Jordan National Team Eyes Training Camp in Morocco Ahead of World Cup 2026
Marrakech – Moroccan coach Jamal Sellami has revealed that the Jordanian national football team may hold a training camp in Morocco as part of their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking to Jordanian media, Sellami—currently in Morocco for the 'World Cup Nights' program—disclosed that he received phone calls from officials at the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) who welcomed the possibility of hosting a training camp for the Jordan national team.
'Morocco has excellent infrastructure in terms of facilities. If the Jordan Football Association approves, there is nothing to prevent it, especially since our presence there will give us a greater opportunity to play more than one friendly match with African teams,' Sellami explained.
The Moroccan coach noted that he has already submitted a comprehensive strategy to the Jordan Football Association (JFA) outlining the preparation plan for the 'Nashama' team ahead of the World Cup.
According to Sellami, holding the camp in Morocco would provide the Jordanian team with a unique opportunity to face various African teams, which would enhance their readiness for the challenges of the world's most prestigious tournament.
The preparation plan also includes participation in the Arab Cup tournament scheduled to be held in Qatar at the end of this year. Additionally, the strategy involves utilizing the under-23 team that is preparing for the Asian finals, as part of a comprehensive approach to building a strong team for the future.
Sellami took over coaching duties after being nominated by former coach Hussein Ammouta. Under Ammouta's leadership, the Jordan national team carved its name into Asian football history—most notably by storming to a runner-up finish at the 2023 Asian Cup.
Sellami continued implementing the same tactical plan that contributed to the team's qualification for the World Cup for the first time in its history.
Jordan secured their historic World Cup qualification after defeating Oman 3-0 in the Asian qualifiers, with star player Ali Alouan scoring a hat-trick. The team benefited from Iraq's stumble against South Korea, which confirmed their direct qualification even before the final round of matches.
With this victory, Jordan now leads Group B with 16 points, sharing the top spot with South Korea, who also have 16 points but trail in goal difference. Iraq slipped to third place with 12 points following their loss to South Korea.
Jordan has become the tenth team to officially qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, joining hosts Canada, Mexico, and the United States, as well as Iran, Japan, Uzbekistan, South Korea, Argentina, and New Zealand. They are currently the only Arab country to have booked their spot at this stage.
The Jordanian team, known as the 'Nashama,' demonstrated not just individual talent but collective discipline during their qualifying campaign, particularly in their decisive match against Oman, where they left no opportunity for their opponents to recover.
Sellami confirmed his commitment to his mission until 2027, with a clear desire to continue building a team capable of achieving more accomplishments in the future.

Inter Milan vs Fluminense: When, How to Watch & Score Prediction
Inter Milan take on Fluminense today in the Round of 16 of the FIFA Club World Cup at The Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. Kick-off is at 8 p.m. Moroccan time (GMT+1) and fans can catch the action live for free on DAZN website and app. Marcus Thuram is back in the fold after a niggling thigh issue, though whether he starts remains a toss-up. Francesco Pio Esposito, the teenage striker who scored the opener against River, may well keep his place alongside Lautaro Martínez in the front two of the 3-5-2 system. Meanwhile, injuries have ravaged Chivu's options: Benjamin Pavard, Piotr Zielinski, Hakan Calhanoglu and Yann Bisseck have all boarded early flights home. Fluminense, meanwhile, arrive with less baggage and more heft. They've gone nine matches unbeaten and qualified from a group containing Borussia Dortmund, Mamelodi Sundowns and Ulsan. They finished the group stage in second place with five points from two draws and a 4-2 win over the South Koreans. Don't expect them to park the bus. Diniz's men are likely to go with a 4-3-3 game plan, with Canobbio and Arias flanking Everaldo up top. It's quick, it's slick, and it could give Inter's ageing back three a long night. Predicted Lineups Inter Milan (3-5-2): Sommer; Darmian, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Sučić, Frattesi, Dimarco; Esposito, Martínez Fluminense (4-3-3): Fabio; Xavier, Silva, Freytes, Renê; Hércules, Martinelli, Nonato; Arias, Canobbio, Everaldo Predicted Score Inter's defensive discipline might just edge it. Expect plenty of fouls and very few chances. MWN says a single goal could well settle the game. Verdict: Inter Miami 1-0 Fluminense

CAF to Unveil New Women's AFCON Trophy
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will officially unveil the new trophy for the Women's AFCON on Wednesday, July 2. In a statement, CAF confirmed the launch event will be streamed live across its official Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter) accounts from midday. A promotional ceremony, in partnership with the tournament's main sponsor, will follow later in the evening. The initiative forms part of CAF president Patrice Motsepe's wider strategy to elevate the status of women's football across the continent, both in terms of marketing and symbolism. The 2025 Women's AFCON kicks off this Saturday, July 5, at the new Olympic Stadium in Rabat, with hosts Morocco facing Zambia in the opening fixture of Group A. Head coach Jorge Vilda has announced his final 26-player squad, with a blend of local talent and overseas experience. Captain Ghizlane Chebbak (Levante), goalkeeper Khadija Er-Rmichi, and forward Fatima Tagnaout (both AS FAR) lead the charge. Vilda, who famously led Spain to World Cup glory in 2023, has been full of praise for his squad. 'The players arrive totally committed. They make things easy,' he told CAFOnline. 'We've worked hard, and we're ready.' His side warmed up with wins over Cape Verde (1-0) and Malawi (4-1), and will now face Zambia, Senegal, and DR Congo in what Vilda reckons is the tournament's toughest group. 'Zambia have improved a lot. We've met them before. They're no pushovers,' he said. 'But hosting is not a pressure. It's a privilege.' The message to fans? 'We won't disappoint. These players will fight for everything, every ball, every moment.' Twelve teams are in the running for the Women's AFCON this year, split across three groups. Group B sees Nigeria take on Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana. In Group C, it's South Africa, Ghana, Mali, and Tanzania. Tags: MoroccoWomen's AFCON

Souffian El Karouani Attracts Interest from Serie A and Bundesliga Clubs
Moroccan left-back Souffian El Karouani is fast becoming one of the most sought-after defenders in Europe following a standout campaign with Dutch outfit FC Utrecht. The 24-year-old was ever-present in the Eredivisie last season, featuring in every league match and chipping in with two goals and eight assists – an impressive tally for a full-back. His attacking flair from deep and defensive solidity have placed him firmly on the radar of clubs across the continent. According to Dutch outlet VoetbalPrimeur, Bundesliga side Hoffenheim made an €8 million bid for El Karouani during the January window, only to be rebuffed by Utrecht, who are holding out for no less than €12 million. Serie A outfits Como and Torino are also understood to be circling, keen to bolster their backlines with a player of proven calibre. Despite the speculation, Kraouani has kept his head down, continuing to train with full commitment. He was spotted taking part in Utrecht's open training session over the weekend, a move that drew praise in the Dutch press for his professionalism and unwavering focus. The Moroccan international, capped under former boss Vahid Halilhodžić, is now being touted as a long-term solution to the Atlas Lions' left-back conundrum – a position that's lacked consistency in recent years, which saw many players compete for it, including Noussair Mazraoui, Yahya Attiat Allah, Youssef Belammari, Adam Massina, and Adam Aznou. With his current deal running until summer 2026, Utrecht are in no rush, but they won't stand in his way should the right offer come in. Tags: BundesligaEl Karouaniserie a
