Silent Hill and Siren series creator Keiichiro Toyama just made a comeback with last year's sometimes absurd, genre-bleeding action-horror Slitterhead, but he's already working on another new game at his company Bokeh Studios.
Speaking with Famitsu to celebrate the opening of an art exhibition based on Slitterhead, Toyama explains that he originally opened the development studio with the ambition of working on various genres and ceding control to younger talent, which is something fellow horror icon Shinji Mikami also accomplished with Tango Gameworks (The Evil Within, Hi-Fi Rush.)
"I can't reveal the exact details, but we have started working on our next title," Toyama says (thanks for the translations, Automaton). "In the beginning, we wanted this to be a studio where we could do many different things, like implementing the ideas of younger generations and even working on more light-hearted projects."
"Once again, we have to pour in all our efforts as a studio and prove that we are up to the task. We are currently working towards that goal. However, we're still in the beginning phase, so I believe we'll be able to reveal more details [about the next game] somewhere in the future." Toyama was pretty tight-lipped on specifics, but he did say it won't manifest as a sequel to Slitterhead, which unfortunately didn't sell as well as the he would've hoped despite probably having what it takes to become a cult classic in a few generations.
While his next mysterious game is going full steam ahead, the horror icon's not sure how many hits he still has left up his sleeve. "As for how long we'll be able to continue, it becomes a difficult topic especially if we take my age into consideration," the 55-year-old said. "However, I believe that moving forward, I also have to pass the baton to the next generation."

Sonija Kwok denies marital woe with husband

28 Jul - Sonija Kwok was shocked and flabbergasted after a new rumour has emerged that she and husband Zhu Shaojie are no longer together. The whole issue started with a video she shared on social media, where she and her daughter Kylie went on a holiday to Maldives together without her husband. She wrote, "It's time to get moving and go see the world. I was in Maldives last year at this time. Our destination is Vietnam this year. Btw, happy birthday to me." The absence of Zhu had since sparked a speculation among fans that the two have ended their marriage. Sonija immediately released a response on Instagram, writing, "Thank you all for your concern. Never thought of a mum and daughter adventure would lead to rumours. My husband's movie in the mainland is in full swing, and it's really impossible [for him] to find time to leave and come with us." "My daughter and I both understand and thank my husband for his hard work so we can travel, eat, drink and have fun," she added. Kelly Cheung sparks breakup rumours with long-term boyfriend

28 Jul - Rumours are rife that Kelly Cheung's long-term relationship with boyfriend Mark Brunyez has come to an end. As reported on Oriental Daily, the actress sparked the rumour after posting a cryptic message on social media that read, "An unexpected break from filming and I'm cherishing every quiet moment at home. This year brought some major personal changes. Finally taking time to settle into this new chapter and figure out who I am and what I truly need." "Change is not easy, but I believe everything is the best arrangement," she added. Further fuelling the rumour was a comment made by good friend Angel Chu that read, "No matter what, I'll always be here for you. You're loved, and you're never alone. Can't wait until you come back to Hong Kong so we can be together. Miss you." In addition to the post, netizens also noticed that the two have unfollowed each other on Instagram and that all of their photos together have been deleted. The two had been together for eight years prior to the breakup rumours. In June last year, Kelly admitted that she was not mentally prepared to settle down and have children yet. Head Shaolin monk investigated for alleged embezzlement and affairs

Shi Yongxin, the abbot of the world-renowned Shaolin Temple, is being investigated for offences including embezzlement, "improper relationships with multiple women" and "having illegitimate children", the temple said. In a statement on Sunday, Shaolin temple said multiple departments were jointly investigating Mr Shi and more information would be made public in due course. The 1,500-year-old Shaolin Temple, located in a mountain range in central China's Henan province, attracts thousands of disciples every year - some from across the world. Mr Shi, who has been Shaolin Temple's abbot since 1999, has earned the nickname "CEO monk" for transforming the institution into a global brand. Under his leadership, the temple started opening schools outside China and formed a travelling troupe of monks who performed Shaolin kung fu shows - the temple's signature style of martial arts. News of Mr Shi being investigated was the most read topic on Weibo on Monday morning. The last post on his own Weibo account, which has more than 880,000 followers and had been updated daily with Buddhist teachings, is dated 24 July. Mr Shi also came under scrutiny in 2015 for allegedly having sexual relations with women and embezzling temple funds. He also allegedly received expensive gifts from companies and local governments, including a Volkswagen SUV and a robe with gold thread. He was investigated at the time for embezzlement and fathering several children, but was later cleared of the charges. In an interview with BBC Chinese in 2015, Mr Shi was asked about the allegations of corruption and affairs with women. "If there were a problem, it would have surfaced long ago," he said at the time. Shaolin Temple also came under fire in 2015 over a plan to build a nearly $300m temple complex which also included a hotel, a kung fu school and a golf course. The name "Shaolin" has gained prominence in pop culture over the years, including being the title of a 1982 film starring Jet Li. The temple is referenced in songs by American hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan and inspired a spinoff of the video game Mortal Kombat.
