YouTube app coming 'soon' to Nintendo Switch 2
YouTube has confirmed it is working with Nintendo to bring its video streaming app to the Switch 2 "soon," addressing one of the new console's notable omissions at launch.
The announcement came via the official TeamYouTube account on X after users reported that the original Switch's YouTube app is incompatible with Nintendo's latest handheld. When Switch 2 owners attempt to open the transferred app, they receive an error message stating the software cannot start.
"We're working with Nintendo to make YouTube available on the Switch 2 soon," the company posted in response to user inquiries. No specific timeline or additional details were provided about whether YouTube will update the existing app or create a Switch 2-specific version.
The YouTube compatibility issue extends beyond a single app. Nintendo has previously confirmed that several popular streaming services from the original Switch don't work on the Switch 2, including Hulu, Crunchyroll, and Japan-based platforms Niconico and Abema. None of these services have announced updates for the new console.
The situation mirrors the original Switch's launch experience, when YouTube took over a year and a half to arrive on the platform. The app finally debuted on the Switch eShop in November 2018, well after the console's March 2017 release.
Released on June 5, the Switch 2 features several hardware improvements over its predecessor, including a larger screen, magnetic Joy-Con controllers, and a more powerful custom Nvidia processor. While the console maintains backward compatibility with most Switch games and apps, streaming services appear to require specific updates to function properly on the new hardware.

What is TechWater, the campaign MrBeast asked Asmongold to support with $100K?
(Image via YouTube/MrBeast) Jimmy Donaldson, aka MrBeast, the world's biggest philanthropist YouTuber, recently called on some fellow creators to support a cause. His latest initiative, Techwater, which has already been making waves, captured further attention as the streamer Asmongold found himself unexpectedly challenged for contributing six figures to it. The campaign, with its world-changing goals, as per reports, has united thousands of digital creators. With streamers like Asmongold being called upon to support this campaign, the one question that remains in the minds of many is, what exactly is TechWater? Here is all you need to know about it. What is MrBeast's TechWater campaign all about? MrBeasts TechWater is a monumental fundraising campaign that's been creator-led. MrBeast and Mark Rober, the engineer-YouTuber, are the co-founders of the campaign that aims to solve one of the most pressing issues of the world today—having clean drinking water. With $40 million fundraising goal by August 31, 2025, the team will offer clean and safe drinking water to 2 million people around the world, for two decades at least. With this campaign already being backed by a star-studded lineup of supporters, it is shaping up to be one of the largest creator-led charity efforts. 2,000,000 People Get Clean Water For The First Time! Alongside the duo, some other influential creators who are part of the campaign are Stokes Twins, Ben Azelart and others. This project builds upon MrBeast's success during his previous charity drives like #TeamTrees and #TeamSeas. These campaigns raised millions. Now, the team's focus is on solving the global water crisis, to ensure communities that are in need have sustainable and safe water source access. The call for support from Asmongold and many other creators highlights the high stakes of this campaign, while bringing forward its collaborative nature. Why TechWater has aimed for $40 million, and what's the long-term goal? The campaign is known to operate on tangible and powerful metrics, where every single donated dollar offers a person clean water for an entire year. Achieving a $40 million target would translate into securing decades of reliable clean water access for vulnerable communities. With the urgency being palpable, organizers are emphasizing a full-speed sprint to finish throughout the month. With 100s of creators joining in from 31 countries and 6 continents, the team has already brought in a joint effort. Beyond money, TechWater is all about long-term solutions. The campaign has partnered with some humanitarian organizations, primarily WaterAid, an organization with 40 years of experience in platinum-level transparency ratings and water projects. WaterAid partnership ensures funds will be used efficiently for sustainable infrastructure. As part of the project, as revealed by the launch video of MrBeast, the entire initiative includes drilling wells, apart from installing a multi-stage filtration system and water storage in Colombia, Ecuador, Malawi, Nepal, and Zambia. It will also address the water crisis in Jackson, West Virginia, Rhodell and more. The focus is on the solutions that remain tailored to the needs of the community, aiming for impact that can last decades. Why did MrBeast challenge Asmongold for donating $100k? MrBeast Lists Everyone who Donated 2.3 Million Dollars to Clean Water MrBeast's campaign took a dramatic turn during a live Discord call that involved many high-profile streamers. MrBeast there put Asmongold on the spot and urged him to contribute $100,000 to TechWater. Caught completely off guard, Asmongold, though initially hesitated, calling the amount 'too much,' but eventually agreed to a fundraiser stream with xQc (Félix Lengyel), where they will donate a portion of the earnings from the day. Adin Ross Suprise Streamers W/ Mrbeast! (XQC, Jynxzi, Faze Banks) Now this was not a random callout coming from MrBeast. He has long recruited top creators to amplify the reach of his varied campaigns. Leveraging streamers like Asmongold's influence, his goal seems clear—to maximize donations and raise more awareness. TechWater has a global army of influencers TechWater represents one of the largest collaborations in history. Its roster spans the entire digital frame's spectrum—household names including Gordon Ramsay, Michelle Khare, Kai Cenat, etc., to countless mid-tier and some emerging creators. MrBeast has to date actively recruited three thousand creators, who collectively represent a billion followers. The strategy here is a vast network promoting the TeamWater campaign, all throughout August, with the use of every format and platform available. The call for action, too, is clear, with creators urging them to use their platforms to create global impact, while audiences are requested to engage, share and amplify all of the related content, to create a self-sustaining awareness and donation wave. CPI (M) wants Puducherry government to drop move to install prepaid smart meters
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Saturday called for suspending move to introduce prepaid smart meters to bill electricity usage in the Union Territory. Speaking to reporters, CPI (M) secretary S. Ramachandran said the party had already conducted a signature campaign in protest against the Central government's plan for privatising the power sector in the Union Territory. Now, the territorial government has planned to introduce prepaid digital meters for an estimated 4.7 lakh consumers in the region and placed orders with a Mumbai-based company. Mr. Ramachandran said the proposal initiated would also require the consumer to foot about ₹9,000 towards installation cost. This was an unwarranted and unjustifiable burden on consumers, especially as this payment was on top of the security deposit levied at the time of issuing the connection, he said. Besides affecting the common man and farmers, the installation of prepaid meters would pave the way for privatisation of the power sector in the Union Territory, Mr. Ramachandran said. The CPI (M) would launch a major stir if the proposal was not withdrawn, he added.

Sundar Pichai's Google massive loss: Code reveals Alphabet company's secret of…, will it affect … In a major development, tech giant Google on Thursday lost its appeal to overturn a court verdict that ordered changes to its Play Store. The San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously rejected the Alphabet company's argument that the earlier trial was unfair and that the trial judge made legal errors in the antitrust case that unfairly benefited 'Fortnite' maker Epic Games. Notably, Epic Games filed a lawsuit against Google in 2020, accusing Google of antitrust violations. Following the court's verdict, Epic CEO Tim Sweeney took to X and wrote, 'Total victory in the Epic vs Google case!' What Was The Case? Epic lodged a case against Tech Giant Google accusing the company of monopolising how users access apps on Android devices and how they make payments for transactions within those apps. The company, in 2023, succeeded in convincing the San Francisco jury that the Alphabet company illegally stifled competition.
