Who is Paula Hurd, Bill Gates's girlfriend? Net worth, career, and the life she built
Paula Hurd and Bill Gates have attended various elite gatherings, including Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's engagement party in August 2023
The woman everyone's curious about ever since she stepped into the spotlight as Bill Gates's girlfriend. But here's the thing: she's way more than just a billionaire's plus one. From climbing the corporate ladder to championing philanthropy and quietly shaping the tennis world, Paula has lived a life packed with purpose, love, and resilience.
Born on April 27, 1962, Paula Kalupa (that's her maiden name) grew up far from the tech headlines and paparazzi cameras. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin back in 1984 with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
Her professional journey kicked off at NCR Corporation, a big player in tech and finance. She spent nearly two decades there, working her way up in sales and alliance management. It was a grind—but it paid off.
Paula wasn't just a corporate employee, she became a key player, leading big deals and strategic partnerships.
But career success is only one chapter of her story.
In 1990, she married Mark Hurd, the man who would go on to lead both Hewlett-Packard and Oracle as CEO. The two were a power couple in every sense. Together, they raised two daughters, Kathryn and Kelly— Kathryn's an investigative journalist and Kelly once worked with Visa.

In 2019, Mark passed away after a battle with cancer, as per reorts. Paula was left a widow—but instead of retreating from public life, she leaned into the things that mattered most to them both: family, philanthropy, and purpose.
She continued her work through Hurd Family Investments (also known as MPH Investments), helping manage portfolios and creating large-scale charitable events. But what really lights her up is tennis.
Paula currently chairs the Universal Tennis Foundation, where she works to support student-athletes and wheelchair tennis players. Her love for the sport runs deep—so deep, in fact, that it played a surprising role in the next chapter of her life.
Enter Bill Gates.
The two were first spotted together at tennis tournaments like the BNP Paribas Open and Indian Wells in 2021. Rumors started to swirl, but it wasn't until early 2023 that the relationship was officially confirmed.
And then, in February 2025, Gates said it out loud during an interview on The Today Show: 'I'm lucky to have a serious girlfriend named Paula. We're having fun, going to the Olympics…' The world took notice.
But here's what most people miss—Paula didn't suddenly become influential because she started dating one of the richest men on the planet. She was already making big moves. She and her late husband donated $7 million to Baylor University (their alma mater), funding everything from basketball pavilions to the flashy new welcome center that opened in 2023.
She's been a quiet but impactful force in the education and nonprofit world.
Paula Hurd net worth
As per reports, her net worth is estimated to be between $4 million and $35 million, with many sources pegging it closer to $35 million. Some estimates go up to $50 million, though the $35M figure is most consistently cited. A good chunk of this wealth comes from her tech sales career and smart investments. The rest? Likely inherited from Mark Hurd, whose own net worth at the time of his death was estimated between $150 and $500 million.
Now, Paula lives a relatively low-key life considering who she's dating. She's not chasing clout, not flooding your social feeds, and she's certainly not hopping on talk shows. Instead, she's seen courtside at tennis matches, showing up at philanthropic events, and occasionally walking into high-society functions next to Bill Gates—often in understated, elegant style.

Jeff Bezos weds Lauren Sanchez: Bride's wedding dress took 900 hours to make and it's absolutely jaw-dropping
Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos exchanged vows on June 27, 2025, in a lavish Venetian ceremony held at San Giorgio Maggiore. Sanchez donned a custom Dolce & Gabbana gown, while Bezos sported a classic tux. The three-day celebration, attended by A-list celebrities, reportedly cost $55 million, solidifying its place as one of the year's most extravagant weddings. So, big news: Lauren Sanchez married Jeff Bezos on June 27, 2025, in a jaw-dropping ceremony on San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice. And yes, it was pretty much the wedding of the decade. Lauren stole the show in a breathtaking Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda gown - get this, it took over 900 hours of artisan craftsmanship to bring to life, according to Harper's Bazaar. The dress featured long sleeves, a sleek corseted waist that played up her figure, and a turtleneck that gave it that classy, old-world vibe. But the real showstopper? A mermaid-style skirt paired with 180 silk-covered buttons trailing down the floor-length train. Talk about fairytale bridal. Lauren shared BTS snaps of the dress on her social channels, calling it 'not just a gown, a piece of poetry.' And honestly, the moment spoke for itself, it was the perfect dress for a ceremony so grand and romantic. Jeff looked just as sharp in a classic black Dolce & Gabbana tux. Together, they made quite the power couple - fancy, timeless, and ultra-coordinated. Their first official wedding snap? Pure elegance. The wedding itself went down on San Giorgio Maggiore, a stunning island spot right across from St. Mark's Square. It was a massive three-day affair filled with A-listers: Bill Gates, Kim & Kris Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Karlie Kloss, Ivanka Trump, Orlando Bloom… the list goes on. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trading CFD dengan Teknologi dan Kecepatan Lebih Baik IC Markets Mendaftar Undo Worth every bit of the reportedly $55 million price tag, making it one of the priciest weddings we've seen this year. The ceremony kicked off beautifully with Matteo Bocelli serenading guests with 'Can't Help Falling in Love.' Such a romantic vibe for a love story that's pretty much modern legend. Earlier in the day, before the main event, Lauren was spotted in a cool throwback-chic, all-white suit and silk headscarf as she left the Aman Hotel. Jeff rocked a sharp black tux and aviators, low-key prelude to the big wedding finale. Fun twist: the couple originally planned to wed on June 28 at Scuola Grande della Misericordia but had to switch venues last minute due to protests. Seems like the glam life doesn't come without its drama. All in all, from the couture-level dress and star-studded guest list to the dreamy Venetian backdrop, this wedding had it all. Lauren and Jeff? Definitely know how to pull off a wedding for the social media (and history) books.

Liquidity surplus alone doesn't boost broad credit growth, economic activity holds greater influence: StanChart report
Standard Chartered Bank (Image credits: IANS) Credit growth in the economy is influenced more by overall economic activity than by the size of the liquidity surplus, according to a recent report by international bank Standard Chartered. The report said that while a high liquidity surplus may support growth in unsecured personal loans (excluding consumer durable loans), it does not necessarily lead to broad-based credit expansion. "Credit growth depends more on economic activity than the size of the liquidity surplus; however, unsecured personal loan growth (ex-consumer durables) could get a fillip on a large liquidity surplus," reported ANI quoting the report. It noted that credit growth, excluding unsecured personal and consumer durable loans, tends to slow down during times of excess liquidity. This points to real credit demand, which is closely tied to economic activity, being a stronger driver than the availability or cost of funds. The central banks often respond to slowing economic activity by increasing liquidity as a counter-cyclical measure. However, even with such efforts, overall credit (excluding unsecured personal and consumer durable loans) as a share of GDP has historically declined during times of high liquidity surplus. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Eat 1 Teaspoon Every Night, See What Happens A Week Later [Video] getfittoday Undo Citing one example, the report said that between December 2016 and September 2017, when liquidity surplus ranged between 2.6% and 3.3% of net demand and time liabilities (NDTL), credit (excluding unsecured personal and consumer durable loans) as a share of GDP fell from 48.9% to 46.2%. This downward trend continued until mid-2019. In contrast, unsecured personal loans (excluding consumer durables) have shown a strong upward trend over the past decade, with their share in GDP more than doubling to around 6%. This growth is driven by structural factors such as greater credit access and the rise of digital lending. However, the pace of expansion in this segment tends to pick up during periods of high liquidity. For instance, during March 2021 to March 2023, when liquidity conditions were relaxed, the share of unsecured personal loans in GDP rose faster than in previous similar periods, the report highlighted.
