Seeded at car one was last year's runner up, Liam Clark and Harry Stubbs, hoping to finish one place higher than the previous year.
The duo would set the fastest stage time on SS1 alongside Kyle White and Osian Pryce who made the trip over from Ireland to have some additional tuition from Pryce in the co-driving seat.
These two would battle for overall honours with Clark and Stubbs taking the outright win by 14 seconds from White and Pryce.

Rutherglen Glencairn co-boss is looking to strengthen
The club are preparing for life in the West of Scotland Premier Division Rutherglen Glencairn co-boss Joe Pryce expects to add a goalkeeper after signing striker Josh Gemmell from Caledonian Braves. The 20-year-old, who signed on Tuesday morning, and is a graduate of Morton's youth set-up, was one of two trialists who played in Saturday's friendly at Glenrothes to mark the 50th anniversary of the sides meeting in the Scottish Junior Cup final. Glenrothes won 1-0 on both occasions, and was the final warm-up as Glens kick off their West of Scotland Premier Division campaign at Drumchapel United on Saturday. Pryce said: 'The reason they were trialists is purely because the forms hadn't gone through yet, but these boys will be joining us, that's for sure. 'At this time of year everything takes a bit longer, because everybody's putting paperwork in at the same time. 'But we had five of the under-20s up with us, helping us out. We had a few players missing through work commitments and holidays, but we made sure we participated in that celebration, because it was important. 'It was more about the occasion than the game, about celebrating the players from 50 years ago from both sets of clubs. 'The minute they invited us up, we were always going to go. It was a good day, the piper piping the old players onto the pitch, the Provost Jim Leishman being there – it was a terrific day, a great occasion, and something we're very proud to be part of. ' Pryce expects a fierce challenge from a Drumchapel side he reckons will be challenging for the title this season. He said: 'Pre-season has been excellent and we're ready for a really tough game on Saturday. 'Drumchapel are a good side, you can see some of the signings they've made, and they've added real quality to their team. 'They finished well last season in the top half of the table, and they'll be looking to go better than that. They're aiming for the top spot, and with the players they've signed, they should be. 'We're as prepared as we're going to be. We could have done with a few more bodies in the door, but they've got to be the right type. 'If we need to wait three or four weeks into the season to get them in, that's what we'll do. • Glencairn lost 3-1 in a friendly against Queen's Park under-19s at the Spiders' Lochinch training facility, with Ants Maguire getting the visitors' goal.

Expert shares 20p coin test to check tyre tread depth
In fact, if you don't check your tyres, you can face fines up to £10,000 and points on your licence if they miss the mark. Motoring experts are encouraging motorists to check their tyres using the 20p coin trick to ensure they are driving safely and legally. The experts at car leasing comparison site said tyre tread depth is essential for ensuring stability and grip on the roads and is particularly important when it comes to braking. Tyres with a low tread depth run the risk of increasing stopping distance and causing accidents. What should your tyre tread depth legally be? The tread depth of a tyre should be a minimum of 1.6mm and this requirement applies to the central three-quarters of the tyre's width and must be consistent around the entire circumference of the tyre. It is illegal to drive with the incorrect tyre tread depth under The Road Traffic Act and drivers caught with illegal tyres could face a fine of £2,500 and three penalty points per tyre. Motorists with four tyres below the recommended tread depth could face fines up to £10,000 and 12 points on their licence. What's checked in an MOT? How to check your tyre tread depth with 20p coin hack To avoid hefty fines and penalty points, the experts advise taking a 20p coin to see if their tyres meet the legal requirement. You'll need to place a 20p coin in the groove of the tyre - if you can't see the outer ring of the coin, it means the tyres meet the 1.6mm requirement. However, if you can see the outer ring, then the tyres will need replacing before making any journeys. Recommended reading: The RAC explained: 'Bald tyres are one of the most common reasons for MOT fails, which is why it's essential that you get into the habit of checking your car's tyres regularly. 'If you are not confident checking your car's tyres yourself, you can arrange for it to be checked by a mobile mechanic or local garage.' John Wilmot, CEO of said: 'Driving with tyres that do not meet the 1.6mm requirement is actually illegal. You'll face a fine of £2,500 per tyre and 3 points on your licence. 'To avoid this and ensure you'll have a safe journey, carry out the 20p hack on all four of your tyres as soon as you can.'
