J-K: Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary reviews security, hospital arrangements in Rajouri
Choudhary emphasised that this was not the first instance of Pakistan launching attacks against India.
'I reached Rajouri in the morning. I have reviewed the hospital arrangements. This is not the first time Pakistan has attacked India...our people are brave. They (Pakistan) think that they can break the morale of people of India, especially J&K people, that is wrong,' he told ANI.
'People are standing with the Indian armed forces bravely. Pakistan will get a befitting reply. I appeal to people to keep up the brotherhood,' DY CM Choudhary added.
In a related development, civilian houses in a border town of Jammu and Kashmir were damaged last night due to shelling by Pakistan. The situation prompted local authorities to take preventive measures, including the closure of schools, colleges, and educational institutions in Udhampur on Friday.
Meanwhile, the Border Security Force (BSF) thwarted an infiltration attempt in Samba sector of the Jammu frontier on the night of May 8-9, neutralising seven terrorists.
According to BSF, a large group of terrorists attempted to cross into Indian territory under the cover of fire provided by Pakistan Rangers from the Dhandhar post. However, the force said, the attempt was promptly detected by the BSF's advanced surveillance grid.
The BSF's fresh action followed additional explosions reported on Thursday night in Jammu and Jaisalmer, prompting air-raid sirens and civilian evacuations in border areas.
The Pakistani attack followed India's 'Operation Sindoor' on May 7, wherein Indian forces conducted missile strikes on nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. India said that these strikes targeted terrorist infrastructure linked to groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, in retaliation for an April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians. Detained in Delhi days ago, ‘Bengal family' of three pushed into Bangladesh
IN A fresh incident, a family of three, including their minor son, was detained in Delhi as 'illegal Bangladeshis' and then finally 'pushed into the neighbouring country,' their relatives said. The relatives claimed that the family hails from Birbhum in West Bengal. A senior police officer in Delhi said that Danish Sheikh, his wife Sunali Khatun and their minor son have 'all been deported to Bangladesh after proper verification'. This comes close on the heels of such detentions in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh. Recently, a total of seven persons, hailing from West Bengal, were detained by the Mumbai police and pushed into Bangladesh by BSF at 3:30 am on June 14. Apart from four youths in Murshidabad, one from Purba Bardhaman, a husband–wife duo from North 24 Parganas district was brought back from Bangladesh after Bengal government's intervention. After intervention by the TMC government in Bengal, the individuals were brought back and sent to their homes. 'They all have been deported to Bangladesh on June 26 after proper verification at the local police level first and after that a thorough interrogation by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office office. They hail from Bagerhat, Bangladesh,' said Rajeev Ranjan, DCP (Rohini). 'This cannot be tolerated. This is happening every day. Despite showing all proof, including land records, this has happened,' claimed Samirul Islam, chairman of the migrant labour welfare board and Rajya Sabha MP. 'Our government has intervened, but the administration in BJP-ruled states and in Delhi are not paying heed. We will move to court on Monday and appeal to the court to produce them before the judge. According to the family members, Sheikh, his wife Sunali and their minor son were picked up by the police and taken to a police station in Delhi. The family members claimed they (Sheikh and his wife) belong to Paikar village under Muraroi police station limits in Birbhum district. 'They are migrant labourers who have been working as ragpickers in Delhi for the last 20 years. They were picked up by the police on July 18. All documents, including land deeds, were provided to the police. But they didn't budge,' said Roshni Bibi, a cousin of Sunali, speaking to The Indian Express over phone from Delhi. 'Their second child, a girl, was not detained as she was with a relative in another place. We did not know what happened to the family until they called us from Bangladesh. They said someone has given them shelter there but could not specify the location,' said Roshni Bibi. 'They worked for several years in Delhi as ragpickers. Like most migrant workers, they visit their native village during festivities. They visited here and left for Delhi just one-and-a-half months ago,' said Rocky Sheikh, a cousin of Sunali and a resident of Birbhum. Hope to live, serve Tibetan beings for 30-40 years more: Dalai Lama
Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama Saturday said that he hopes to live for another 30 to 40 years, until he is 130 years old, days after he said the Gaden Phodrang Trust will be 'solely responsible' for finding his reincarnation. He turns 90 on Sunday. 'I hope to still live for 30 or 40 more years. Your prayers have borne fruit so far…We have lost our country and we live in exile in India. But, I have been able to benefit the beings (of Tibet) quite a lot. So, living here in Dharamsala I intend to benefit, serve beings and the dharma as much as I can,' the Dalai Lama said. He was speaking at the prayer ceremony ahead of his 90th birth anniversary at Tsuglagkhang, the main Dalai Lama temple in McLeodganj. On July 2, the Dalai Lama had announced the 'institution of the Dalai Lama will continue', and his Ganden Phodrang Trust in the office of the Dalai Lama will be 'solely responsible' for finding his reincarnation. The Tibetan government-in-exile has organised a weeklong series of events to celebrate the Dalai Lama's 90th birthday. The long life prayers were offered by his followers, the Kashag (council of ministers), Central Tibetan Administration (Tibetan government-in-exile). The ceremony is considered a prelude to a year-long 'Year of Compassion' celebration, highlighting Tibetans' cultural and traditional legacy. Santosh Lad denies ministers' rift with CM
Ballari: Labour minister Santosh Lad dismissed speculations on Saturday regarding cabinet ministers' alleged dissatisfaction with chief minister 's leadership. During a press interaction on Saturday, Lad questioned the basis of these claims and urged the media to address substantial state issues. Instead, let's focus on the challenges facing the state," he stated.
