
It was a race dominated by on-speed runners but he ran on well enough fresh from a break to just miss the placings. He's not a noted first-up performer so he looks set for a fruitful campaign.

STEWARDS SAY
Starboard (Race 1): Hung in throughout the event and proved difficult to ride. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities apart from losing its off-fore plate during running.
Damien (Race 3): Did not respond to his riding and was disappointing in the manner in which it closed off the race. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
Coco Jamboo (Race 7): A power malfunction of the barriers delayed the start significantly and the mare was ultimately flat-footed when they jumped, losing five lengths. Stewards placed a warning on her barrier manners.
Celui (Race 9): Was found to have bled for the first time and is now banned from racing for three months.
Fire Star (Race 9): Did not handle the Heavy track and was further disadvantaged by being obliged to race close to the rail in the home straight. No abnormalities were found but his post-race condition will be followed up.

THE CLOCK SAID
Aerodrome (Race 3): Trailed pacesetter Hereward in the run and did his best work late to overpower the David Payne-trained galloper. Aerodrome's last 600m was 34.86 seconds with runner-up Hereward in 35.22.
Able Willie (Race 4): Only had one runner behind him at the 600m before surging home to win. He was the only horse to break 34 in the race, surging home with a last 600m of 33.75 seconds.
Willing and able! Able Willie wins first up for @cwallerracing and @nashhot ðŸ' @hawkesburyrc pic.twitter.com/TQO30p68lm

Media World (race 6): Was able to control the speed from the front in the Hawkesbury Guineas before holding on with a last 600m of 34.81 seconds. Runner-up Just Party ran the same distance in a faster 34.06 but couldn't run him down.
City Of Lights (race 7): Camped in behind the leaders, this mare surged home in the Hawkesbury Crown with a last 600m of 33.32. Defending champ Coco Jamboo missed the start before finishing off in a race-best 33.13.

TRACK TALK
'I have never had a horse with a pedigree like hers. It's a pedigree made in heaven, a half-sister to Winx by one of the best stallions (Deep Impact) to stand on the planet.' Joe Pride on City Of Lights.
'We were very tempted to geld him but Yulong wanted to give me one more chance with him as a colt and I'm glad they did.' Peter Snowden on Media World.
'I'm hoping he could emerge as a Stradbroke Handicap – he's heading in the right direction, that's for sure.' Snowden again.
'I could hardly pull him up after the post. He has a bright future.'' Regan Bayliss on Aerodrome.
'I will see how he pulls up but all going well we will look at Brisbane now for Aerodrome.' Michael Freedman.
'You could expect him to half not want to be here but he was better than last week.'' Nash Rawiller after Punch Lane 's latest win.

YOU CAN BET ON IT
Hawkesbury Crown
City Of Lights was well supported and got backed into $6 after opening at $11. There was winning $2000 wager at $5.50 placed.
Hawkesbury Gold Cup
All the money was for Punch Lane and the favourite saluted at $2.30 with a weight of dough behind it. Big wins included a $10,000 bet on the winner at $2.30 and a separate $9000 wager placed at $2.20.
Hawkesbury Gold Rush
Dragonstone was on the fourth line of TAB betting but had drifted out from $6 to $7.50 by the time it saluted. One TAB punter had $2000 each-way on the winner at $5/$1.85.

THE SCHEDULE
Monday: Grafton, Gunnedah
Tuesday: Kembla Grange
Wednesday: Warwick Farm
Thursday: Goulburn, Wyong
Friday: Coffs Harbour
Saturday: Kembla Grange, Gosford, Lismore, Glen Innes
Sunday: Mudgee, Queanbeyan
â– â– â– â– â–
RON DUFFICY'S HAWKESBURY SNAPSHOT
RUN OF THE DAY
Punch Lane has had a real crack doing it both ends winning over the past three weeks in a row. He is in rare form and is a credit to his trainers Anthony and Sam Freedman.
FORGET THEY RAN
No dramatic hard luck stories on the day although I'd be forgiving of horses that got back and had to make their run out wide while the well fancied Celui bled which explains his failure.
THE BLACKBOOK
Aerodrome is a lovely two-year-old that could well be a force during the Queensland Winter Carnival while Just Party was terrific first-up as a gelding and might be ready to go through his grades this campaign.
Nash Rawiller did it best with a riding double and two close seconds.

Coffs Harbour preview: Wet conditions and home track advantage can help Ostracised in his Cup bid
Ostracised, once touted a Kosciuszko horse, could in fact be a Big Dance horse if he can deliver a hometown boilover in the Coffs Harbour Cup. Apart from its prestige and a whopping $150,000 purse, the added incentive of Big Dance Eligibility has drawn together a first class field of New South Wales, Queensland and Canberra housed gallopers. So deep is this year's Coffs Harbour Cup (1600m) that Ostracised went up as a $51 shot. A mission which his part owner and trainer Donna Grisedale acknowledges is a difficult one but not impossible. 'I wouldn't put him in it if I didn't think he would run a decent race,' Grisedale said. 'Home track, wet track, good barrier, he has got a few things in his favour but there are some outstanding city-class horses in the race. Ostracised claims the Maclean Cup! ðŸ† â€' SKY Racing (@SkyRacingAU) July 20, 2025 The Form: Complete NSW Racing thoroughbred form, including video replays and all you need to know about every horse, jockey and trainer. Find a winner here! 'He has gone up 19 points in two runs so I have kind of been forced into these sort of situations with him.' One of those benchmark accruing performances came as a result of Ostracised's emphatic on-pace win in the Maclean Cup (1425m). What made the gelding's victory all the more important; the outcome - and the manner of it - was inspiration enough for a tilt at the Cup. That said, Ostracised running a mile is not something anyone would have expected, least of all Grisedale herself. 'We only had him down as a 1000m, 1100m horse completely and then everything just sort of changed because he was just getting run off his legs,' she said. 'So we just stepped him up 1100m to 1200m and it has just gone from there. 'He was strong through the line (in the Maclean Cup) so 1600m is certainly worth a try. 'Six is a good barrier for him, he should be up there on the speed for sure.' Grisedale will also have a runner in the co-feature Daniel Baker Showcase Sprint (1200m), namely Bow. Ostracised wins the Woolgoolga Diggers Cup! ðŸ† @mallyon_andrew â€' SKY Racing (@SkyRacingAU) June 20, 2025 A son of Black Caviar's sire, Bel Esprit, Bow will require a further upgrade in the track it seems to have any chance of capturing the time-honoured annual event. 'He hasn't drawn too bad and again the home track is always good for him,' Grisedale said. 'It is a suitable race for him, it's just that it is going to be wet.' The Coffs Harbour Cup Day meeting coincides with the start of the new season. Grisedale is rightfully looking forward to what the stable's raw but talented now four-year-old Piedi Veloci can deliver in the Rob Young Country Boosted Showcase Maiden Plate (1400m) and throughout 2025/26 up to an including even the Country Championships. 'He is going to go out after Friday's run and I dare say he will come back a more furnished horse and certainly a lot more switched on and hopefully not doing so many things wrong,' says Grisedale. 'He just needs to mature. 'He'd have to win a couple of races and he is certainly capable of doing that so if he can come back and put one or two wins together (the Country Championships) would be ideal for him.' â– â– â– â– â– The weather, the weight and the lure of a crack at a $3 million race on the first Tuesday in November are the three reasons why It's A Knockout will be at Coffs Harbour and not at Rosehill this weekend. The Ciaron Maher -trained It's A Knockout is a red-hot favourite for both her city and country (proposed) missions off the back of a booming first-up win at Royal Randwick followed by her honourable third there at her subsequent start. While the daughter of Triple Crown winner Dundeel will have a 1000km round trip on the first day of the new season, it could pay off in spades both in the immediacy and later in the year, November 4 to be exact. 'It's a business decision,' said Dean Watt, the founder of Dynamic Syndications, who bought the stakes-placed mare at the Gold Coast for $150,000 as a yearling. 'First of all, we have got one eye on the weather but that's not the be all and end all however, whether Rosehill gets all-the-way through on Saturday is a question mark. It's A Knockout KO's them first up at Randwick! 🥊 @cmaherracing @NockBraith @aus_turf_club â€' SKY Racing (@SkyRacingAU) June 21, 2025 'And Coffs (Harbour) at this stage has only had a sprinkle of rain that Sydney has had so you know the races are going to go on up there.' Watt, who has won a Golden Slipper and a Blue Diamond (among other features), was also keen to shield It's A Knockout from any potential huge rise in her benchmark rating should she have won in Sydney on the weekend. 'The Coffs Harbour Cup is Big Dance eligible and if you don't win it but you run second, you're Little Dance eligible,' he added. 'And there is only six grands worth of difference (between Rosehill and Coffs Harbour). 'Her benchmark is still going to go up but the horse becomes eligible to run in a $3 million or $1 million race.' The 2024/25 season concludes the 20th season that the ubiquitous Dynamic Syndications silks have been worn (including in this year's Everest). Watt's clients shared in 61 winners for the season, 20 of them city winners, taking his firm's overall tally close to 1000. In that time, Dynamic horses have returned a 90 per cent winners to runners while a phenomenal 98.1 per cent of the string earned prizemoney.

Warwick Farm preview: Dynamic Syndications aim to cap a stellar season on a victorious note in final metropolitan meeting
Dynamic Syndications have enjoyed another great season and are looking to end it on a high with another winner or two in the final metropolitan meeting. The Dean and Adam Watt-run Dynamic Syndications is just win away from equalling last year's haul of 62 winners. 'It's been a really good season. We aim for 52 winners each year – an average of a winner a week,' Adam Watt said. 'This season we have had 61 winners so far and 20 of them have been in town. 'That's the most winners we've had in town for a long time. 'It would be great if we can end with another winner or two.' Dynamic is represented by four genuine chances at Warwick Farm headed by Naval Commission in the TAB Handicap (2200m). The gelding has placed in three of his four runs this preparation and was an unlucky fifth at Rosehill last start. 'He should have won last time out. The gap unfortunately shut at the worst possible time as he was motoring home,' Watt said. 'He is tailor-made for the 2200 metres and I love the fact that rain is forecast. If it's a wet track, he grows a leg. 'This is just a really suitable race for him.' âš'ï¸ Naval Commission leads all the way and makes it three in a row! @aus_turf_club @nashhot @cmaherracing — SKY Racing (@SkyRacingAU) June 5, 2024 One of Dynamic's metropolitan winners was African Daisy in the Midway at Rosehill on July 5, a win Watt and her connections gained great satisfaction. 'It was great to see her break through after such a long time between wins. It had been 889 days between drinks for her,' he said. 'She is a horse who loves wet ground and I can't see any reason why she can't go back-to-back. She has trained on really well.' Provided the track is wet, the six-year-old lines up in the Traffic Warden @ Darley Handicap (1300m) in which she has barrier 12 but Watt isn't concerned by the outside gate. 'This does look a nice for her and I actually like the draw,' he said. 'By the time they come to the last race at Warwick Farm, they will be wanting to get away from the inside section. It's just one turn.' Just In Time scored her first win in 20 months when victorious at Hawkesbury first-up on June 17 although she did spend quite some time on the sidelines during that time. The four-year-old then followed with another smart win at Newcastle. She is chasing a hat-trick in the Myplates Handicap (1600m). 'She has always been a horse who has shown above average talent which is why we were ambitious and went to Flemington for a Group 3 at her second start,' Watt said. 'She has unfortunately had some niggles along the way since then. 'She is starting to get back to the form that we always felt she had. 'She ran home in 32.74 at Hawkesbury first-up on a Soft 5. If she can jump and lead around Warwick Farm, they could have a hard time reeling her in.' Watt has been pleased with the performances of Dollars this time in and gives him a good chance in the Keeneland September Yearling Sale Handicap (1600m). 'He is knocking on the door and I think this is a beautiful race for him,' he said. 'He is down in the weights and I think he will really appreciate the services of a senior rider in Ash Morgan. 'He's rock hard fit, comes off a good run over the mile and is drawn to get a lovely run. 'I think he's a great each-way chance.'
