Investment depression inevitable consequence of Modi govt's policies of suppression: Congress
The Congress on Saturday said the country's economic and investment growth is sluggish due to the Narendra Modi government's "policies of suppression and oppression".
In a post on X, Congress general secretary, communications, Jairam Ramesh said India's economic growth "stubbornly refuses" to accelerate at the desired and perfectly feasible rate.
The most important reason for this failure, he said, is that
private corporate investment
continues to remain sluggish in spite of the generous tax cuts in September 2019 and the PLI (
production-linked incentive
) cash handouts.

Ramesh said the Modi Government's own survey indicates that private sector capital expenditure may well be 25 per cent lower in 2025-26 as compared to the previous year.

"These factors have come into greater prominence because of the havoc created by tax terrorism, the gaming of the system by a favoured few, and a feeling of fear and insecurity in the larger corporate world.

Joint Council to hold marches on July 1 demanding measures for 12th pay revision
The Joint Council, the CPI service organisation, has announced marches to the Secretariat and the district headquarters on July 1 demanding the LDF government to kick off the process for pay revision of government employees. Pointing out that the State government has, as a 'model employer,' the duty to ensure the welfare of government employees, the Joint Council has urged the State government to implement the pay revision with effect from July 1, 2024. The term of the 11th Pay Commission, whose recommendations were implemented in 2021, had ended on June 30, 2024. The students were terrified, traumatised, and in extremely vulnerable positions. Their families were in deep distress, pleading for help and the safe return of their wards. These students, trapped in cities like Tehran, Shiraz, Isfahan, Qom, Gilan, Tabriz, Yazd, and Ahvaz, endured severe psychological distress amid active conflict zones. The safe return of these students to their homeland, and into the arms of their anxious and long-waiting families especially in Jammu and Kashmir brought an end to days of fear and uncertainty, offering much-needed emotional peace and relief," the letter Students Association said that the attack near the Hujjatdost Dormitory at Tehran University of Medical Sciences left two Kashmiri students injured.
