Indian athletes had mixed fortunes at the Monaco Diamond League, with steeplechaser
Avinash Sable
failing to finish his 3000m race after a fall, while sprinter Animesh Kujur impressed with a fourth-place finish in the U-23 200m event on Friday night.
Sable, the national record holder and Olympian, had to exit the race early after suffering a visible injury from the fall. The 30-year-old Asian champion was aiming for a top-five finish but had to limp off the track.
Morocco's Soufiane el Bakkali won the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 8:01.18 seconds, followed by Japan's Ryuji Miura at 8:03.43 and Kenya's Edmund Serim at 8:04.00 seconds in the 19-runner field.

None of his fault, just unfortunate.
Athlete in front of Sable got dis-balanced at water jump pit & fell off. Sable was just behind him and off the hurdle in the air & hence couldn't help but land on that athlete. Hope,no injuries

Despite already qualifying for the Tokyo World Championships in September, Sable has struggled to find his best form this year, with 13th and eighth-place finishes in his previous Diamond League appearances.
In contrast, 22-year-old Kujur delivered a strong performance in the Under-23 200m event, clocking 20.55 seconds against elite competition. Australian Gout Gout won the race in 20.10s, while Botswana's Busang Collen Kebinathshipi and South Africa's Naeem Jack finished second and third with times of 20.28s and 20.42s respectively.
Kujur, who hails from a tribal village in Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh, has been making waves in Indian athletics.

IND vs ENG 3rd Test: India and England create rare Test history at Lord's!

Zak Crawley of England interacts with Shubman Gill of India and KL Rahul of India (Photo by) KL Rahul's gritty century helped India match England's first innings total of 387 on Day 3 of the third Test at Lord's, marking only the ninth time in Test history that both teams have posted identical scores in their first innings. At 387 apiece, this also becomes the fifth-highest such total, and each of the four higher ones ended in a draw. The previous instances of higher identical totals include: England and West Indies both scoring 593 at St John's in April 1994 West Indies and Australia both making 428 at Kingston in February 1973 New Zealand and Pakistan both scoring 402 at Auckland in February 1973 India and England matching 390 at Birmingham in July 1986 Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! In the ongoing match, India's 387 came through attritional and disciplined batting. Rahul made a superb 100 off 177 balls, becoming only the second Indian after Dilip Vengsarkar to score multiple centuries at Lord's. Rishabh Pant added 74, battling a painful finger injury, while Ravindra Jadeja contributed 72 in typically composed fashion. KL Rahul press conference: On last over fight, Rishabh Pant run out and fired up Shubman Gill India's lower order hung around but struggled to lift the scoring rate on a slow surface that is beginning to misbehave. With uneven bounce and some turn on offer, the challenge of batting last looms large. Poll Do you believe India can win the match from this position? Yes, definitely No, it's unlikely It depends on the next innings Tempers flared just before stumps when Zak Crawley delayed facing Jasprit Bumrah, prompting Shubman Gill and the Indian skipper to confront him, adding an edge to an already intense contest. With England leading by just two runs and two days remaining, the stage is set for a tense finish. Historically, teams involved in 390-plus identical totals have never lost. India will hope that pattern continues at a venue where Rahul has once again left his mark. CM Mann bats for ‘Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh cricket league'

This ambitious tournament should be modeled on the lines of 'Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan', which is organized annually by the state government to provide a platform to budding sportsmen to exhibit their talent, he said. Interacting with the office bearers of newly constituted Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) who called on him here, the chief minister emphasized that the league should organize matches at the village, block, district and state levels to identify and nurture cricketing talent. Chandigarh, Jul 12 (PTI) Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday advocated for launch of the 'Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh cricket league' to groom world-class cricketers from the grassroots level in the state. Mann said that this league would also help uncover the hidden potential of cricketers across Punjab. He noted that players from the state like Harbhajan Singh, who is now AAP's Rajya Sabha MP, Shubman Gill, Arshdeep Singh and others have already brought laurels to the nation with their outstanding performances in the field of cricket. The chief minister asserted that many more such talented players could emerge from Punjab if provided with a robust platform to showcase their abilities. Mann assured full support and cooperation to the newly elected PCA team in this endeavour. Meanwhile, congratulating the newly elected team, Mann expressed confidence that it would elevate cricket in Punjab to new heights. He announced the state government will construct international cricket stadiums in Jalandhar and Amritsar in addition to the existing one in Mullanpur. Highlighting that captains of both the Indian men's and women's cricket teams hail from Punjab, the chief minister reiterated his government's commitment to making the state a leading one in sports by upgrading infrastructure and promoting athletic excellence. The PCA office bearers, including president Amarjit Mehta, vice president Deepak Bali, secretary Kulwant Singh and others, assured him that the association would take every necessary step to further promote cricket in the state. Offseason trouble returns for Browns as Quinshon Judkins arrested with domestic violence charge

Cleveland Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins was arrested in Broward County, Florida, just days before the start of his first NFL training camp. The 36th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft faces charges of battery and domestic violence. According to public records, the Fort Lauderdale Police Department took Judkins into custody early Saturday morning, July 12. The official charge, as listed by the Broward County Sheriff's Office, is 'touch or strike/battery/domestic violence.' He remains in custody as of now. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Join new Free to Play WWII MMO War Thunder War Thunder Play Now Undo #Browns rookie RB Quinshon Judkins appears to have been arrested in Broward County early Saturday morning. He's facing a charge of 'Touch or Strike/Battery/Domestic Violence,' per the county's public arrest records. — Brad Stainbrook (@StainbrookNFL) July 13, 2025 Set to replace Chubb Live Events Judkins was drafted to potentially become the Browns' lead back after the team parted ways with veteran Nick Chubb, who signed a one-year deal with the Houston Texans. A standout at both Ole Miss and Ohio State, Judkins had a 1,000-yard rushing season with the Buckeyes last year and played a key role in their national championship run. His arrest comes at a critical time, with Browns rookies scheduled to report for minicamp on July 18. The incident not only casts doubt over his immediate availability but could also trigger action under the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy, which applies even before a player signs a contract. Judkins is also one of several second-round picks yet to sign their rookie contracts. The delay is reportedly tied to a broader standoff involving guaranteed money for players selected in the second round. Only two of the 32 second-round picks have signed deals so far. Another offseason trouble for the Browns This marks the second consecutive offseason in which a Browns rookie has been arrested on domestic violence charges before playing a game. Last year, it was defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr., also a second-round selection. With Judkins' future unclear, the Browns may now lean more heavily on fourth-round pick Dylan Sampson to carry the load in training camp and potentially the regular season. No court date has been set in Judkins' case, and the Browns have not issued a public statement yet.
