Felda cooperatives urged to restructure for higher profits and dividends
He emphasised that divesting underperforming investments or improving returns is crucial for cooperatives to benefit settlers.
'Last year's dividends have begun distribution, but the amount remains modest compared to earlier profitable years,' he told reporters after attending a settlers' appreciation ceremony at the 'Mega Karnival 3 Dimensi'.
Ahmad Zahid, also the Rural and Regional Development Minister, urged Felda management to address settlers' land ownership, housing, debt, and 5G connectivity.
'Profits must return to settlers—their hard work drives these returns. Felda must fulfil this promise,' he said.
He highlighted the need for expanded Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) access in Felda areas to develop skilled youth.
Additionally, he stressed nationwide 5G coverage and road upgrades to enhance living conditions.
'My only concern is restoring settlers' rights. True satisfaction for all generations and global recognition for Felda can only come from this commitment,' he added.
The five-day carnival, running since July 30, showcased entrepreneurship programmes by multiple ministries, featuring over 1,000 entrepreneurs and 882 booths nationwide. - Bernama

FGV informed Bursa Malaysia on Tuesday that Felda had acquired 91.73% of the company's total issued shares. FGV's shares are expected to be suspended from trading five market days after the offer for all remaining shares closes on Aug 15.

KUALA LUMPUR : The Federal Land Development Authority's (Felda) acquisition of a majority stake in FGV Holdings Bhd (FGV) will pave the way for full ownership and restructuring of the company, and Felda settlers will stand to benefit from the profits, says deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. Speaking to reporters after attending the Felda settlers' appreciation ceremony here today, he noted that the Pahang and Sabah governments have also become shareholders in FGV following the company's delisting from Bursa Malaysia. He said the full acquisition process will be finalised by Bursa Malaysia, and the profits thereof will be channelled to the settlers. In a filing with Bursa Malaysia on July 29, FGV announced that Felda has acquired 91.73% of its total issued shares. The offer of RM1.30 per share 'will remain open' until 5pm on Aug 15. Felda urged shareholders who have not accepted the offer to do so before the deadline. FGV's shares are expected to be suspended from trading five market days after the offer closes.

RM100,000 for each Felda village for project of their choice

(Bernama pic) KUALA LUMPUR : Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has announced an allocation of RM100,000 for each village under the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) to implement development projects of their choice. He said the approach of allowing villagers to choose their preferred projects is in line with the government's aspiration, which emphasises consultation and community empowerment. 'I have prepared the allocation, with each Felda village receiving RM100,000 to decide which project they want to implement. 'This is not Felda management deciding what project to undertake. Want to buy a tractor? Build a fish pond? Purchase a drone? You decide what you want; I'm providing RM100,000 for each village,' he said when launching the 2025 Mega 3D Carnival at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre here today. Also present were deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, communications minister Fahmi Fadzil and Felda chairman Ahmad Shabery Cheek.
