Canadian father arrested in New York after missing 9-year-old daughter found dead in Lake George area
Luciano Frattolin, 45, was arrested early Monday and booked into Essex County Jail at approximately 2:04 a.m.
He is being held pending arraignment in Ticonderoga Town Court, NYSP said.
His daughter, Melina Galanis Frattolin, was reported missing Saturday night while the pair were visiting Lake George, New York, from Canada.
An Amber Alert was issued shortly after midnight Sunday based on Frattolin's claim that Melina had been abducted.
But Sunday morning, the alert was canceled, and NYSP investigators said they had identified "inconsistencies" in Frattolin's statements and timeline.
State Police launched a multi-agency search for the 9-year-old that included aviation, K9 units, forest rangers, and uniformed patrols, the department said.
Melina's body was discovered on Sunday, July 20, in a wooded area near State Route 74 in Ticonderoga, the agency confirmed. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into her death remains ongoing, and no charges have yet been formally announced against Frattolin.
In their release, NYSP said the Essex County District Attorney's Office is involved in the case, and additional updates will be provided pending the autopsy and further investigation.
A press conference was scheduled for 10 a.m. ET Monday in Latham, New York, where New York State Police were expected to provide more details.

Late Monday, Hankinson was sentenced to 33 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. Taylor was killed during a botched police raid when Kenneth Walker, her boyfriend, fired at the police and hit one before three officers returned dozens of shots. Hankison shot 10 times through a sliding glass door that was covered with curtains. Several of the bullets went into another apartment where a man, pregnant woman and 5-year-old were inside at the time. A federal judge ruled last year that Walker was responsible for Taylor's death. At the same time, Detective Joshua Jaynes and former Sgt. Kyle Meany, who were accused of falsifying the warrant that led to the raid, had their federal charges dismissed. Walker was originally charged with attempted murder, but that charge was dropped after his attorneys argued he believed he was shooting at home invaders rather than police. _____

Judge reduces bail for Memphis guard Sincere Parker in domestic assault case
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Memphis guard Sincere Parker's bail was cut nearly in half Monday, two days after he was charged with assaulting his ex-girlfriend. Shelby County General Sessions Criminal Court Judge Greg Gilbert reduced Parker's bail from $120,000 to $75,000. Parker's attorney, Arthur Horne, told reporters that the bond had been posted. Parker is due back in court on July 29. He must remain at least 100 feet from his ex-girlfriend. She told police that the attack occurred on May 27 at the Memphis apartment the couple shared. She reported that Parker pushed her, slapped her in the face and choked her, leaving her bruised and bloodied, according to a police report. The woman also told police that Parker, 23, broke her cellphone because he didn't want her to have the digital key to the apartment. Horne told reporters that the incident was captured on a video call between Parker and his mother, 'which is fortunate for us and fortunate for our defense.' 'We plan on fighting this,' Horne said. 'This has been a long, ongoing saga between him and the ex-girlfriend. I just hope the public will give us time to sort through it so the whole story does come out because there are two sides to this. Right now, it looks like my client, Mr. Parker, is a woman-abuser, and that's not the case.' Horne said he believed the Memphis athletic department is waiting to see how the case unfolds before deciding whether to take action.
