In the latest installment of The Great Indian Kapil Show , the audience witnessed a heartfelt episode featuring actors Jaideep Ahlawat , Vijay Varma, Jitendra Kumar, and Pratik Gandhi. Hosted by comedian Kapil Sharma, the episode not only entertained but also delved deep into the personal journeys of these accomplished actors. Sharma later took to social media to post behind-the-scenes footage, capturing candid conversations where each actor reflected on their early days in the entertainment industry.Jaideep Ahlawat, now one of India's most respected performers, spoke openly about the early hardships he faced while trying to establish himself in Mumbai's fiercely competitive film industry. He recalled how he once lived in a cramped one-bedroom apartment with as many as five other people. Initially, he and a friend had moved into the space, but as more struggling artists sought temporary shelter, the home grew increasingly crowded. They shared whatever space was available—even sleeping in the open kitchen and hallway."We were only two people in the beginning, but then we became six people in one BHK because someone or the other would ask for a place to stay, and we would allow them to stay with us. So the bedroom of my house was filled with clothes, and we all would just lay together in the open kitchen and hall.." he said.Despite the lack of personal space and privacy, Ahlawat emphasized the camaraderie they shared and how they managed to find joy in those challenging circumstances.A far cry from those early days, Jaideep Ahlawat has now moved into a world of opulence. As reported by SquareYards, Ahlawat, along with his wife, Jyoti Hooda, recently bought a high-end property in Mumbai's upscale Andheri area. The luxurious apartment, located on the 14th floor of the prestigious Poorna Apartments, was acquired for Rs 10 crore. Notably, this is not his first investment in the building. Ahlawat had purchased another flat on the same floor in May 2025 for the same amount.According to property registration records reviewed by SquareYards, the first apartment spans a carpet area of approximately 1,950 square feet (around 181 square meters) and has a built-up area of roughly 2,341 square feet (approximately 217.5 square meters). The transaction also included four dedicated parking spots and came with a stamp duty of Rs 60 lakh and registration charges of Rs 30,000.In addition to real estate, Ahlawat has indulged in luxury automobiles. Last year, he was seen taking delivery of a brand-new Mercedes-Benz SUV , an event captured in a video that went viral on social media. According to Times Now, the vehicle is priced at Rs 1.32 crore (ex-showroom) and is one of the most premium offerings from the German auto manufacturer in India. The model even has a Maybach variant, underscoring its elite status.Jaideep Ahlawat's professional success is also mirrored in his rising net worth. As per Bollywood Shaadis, he was paid a staggering Rs 20 crore for the second season of the critically acclaimed Amazon Prime series Paatal Lok. This remarkable fee catapulted his estimated net worth to somewhere between Rs 8 crore and Rs 28 crore. Comparatively, for the first season of Paatal Lok , Ahlawat had charged approximately Rs 40 lakh. The massive jump in remuneration is a testament to his growing stature in the industry.Jaideep Ahlawat's acting career spans both cinema and streaming platforms. He gained early recognition for his performances in Bollywood hits like Raees (2017) and Raazi (2018), where he shared screen space with prominent actors such as Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt . His breakthrough came in 2020 when he played a gritty police officer in Paatal Lok, a role that earned him the Filmfare OTT Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series. In 2023, he starred opposite Kareena Kapoor Khan in the suspense thriller Jaane Jaan. Most recently, Ahlawat appeared alongside Saif Ali Khan in the Netflix action-thriller Jewel Thief, released in 2025.

Bringing masterpieces adorning temples and heritage sites to people's homes

Inspired by the masterpieces that adorn temples and heritage sites, Viswamayam, a start-up, has created miniature replicas of iconic sculptures such as Gnanasaraswathi of Gangaikonda Cholapuram, the Sapthamatrikas of Thirunedunkalam, and Rishabakunjaram of Darasuram, which people can display at their homes. 'Even UNESCO treasures such as Gangaikonda Cholapuram often lack accessible souvenirs. We bridge this divide by meticulously crafting replicas of the masterpieces of Indian temples, bringing their sacred beauty into homes at a reasonable cost,' Lalitharam, one of the founders of Viswamayam, said. The first step in creating the replicas is digitally designing the sculpture, followed by 3D printing. The pieces are then made using a blend of stone powder and resin. In this project, Mr. Lalitharam has collaborated with Swamimalai Saravanan, a student of fine arts and crafts. 'Swamimalai is a hub for the bronze sculpture industry, especially Chola-era bronzes. As a student who studied sculpture-making in Kumbakonam, I decided to focus on introducing great stone masterpieces to connoisseurs of fine arts and the general public alike,' Mr. Saravanan said. What sets Viswamayam's sculptures apart is their ability to recreate the look and feel of real stone, capturing the intricate details and textures of ancient artistry. 'We do not add any paint or colour agents. The sculptures are heat- and water-resistant and will not fade,' Mr. Lalitharam said. An engineer trained in the United States and a professional in making engineering prototypes, Mr. Lalitharam's interest in history was nurtured by R. Kalaikovan, with whom he toured Tamil Nadu and other parts of the country to visit temples and historical sites. 'This is the first time I am using my engineering knowledge for a subject close to my heart. Our mission is to celebrate and illuminate India's heritage, offering art lovers a tangible piece of this legacy,' he said. They began with Gnanasaraswathi, who adorns the wall of the northern entrance of the Gangaikonda Cholapuram temple. She holds a bundle of manuscripts instead of the traditional veena. A similar sculpture can be found in the Thanjavur Big Temple. 'It is an unusual depiction of Saraswathi, presented with the Dharjani mudra, a warning sign. This mudra is not part of traditional Saraswathi iconography. She holds one finger in a manner similar to how the Dwarapalakas at temple entrances are shown,' said Dr. Kalaikovan of the Dr. M. Rajamanikkanar Centre for Historical Research. Sapthamatrikas — Brahmi, Vaishnavi, Maheswari, Indrani, Kaumari, Varahi, and Chamundi — represent strength, wisdom, and protection.

Box Office: Saiyaara goes on an overdrive on Sunday; Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda starrer collects Rs 30 crore on day 3

The Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda-led Saiyaara has gone on an overdrive at the box office on Sunday, as very early trends are indicating Sunday business in the range of Rs 29.00 crore to Rs 31.00 crore, with chances to go higher too depending on how the night shows perform. The film was literally running to packed houses all across the board, and the exhibitors too have gone ahead to allot more shows to this Mohit Suri-directed romantic saga. The YRF-produced film opened at Rs 21.25 crore on Friday, followed by a jump to Rs 24.50 crore on Saturday, and peaking with Rs 30 crore on Sunday. The three-day total of Saiyaara is estimated to stand at Rs 75.75 crore, and the film is headed to record a strong hold in collections on Monday, as a large chunk of cinema-going audience have pre-booked their tickets for the fourth day due to capacity issues on Sunday. While the business on day one and day two was dominated by the youth and masses, the family audience have embraced the film on the third day, which is a great sign for the trajectory in long run for the romantic saga. The music has become extremely popular, and the on-ground reports are getting strong by the day, which is an early indication of an unbelievable lifetime number in the long run. These numbers have come in for rank newcomers, and it's after a while since a newcomer film has set the box office on fire. Saiyaara has successfully established Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda as potential stars in the horizon, and right choices from hereon can give the Gen-Z a new generation of heroes. These numbers are beyond historic and probably the biggest for a feature film in the post-pandemic world in real terms, as a film devoid of star-power could just hit the Rs 300 crore club in India. This is certainly the beginning of a new era, with romantic films beginning to hit the marque. If the weekend numbers have shocked you, await the weekday results, as we await the magic to hit a new high in the coming few days. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates!

Rauf Slams India-PAK For WCL Boycott: 'Saath Shopping, Par Public Ke Saamne...'

Last Updated: Ex-cricketer Abdur Rauf criticized Indian and Pakistani veterans for canceling the 2025 Legends World Championship, accusing them of public division but private mingling. Former Pakistan international Abdur Rauf has made a scathing attack on veterans from India and Pakistan whose decisions led to the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 match, scheduled for Sunday, getting called off. He alleged that the players from the two teams roam, mingle, and even go shopping together, but portray a different image of division and pride in front of the public. India and Pakistan were scheduled to play the game on Sunday evening. However, after backlash from players like Harbhajan Singh, Shikhar Dhawan, and Yuvraj Singh, who were strongly pro-India and anti-Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attacks, they started to withdraw from the game one by one. WCL eventually announced canceling the game, saying they assumed normalcy and unknowingly hurt the sentiments of those involved. 'Public ke saamne yeh dikhate ho ki hum nahi khelenge, aur saath mein ghumoge and shopping karoge, yeh unfair hai [You show the public that you won't play each other, but behind the scenes you travel together and go shopping — that's unfair]," Rauf said, as quoted by The Times of India. 'They hang around together, eat together, party together — then when it comes to playing a match, why do they portray a different picture in front of the public?" Rauf asked. 'It's not just Pakistani players — even Indian players feel it. We've played together, shared dressing rooms, eaten together, gone shopping on tours, stayed in each other's hotel rooms — we're friends off the field. To then portray such a hard divide to the public — like 'we won't play them' — that creates unnecessary hype," he added. 'Behind the scenes, the reality is very different. The fans, who come with so much excitement and emotion, are left disappointed. It's not a good look for cricket. We owe better to the game and its fans," Rauf said. WCL is a private league, co-owned by Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan. It doesn't come under the BCCI's ambit. But while the board bars Pakistani players from IPL and is against bilateral cricket with the neighbor, it's also under pressure regarding the Asia Cup and ICC World Cup matches between the countries later this year. view comments First Published: July 20, 2025, 17:39 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
