Noida reclaims Rs 400cr land from squatters in Makanpur Khadar

Time of India20-06-2025

Noida: In a crackdown on land encroachments, the district administration has reclaimed 2,240 bigha of Gram Sabha land in Makanpur Khadar village, located in the Dankaur area. The recovered land, valued at approximately Rs 400 crore, was under illegal possession for several years, officials said.
Additional district magistrate (judicial) Bhairpal Singh said the administration acted on a tip-off indicating that land mafia were unlawfully occupying and selling off the property.
"A week ago, a revenue team led by Survey Lekhpals Bir Bahadur and Shri Krishna conducted a survey and confirmed the illegal occupation. While no construction was underway, several individuals were fraudulently selling parts of the land at inflated prices," he said.
With police support and cooperation from villagers, officials launched an operation on Friday to clear the encroachment. Boundary markers and signage identifying the reclaimed area as Gram Sabha land have since been installed. "We have issued strict warnings to encroachers that any future attempt to reoccupy this land will invite legal action," Singh said.
The reclaimed land, situated near the Yamuna Expressway and close to the upcoming Noida International Airport, holds strategic potential.

Officials said it may be used for public infrastructure projects in the future, such as a civil aviation training institute.
The land will now be managed by an institution, and any revenue generated from it will be deposited in the government treasury as per directives from the district magistrate. Officials are in the process of identifying those involved in the illegal occupation and have assured action will be taken.

Kshirsagar shielding two Beed teachers held in sexual harassment case: Munde; Baseless allegation: NCP (SP)

Pune: The political landscape in Beed is once again heating up — this time over the alleged sexual harassment of a NEET aspirant (17) by two teachers of a tuition centre. Though the Beed city police have arrested the two teachers after a case under Pocso (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act) was registered against them, former minister and NCP politician Dhananjay Munde has accused local NCP (SP) MLA Sandeep Kshirsagar of trying to shield the duo. Munde wants chief minister Devendra Fadnavis to form an SIT for a "detailed probe" into the case. Munde, who was under fire after his close associate, Valmik Karad, was arrested in connection with the Massajog sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh murder case, said: "Those who were holding rallies then and demanding my resignation from the cabinet are all silent on the alleged sexual harassment of the girl. This shows their double standard." " TOI tried to contact Kshirsagar for his comment on the issue, but phone calls to him remained unanswered. When contacted, NCP (SP) MP Sonawane said Munde was making baseless allegations. "Munde belongs to a party that is a partner in the alliance running the state govt. Instead of making baseless allegations, he should provide evidence of Kshirsagar's involvement, if any, in the alleged sexual harassment case," he said. "We are not politicising the issue. In fact, we demand justice for the girl and her family. It is Munde who is politicising the issues as he has spoken after a gap of 150 days, only to make some baseless allegations," Sonawane said. Munde, who resigned and subsequently avoided media interactions, became vocal against Kshirsagar following the sexual harassment case in Beed city.

Mumbai: Man uses car with ‘MLA sticker', tries to extort Rs 5 lakh from contractor, held

THE MUMBAI police on Monday arrested a man who was allegedly using a car with an MLA sticker and trying to extort Rs 5 lakh from a contractor by beating him up. The accused was identified as Shahzada Yaqub Malik alias Sajju. The FIR in the matter was registered based on a complaint by a contractor with a company carrying out construction work at Dargah Road in Bhandup. As per the FIR, when the construction work was going on at the site, around Monday noon, a group of men led by Malik reached there and disrupted the work. They allegedly demanded payment from the contractor if he wanted to continue with the work and left after threatening them, the complainant said. However, the accused returned around 4 pm in a white Innova car bearing an 'MLA sticker', the FIR said. When the contractor told him that he had the necessary work order to carry out the construction activity, Malik allegedly threatened him that if he wanted to work in the area, he would need to take the permission of 'Sajju bhai'. According to the complainant, the accused asked him to tell his bosses that they should pay him Rs 5 lakh by July 5 if they wanted to continue with their work. The contractor claimed that Malik's men allegedly tore his pocket and beat him up. After the accused left the site, the contractor realised that his watch worth Rs 2,000 was missing. Following this, the complainant approached the local Bhandup police station where an FIR was registered against Malik. An officer from Bhandup police station said that the accused had been arrested and remanded in police custody. The officer said they are checking how the accused got the sticker and if he had threatened other contractors in the past.
