KUWAIT: Shaikha Al-Bahar, Deputy Group CEO of National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) stated that Public-Private Partnership (PPP) has become a national necessity, emphasizing that it represents the cornerstone of Kuwait's future economic and developmental trajectory.
Al-Bahar noted that PPP projects are a key pillar in realizing Kuwait Vision 2035 and the country's broader development objectives, contributing to the creation of sustainable value for the national economy. Her remarks were delivered during the opening of the 'Third Kuwait PPP Conference (PPPKW3)' held under the patronage and in the presence of Noura Al-Fassam—Minister of Finance, Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment, and Chair of the Higher Committee for Public-Private Partnership Projects—with the participation of public and private sector institutions, alongside key regulatory authorities.
In her address, Al-Bahar highlighted that Kuwait's PPP model offers promising opportunities, particularly in the energy, infrastructure, logistics, and healthcare sectors. She pointed out that such partnerships can play a vital role in diversifying Kuwait's economy by fostering cooperation in sectors such as renewable energy, technology, and tourism—opening new avenues for growth, generating job opportunities for Kuwaiti youth, and enhancing Kuwait's regional competitiveness.

'To ensure the continued success of partnership projects and to maximize their effectiveness in driving national economic growth, it is essential to develop a solid regulatory framework, and a supportive environment built on streamlined decision-making, well-defined legal structures, and transparent procedures,' Al-Bahar stated. She stressed that ongoing dialogue and cooperation between the public and private sectors are vital to improving these frameworks and fostering an environment conducive to successful partnerships.
Furthermore, Al-Bahar praised the recent regulatory reforms and Kuwait Public-Private Partnership Authority's efforts to streamline procedures and foster viable partnership models. INVESTMENTS IN PERU HEADING FOR MAJOR UPTURN
KUWAIT CITY, July 28: Assistant Foreign Affairs Minister for Development and International Cooperation Ambassador Hamad Al-Mashaan has revealed that Kuwait is organizing an aid airlift to Gaza. Al-Mashaan made the announcement when he attended the Peruvian Embassy's National Day celebration recently, with a number of ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps in attendance. He said coordination is underway with the Ministry of Social Affairs, indicating the airlift will be launched after a donation campaign that begins Tuesday and continues until Thursday, when associations will be allowed to collect donations. He affirmed that donations will be used to purchase food supplies like oil and flour through the Kuwait Flour Mills and Bakeries Company, in addition to other basic commodities. He added that 'after collecting donations for three days, we will coordinate with the Ministry of Defense to transport all aid through the Kuwaiti military aircraft to Arish, where the shipment will be delivered to the Egyptian Red Crescent Society in coordination with Kuwait Red Crescent Society.' He stated that some flights will be directed to Jordan, where the Jordanian Army will receive them. 'Some will then be dropped off by air, while others will enter through the border in Egypt,' he clarified. He confirmed that First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef presided over seven meetings, the last of which led to the approval of the humanitarian work draft law. He revealed that it is a comprehensive law consisting of three chapters, adding that the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are the institutions most concerned with the law. He explained that under this law, there will be an integrated center for humanitarian work, encompassing all the needs of charitable organizations domestically and abroad. 'Charitable organizations will no longer need to contact the Ministry of Social Affairs or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The center will be authorized to declare charitable organizations, organize relief campaigns, and approve donation collections abroad,' he elaborated. He pointed out that there is no place in the world without a Kuwaiti charitable presence, emphasizing that local charitable work is given priority, followed by international work. He also asserted that Kuwait's relations with the Republic of Peru began in 1975. 'We are celebrating the 50th anniversary of this distinguished relationship. Kuwait is linked with Peru through three signed agreements, as well as 13 agreements under negotiation and preparation.
