Morgan Stanley
backed its bullish stance on U.S. equities on Monday, citing strong earnings momentum, and said it was expecting a modest pullback in the third quarter that could create an opportunity to buy the dip. The Wall Street brokerage is leaning more towards its bull case of the benchmark S&P 500 hitting 7,200 points by the middle of the year, it wrote in a note. In May, the brokerage said the S&P 500 was expected to hit 6,500 in the second quarter of 2026.
"With earnings on solid footing into next year and the Fed closer to cutting rates, valuations can remain supported around current levels (~22x) as we think about the 12-month outlook," Morgan Stanley equity strategists led by Michael Wilson said.

However, the brokerage said rising Treasury yields - especially the 10-year note breaching above 4.5% - could increase rate sensitivity for equities and an underperformance of rate-sensitive stocks such as small caps.
Morgan Stanley also expects tariff-related cost pressures to show up later this year, which could impact company margins and bump up inflation, leading to a change in rate cut expectations by the Federal Reserve.

Rs 11 lakh school fee of Google-employed couple's child makes a man rethink his Rs 20 lakh MBA plans

As the cost of private education continues to rise in India's major cities, a recent online discussion has brought attention to how wealthy families are spending staggering amounts on elite schooling. The conversation was sparked by a viral Reddit post that revealed a Google-employed couple spends Rs 11.2 lakh annually on their child's school fees—prompting many to reflect on privilege, class gaps, and the role of expensive institutions in shaping access and opportunity. Eye-Catching School Expense The Reddit post came from a user who claimed to work in a junior position at a small wealth management firm. While reviewing client data, the individual came across the financial details of a young couple who both work at Google and reportedly earn a combined Rs 60 lakh annually. What stood out in their yearly cash flow was a school fee entry amounting to Rs 11.2 lakh for their only child. The Redditor also reflected on their own financial choices, sharing how they still hesitate over whether to invest Rs 20–30 lakh in an MBA, highlighting the stark contrast in financial situations. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Many Are Watching Tariffs - Few Are Watching What Nvidia Just Launched Seeking Alpha Read More Undo Internet Reacts: Questions of Privilege, Access, and Intent The post quickly gained traction, sparking a conversation around the culture of elite education. Many users commented on how such high-fee institutions cater to the ultra-rich, offering not just academics but social positioning through association with similarly wealthy peer groups. One commenter pointed out that spending on premium education isn't just about learning—it's often about building networks and absorbing a particular mindset. According to them, what these parents are buying is entry into a social ecosystem that helps children see themselves as part of the country's economic elite from a young age. Others took a more critical tone. A few users questioned whether such spending was justified, especially in a country where access to quality education remains unequal. One sarcastic remark noted that the taxes paid by such couples might be indirectly funding government school education for several other children—and possibly even the foreign education of a politician's child. Not all reactions focused on criticism. Some users shared that even if they could afford such fees, they would still choose more modest schools for their children. These users expressed concerns about the values children might pick up in highly privileged environments. One response emphasized the importance of raising children who remain grounded, empathetic, and in touch with the realities of the broader society, rather than isolated in a bubble of affluence.

Over 2L farmers, horticulturists adopt chemical-free farming in nearly all panchayats of Himachal: CM

Shimla: Himachal is witnessing a rise in natural farming. Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Friday said more than 2.23 lakh farmers and horticulturists have adopted chemical-free farming, either partially or fully, in almost all the panchayats of the state. With this, Himachal has become the first state in the country to promote natural farming by providing a minimum support price (MSP) for various crops grown through this method. In a recently held 'Manthan Baithak' on cooperatives in New Delhi, Union home and cooperative minister Amit Shah too praised the hill state for taking a lead in promoting natural farming in a big way, setting an example for the rest of the country. The chief minister said an MSP of Rs 30 per kg was fixed for maize, which has been further increased to Rs 40. So far, the govt has procured about 400 metric tonnes of maize from 1,509 farmers at the support price. Similarly, wheat is being procured for Rs 60 per kg, and the govt has announced an MSP of Rs 90 on raw turmeric grown through natural farming techniques, which will be processed and marketed under the brand name 'Himachal Haldi'. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Could Be the Best Time to Trade Gold in 5 Years IC Markets Learn More Undo The state govt has set a target to connect 9.61 lakh farmers with natural farming in a phased manner, he added. In another initiative, the state govt has declared the Pangi subdivision in Chamba district as the state's first natural farming subdivision, aimed at preserving traditional farming practices, enhancing food security, and promoting sustainable livelihoods in the remote tribal valley. At present, around 2,244 farmer families are actively practising chemical-free farming in this valley. The govt now plans to transition all 2,920 hectares of cultivated land, covering agriculture, horticulture, and other farming areas, to 100% natural farming.
