Iraq's crude oil exports rise by 40,000 barrels per day in June

Iraqi Newsa day ago
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Washington-based Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported that, on a monthly basis, Iraq's oil exports increased by 40,000 barrels per day in June.
The volume of crude oil that Iraq exported by sea increased from 3.23 million barrels per day in May 2025 to 3.27 million barrels per day in June 2025, Attaqa News reported.
On an annual basis, Iraq's seaborne oil exports decreased to 3.32 million barrels per day during the first half of 2025, compared to 3.43 million barrels per day in the same period in 2024.
Iraq and other OPEC+ member countries agreed to increase the output by 411,000 barrels per day in May and June 2025, which was higher than first anticipated.
Iraqi oil exports saw minor variations in the first quarter of 2025, as the country adhered to prior production limitations set by OPEC+, particularly given the increase in export quantities during the first two months of the year.
Iraqi oil shipments fell sharply toward the end of 2024, particularly in December and November, due to Baghdad's commitment to voluntary reduction under the OPEC+ agreement.
Experts predict that Iraq's oil shipments will gradually increase in the coming months, with the OPEC+ group of eight members declaring the voluntary resumption of limited volumes beginning in April 2025.

Al-Sulaymaniyah unveils key infrastructure projects

Shafaq News – Al-Sulaymaniyah Two major projects, a public infrastructure tunnel and a riverside tourism development, were inaugurated in Al-Sulaymaniyah on Monday. The first, the 'Wali Tunnel,' is located along Hawari Street in central Al-Sulaymaniyah. Constructed under the direct supervision of the city's municipality in coordination with the private sector, the tunnel cost approximately 8 billion Iraqi dinars (5.669 million USD). It is expected to ease heavy traffic around the city center and the nearby Kobani Bridge, and is considered a key step in upgrading Sulaymaniyah's urban road network. The second initiative, the 'Darwaza Corniche,' is a new tourism site built along the banks of the Qeliasan River. The project provides an open, natural space for residents and visitors to enjoy outdoor recreation, contributing to the city's growing appeal as a tourist destination. According to officials, these projects 'align with the Kurdistan Regional Government's development strategy to invest in vital infrastructure and improve quality of life for residents,' in response to Al-Sulaymaniyah's rapid urban growth in recent years.

OPEC+ Reaffirms Oil Market Strategy, Adjusting August Production

By John Lee. The eight OPEC+ countries, including Iraq, have reaffirmed their coordinated approach to oil market stability and announced a collective production adjustment for August 2025. In a virtual meeting held on 5 July, the group cited healthy market fundamentals and a stable global economic outlook as the basis for a 548,000 barrels per day increase in production from July levels. This adjustment forms part of a phased rollback of the 2.2 million bpd voluntary cuts initially agreed in April and November 2023, and formally endorsed on 5 December 2024. The phased increases will unfold over four monthly increments, but the group reserved the right to pause or reverse these measures depending on market developments - a move designed to maintain price and inventory stability. The countries also committed to accelerating compensation for any overproduction since January 2024 and reiterated full compliance with the Declaration of Cooperation. Compliance and market conditions will be monitored through monthly meetings, with the next scheduled for 3 August 2025 to decide on September output levels. Full statement from OPEC: Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, UAE, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria, and Oman reaffirm commitment to market stability on current healthy oil market fundamentals and steady global economic outlook and adjust production The eight OPEC+ countries, which previously announced additional voluntary adjustments in April and November 2023, namely Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, UAE, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria, and Oman met virtually on 5 July 2025, to review global market conditions and outlook. In view of a steady global economic outlook and current healthy market fundamentals, as reflected in the low oil inventories, and in accordance with the decision agreed upon on 5 December 2024 to start a gradual and flexible return of the 2.2 million barrels per day voluntary adjustments starting from 1 April 2025, the eight participating countries will implement a production adjustment of 548 thousand barrels per day in August 2025 from July 2025 required production level. This is equivalent to four monthly increments as detailed in the table below. The gradual increases may be paused or reversed subject to evolving market conditions. This flexibility will allow the group to continue to support oil market stability. The eight OPEC+ countries also noted that this measure will provide an opportunity for the participating countries to accelerate their compensation. The eight countries reiterated their collective commitment to achieve full conformity with the Declaration of Cooperation, including the additional voluntary production adjustments that were agreed to be monitored by the JMMC during its 53rd meeting held on April 3rd 2024. They also confirmed their intention to fully compensate for any overproduced volume since January 2024. The eight OPEC+ countries will hold monthly meetings to review market conditions, conformity, and compensation. The eight countries will meet on 3 August 2025 to decide on September production levels. (Source: OPEC Secretariat)

By John Lee. State-owned Rasheed Bank has launched specialised loans for purchasing renewable energy systems, specifically solar panels, with financing provided directly by the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI). The initiative allows citizens and public sector employees to apply for loans of up to 30 million Iraqi dinars [$21,000], at an interest rate of just 3 percent. The bank says the move aligns with Iraq's national strategy to promote clean, sustainable energy and reduce reliance on traditional power sources. Applicants are invited to apply via the "Ur" platform, with Rasheed Bank promising a simplified process designed to reach as many people as possible. (Source: Rasheed Bank)
