Shania Twain calls Calgary Flames' Dustin Wolf 'the cutest'
Country-pop legend Shania Twain gave Dustin Wolf a heartwarming shoutout on social media after spotting a photo of the goalie enjoying the Calgary Stampede. In the photo, Wolf was seen wearing a
'Let's Go Girls'
T-shirt, a nod to Twain's hit single
'Man! I Feel Like a Woman'
, while attending the chuckwagon races.
Twain, who served as this year's Calgary Stampede parade marshal, replied to the post with:
'He's the cutest!'
, adding a heart-eyes emoji. The post quickly gained traction online, with fans chiming in to praise both Wolf's fashion choice and his on-ice performance.
One fan commented,
'The most athletic non-athletic looking person that exists,'
capturing the internet's growing affection for Wolf's laid-back personality and surprising athletic dominance between the pipes.
Dustin Wolf's off-season presence in Calgary draws more attention
The 24-year-old netminder has stayed in Calgary for most of the off-season and has been spotted at several Stampede events, including the rodeo and chuckwagon races. His local appearances have helped endear him further to Flames fans, who already admire his breakout NHL season.
Wolf finished the 2024–25 season as the runner-up for the Calder Trophy, awarded to the NHL's rookie of the year. He played 53 games, posted a .910 save percentage, and helped the Flames remain in playoff contention until the final weeks of the season.
His performances earned him a spot on the NHL All-Rookie Team.
Twain and Wolf headline a uniquely Calgary moment
Shania Twain, a Canadian music icon, also performed at the Scotiabank Saddledome during the Stampede, sharing the same stage, metaphorically, where Wolf shines during hockey season. Her public appreciation of Wolf adds a fun, cultural layer to what was already a successful year for the Flames' young star.
With fans and celebrities alike taking notice, Dustin Wolf's star continues to rise, in Calgary and across the NHL.

Tom Holland to reprise Spider-Man in new 4th installment

Los Angeles, July 17 (UNI) English actor Tom Holland will once again be seen as everyone's favourite neighborhood Spider-Man, in 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day.' Directed by 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton. Holland's three previous 'Spider-Man' films were helmed by Jon Watts, reports CNN. In a recent interview for 'Flip Your Wig,' Holland explained the new film – the fourth in the MCU series, titled 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' – will be a return to form for the franchise after the Covid-19 pandemic. 'I think we were really restricted with what we could do in the last movie because of Covid. We shot the entire film on stages. Now we're really going to lean into that old school filmmaking and shoot in real locations,' Holland said. They will shoot the film at real locations, one of those locations will be Glasgow, Scotland. 'We are going to use the streets of Glasgow for this massive set piece that we are putting together,' he said. Holland also said that 'playing Spider-Man is like hanging out with an old pal,' and that filming the next entry is 'going to feel like making 'Spider-Man 1' (2017's 'Spider-Man: Homecoming') again.' Spider-Man: Brand New Day' is slated for release in summer 2026. UNI XC SS

NHL Trade Rumor: Could the Golden Knights really land Connor McDavid after Mitch Marner's shocking trade?

Will Connor McDavid join the Golden Knights? (Imagn Images) In the months ahead, Connor McDavid will face a career-defining decision that could ripple through the entire NHL landscape. While the Edmonton Oilers are hopeful of locking him in for the long term, McDavid's eligibility for an extension has fueled massive speculation. With his current contract expiring after the 2025–26 season, the hockey world is watching closely to see whether he stays loyal to Edmonton or sparks a seismic shift by testing free agency. Golden Knights enter the Connor McDavid conversation amid growing uncertainty The Oilers, despite consecutive Western Conference titles, haven't been able to finish the job when it matters most. The Florida Panthers have outshone them on the biggest stage, leaving many to question whether Edmonton is truly built for championship success. For a player like McDavid—widely considered the face of the league—winning is paramount. As rumors swirl, the Vegas Golden Knights have surprisingly emerged as a potential suitor. While signing McDavid might seem far-fetched given their current financial commitments—including the recent acquisition of Mitch Marner and the need to extend Jack Eichel—NHL insider Chris Johnston didn't rule them out. 'Like, Vegas has to probably think about it. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You To Read in 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo I don't know how they do it. I'm imagining. They've already signed Marner. I'm imagining they're going to extend Eichel,' Johnston noted, hinting that creative cap maneuvering could make the impossible possible. The Golden Knights are known for their aggressive moves in pursuit of titles. If McDavid hits the market in 2026 without an extension, Vegas could explore drastic options to build a star-studded lineup around him, Marner, and Eichel. NHL heavyweights circling as McDavid holds the cards As of now, McDavid remains under contract with the Oilers, thanks to his eight-year, $100 million deal signed in 2017. But with no extension in place yet, the silence has only heightened speculation. According to Johnston, McDavid's decision could hinge heavily on how the Oilers perform in the 2025–26 campaign. 'Obviously, there are 31 teams that would like to have him but there are probably 10 teams that think they'd be in the running if they ever got a chance,' Johnston said. Those top contenders reportedly include the Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, Los Angeles Kings, Tampa Bay Lightning, Vegas Golden Knights, and New York Rangers. If Edmonton falters, these franchises will be ready to pounce. For McDavid, the next move could shape not just his legacy—but the entire future of the NHL.
