In the illustrious era of Hindi cinema, there was a young boy who frequently embodied one of Bollywood's most celebrated icons, taking on his childhood roles in films that are now revered as classics. Whether it was a narrative of brotherhood or a revenge story set against rugged landscapes, his youthful visage made a memorable impact. However, as the spotlight dimmed on his acting career, a new journey began. Today, he's not in the limelight but is instead achieving remarkable success in the business realm, subtly evolving from a child star into a distinguished entrepreneur. Who Was This Actor?
We are referring to Alankar Joshi, a well-known child artist from the 70s and 80s. Similar to Mayur Verma, who rose to fame by portraying the younger version of Amitabh Bachchan, Alankar Joshi was also among the most sought-after and expensive child artists of that time. Alongside Mayur Verma, Alankar Joshi was recognized as one of the top child artists of the 70s. Why Did Amitabh Bachchan's Younger Version Leave Bollywood?
Alankar Joshi currently resides in America, where he has established his life. In a 2024 interview with Times Now, he shared the reasons behind his departure from acting. After completing his college education, he began receiving film offers again. He appeared in four Hindi films, two television series, and a mini-series. However, Alankar was dissatisfied with the roles being offered to him. He worried that if he continued down this path, he would be relegated to minor cameo appearances.
Consequently, Alankar Joshi made the decision to leave India for two years and relocate abroad. He believed that stepping away from the entertainment industry would give him the time to contemplate his next steps and gain clarity. Yet, his plans took an unexpected turn. More About Alankar Joshi
In a Facebook post by Timeless Classic Cinema, Ram Nagaraj revealed that he is a prominent figure in the IT industry in America. He mentioned that Alankar Joshi owns a company in the U.S. and has provided employment to numerous individuals there. According to media sources, his net worth stands at Rs 200 crore. Alankar Joshi's elder sister, Padmashri, is an actress and has made her mark in Marathi cinema. His younger sister, Pallavi Joshi, is also a renowned actress and is married to film director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri.

Saiyaara is second to Pathaan at the UK box office in 2nd weekend; Impresses with USD 9 million overseas in 10 days

The Mohit Suri directed Saiyaara has a fantastic second weekend at the overseas box office, collecting USD 3.80 million (Rs. 33 crore) approx. This marks a 95 per cent increase over its opening weekend, pushing its total gross to USD 8.90 million (Rs. 77 crore). The YRF musical led by Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda is fast approaching the Rs. 400 crore mark globally, with its worldwide box office tally at Rs. 373 crore at the end of 10th day. Saiyaara has so far impressed with its opening and also then trajectory. It will cruise past the USD 10 million mark in all probability on Tuesday. It is well placed to surpass USD 15 million, it could even go over USD 20 million, subject to how it sustains in coming weeks, first indication of which should come with the Monday hold. The United Kingdom has emerged as the best performer for the film. The second weekend amounted to over GBP 500K, second only to Pathaan. Yesterday, the UK almost overtook the United States as the top collecting territory, which is something that never happens nowadays. Once upon a time, the UK was the biggest overseas territory for Bollywood, but that was a long time ago. The market down-spiralled in between, but has made a comeback recently. The UK tends to have the best legs for Bollywood films among overseas territories. So, even though it trails behind the US and UAE in the total gross, by the end of the run, it could emerge on top, which will be an amazing feat. Saiyaara is a big blockbuster, and proves that love stories have an audience base even today if made with heart and honesty. The film also brings to the forefront the importance of music in the film fraternity, as the songs have been driving factors for its theatrical success. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates on Saiyaara.
