Amapiano star Thatohatsi loses voice due to 'unexpected' illness
Vocalist Thato Raphadi, popularly known as Thatohatsi, has issued an apology after missing several performances this past weekend.
Among other gigs, the Uhambo hitmaker was scheduled to perform at the sold-out Red Bull Symphonic on Saturday, 7 June.
However, Thatohatsi said she was unable to attend due to an unexpected illness that left her without her voice.
'I, Thatohatsi, regret to inform you that due to an unexpected illness, I have temporarily lost my voice and was unable to perform at the Red Bull Symphonic, Market@theSheds, and Drama Hatfield PTA, scheduled for 7 June,' she wrote in a statement.
The singer added that she is committed to finding a resolution once she has recovered.
'I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to the event organisers, their sponsors, and my supporters. I truly appreciate your understanding during this challenging time.
I am committed to rescheduling or working with the promoters to find a suitable alternative once I have recovered. I can't wait to see you all soon.'

Thatohatsi: The Amapiano rising star
Thatohatsi shot to fame with her hit single Xolele, which went viral on TikTok.
She is a rising Amapiano music star, hailing from Payneville, in Springs, south of Johannesburg.
Thatohatsi has been featured by some of the biggest names in the Amapiano scene, including Kelvin Momo, DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small, Mellow, and Sleazy.
Her strong musical foundation was built through singing in her church choir and taking part in community performing arts initiatives.

St Mary's School, Waverley dancer placed top six at Dance World Cup World Finals in Spain St Mary's School, Waverley learner and dancer, Boipelo Dichabe, placed top six as a solo dancer at the Dance World Cup World Finals in Spain, which took place from July 3-12. Boipelo represented South Africa in the solo children's jazz, lyrical and contemporary categories. Dance World Cup is a global dance competition for children and young adults. It involves qualifiers held worldwide, leading up to a final competition hosted in a different country each year. South Africa held its qualifiers in March of this year, where dancers from around the country participated. The top six dancers are selected at the qualifiers in Johannesburg and Cape Town; thereafter, the highest score from both qualifiers (Johannesburg and Cape Town) per dance is selected to represent South Africa at the Dance World Cup Grand Finals. 'I placed seventh for jazz and 10th for contemporary. I received a special Golden ticket invitation to participate in a prestigious masterclass being held in Barcelona in September.' Boipelo added that there were nine different categories at the Dance World Cup Grand Finals. These categories included: Ballet, Contemporary, Lyrical, National or Folklore, Acro, Jazz, Showstopper and Dance. The dancer noted that she always enjoyed Jazz because it brought her a great amount of joy. Parkview's community made Nicarela's Potjiekos competition successful
Nicarela's annual Potjiekos competition returned to George Hay Park in Parkview on July 27. Last year's event raised over R200 000, directly funding support homes for women and children, university bursaries for youth who would otherwise be left behind and emergency food relief. Locals showed up in droves with their families to the competition, while children enjoyed face paintings, swings and the jumping castle. This beloved fundraiser was more than a cook-off with 40 teams serving everything from lamb to vegan options, a family-friendly setup, and prizes for best potjie and best decorated stall. It was the perfect weekend outing with a purpose. All proceeds will go directly to Nicarela's work in: Supporting care homes for abused women and children. Providing educational bursaries for deserving students. Running food security programmes in under-resourced areas. Nicarela is a volunteer-driven organisation committed to making a positive impact in the community. The charity focuses on making education accessible, supporting orphanages, providing food for those in need, and helping families in crisis.
