Bryan Kohberger will spend the rest of his life behind bars for the horrific quadruple murders of the Idaho Four – and according to newly released reports, he exhibited some strange habits during his time in jail. Corporal Brett Payne, the lead investigator in the case, spoke with an inmate at Latah County Jail who alleged that Kohberger, 30, 'became annoying' to share space with as he would spend '45 minutes to an hour in the shower,' and washed his hands 'dozens of times' per day. He also reportedly kept an odd sleep schedule and 'would be awake almost all night' and could be heard 'moving around.' As for Kohberger's temperament behind bars, the inmate recalled him losing his cool once when he misunderstood a a comment. According to Payne's report, the inmate shouted 'you suck' at an athlete on television and Kohberger 'immediately got up' and 'aggressively asked' if he'd been referring to him or his mother. Other than the brief altercation, the inmate said the convicted killer was 'highly intelligent and polite for the most part.' While Kohberger allegedly chose not to speak about his own charges, he would 'often question' the inmate about what he did to land himself in jail. As the National Enquirer previously reported, aside from his chat with the inmate, Detective Payne also spoke with Kohberger when he was taken into police custody after the brutal slayings of Ethan Chapin, 20, Xana Kernodle, 20, Madison Mogen, 21, and Kaylee Goncalves, 21. He said they initially made 'small talk,' as the 30-year-old admitted that he'd once 'thought about being a police officer' himself, according to the released case documents. Kohberger also spoke about his interest in criminal justice and his appreciation for the 'beauty' of the state of Washington, where he attended college. However, when the subject shifted to the Idaho murders, Kohberger invoked his Fifth Amendment Rights. More than two years later, he officially confessed to killing the four University of Idaho students in 2022 as a part of a plea agreement that would allow him to avoid the potential of receiving the death penalty if the case went to trial. At his sentencing hearing on July 23, Judge Steven Hippler appeared to become emotional as he addressed Kohberger in court. 'I listened intently to the stories and pain that have been shared today with great awe at the courage and resilience of the surviving family members of those wonderful children,' Hippler said at the time. Kohberger was sentenced to serve four consecutive life sentences.

Lorain Officer Brent Payne, 1 of 3 officers injured in fatal shooting, released from hospital
*Related video attached LORAIN, Ohio (WJW) – Lorain Police Officer Brent Payne, who was shot in Lorain while on a lunch break with fellow officers, was released from the hospital on Saturday. According to the Lorain Police Department, 47-year-old Payne was discharged from Cleveland's MetroHealth Medical Center. Payne was one of three officers injured in the shooting on Wednesday. Officer Phillip Wagner, a 35-year-old who was hired with the department in 2022, died Thursday surrounded by those he loved at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, according to the department. Motorcyclist dead after Stark County crash Officer Peter Gale, 51, also suffered gunshot wounds to his hand. Acting Lorain Police Chief Michael Failing to FOX 8 News Reporter Jack Shea that a tentative funeral for Wagner is scheduled for Wednesday at Rocket Arena. 'Today, officers from Lorain and neighboring law enforcement agencies lined the hospital halls to honor Officer Payne as he was discharged. A police escort accompanied him back to his home, where he will continue his recovery surrounded by friends and family. While the road to healing will be long, we are grateful and proud to report that this hero is now in the comfort of his home,' the release said. 'Officer Payne, along with Officer Gale, who was also injured during this attack, are officially on the road to recovery. On behalf of Chief Failing and the entire Lorain Police Department, we extend our deepest appreciation to the dedicated medical teams, first responders, and all who played a pivotal role in saving these officers' lives. We also wish to sincerely thank our community for the overwhelming support, prayers, and well wishes during this challenging time. The outpouring of encouragement from both local residents and people across the nation has been truly inspiring. According to Failing, Payne told him that he 'will' recover and when he recovers, he intends to return to road patrol. Lorain Det. Matt Hartman, who is also the FOP Lodge # 3 President, said more than 100 officers were at the hospital Saturday evening to show their support for Officer Payne. A video of the procession for Payne as he left the hospital was shared with the FOX 8 I-Team. 'Officer Payne is the greatest of all time, we call him the GOAT,' Hartman said. 'He is always the one picking up overtime, and always there to help. He enjoys his job, he enjoys all of us. We all wanted to be there for him.' He said the long procession of police cars followed the officer from the hospital to his house. He said Payne still has multiple surgeries he will have to go through, but is relieved to be home. Tom Hamilton earns Baseball Hall of Fame honor The scene on Wednesday unfolded just after 1 p.m. at a dead end of an industrial parkway off of Colorado Avenue. Lorain's Acting Police Chief Michael Failing told reporters that a gunman, later identified as 28-year-old Michael Parker, was 'lying in wait' with an 'arsenal of weapons' and opened fire on two Lorain police officers who had parked side-by-side in their patrol cars to have lunch. As other officers swooped in, the 28-year-old suspect was killed in an exchange of gunfire. Woman Claims She Matched With Bryan Kohberger On Tinder Before Idaho Student Killings
A woman told police she matched with murderer Bryan Kohberger on a dating app in the weeks before he stabbed four University of Idaho students to death, but that she ultimately stopped all contact after their conversations about murder made her uncomfortable, newly released documents reveal. The woman's alleged conversations with Kohberger were detailed in a police report released by Idaho's Moscow Police Department this week after the former criminology student was sentenced to life in prison for the November 2022 killings. According to the report, the woman, whose name was redacted, called a police tip line in March last year to say that she recognized Kohberger after matching with him on Tinder in September or October 2022. The woman told a police detective that Kohberger identified himself to her as a criminology student at Washington State University, which is located roughly eight miles from the murder scene, and that they made plans to meet over Christmas break when he came home. Though the woman's location was not identified in the report, authorities said Kohberger traveled to his parents' home in Pennsylvania that Christmas, where he was ultimately arrested for the murders. The woman said she paid extra to expand her Tinder search results' radius after not matching with anyone in her area. The pair's conversations included a discussion of her friend's murder in her town a few years earlier, as well as her favorite horror movies, which she said included the Rob Zombie Halloween movies, according to the report. 'To this, [the woman] said Kohberger asked what she thought would be the worst way to die,' lead detective Brett Payne wrote in his report. When the woman answered with a knife, she said Kohberger asked, 'like a Ka Bar?' A Ka-Bar is a large combat knife, which authorities said was used by Kohberger to fatally stab the four students. Prosecutors said Kohberger purchased the knife, sheath and sharpener on Amazon in March 2022. A Ka-Bar sheath, containing his DNA, was ultimately found next to one of his victims. The woman told the detective that she didn't know what a Ka-Bar is and so looked it up online. She eventually stopped talking to Kohberger, however, 'because his questions made her uncomfortable,' according to the report. It wasn't until after Kohberger was arrested that the woman said 'she recognized his photo and remembered the comment about the Ka Bar knife,' prompting her to call police. Payne said he was unable to corroborate the woman's story, as she said she no longer had access to her Tinder account and could not get her user ID. In a separate report filed a month later, Payne said he reached out to Tinder for any records related to the woman, but the dating app said there were no records associated with the information the woman provided. 'At this time, there is no indication [that] records to support [the woman's] tip exist in Tinder's records. If further information or new identifiers are found, I will request a search warrant for the Tinder accounts,' reported Payne. Kohberger was sentenced Wednesday to four consecutive life sentences for the murders of Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Ethan Chapin, 20, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Madison Mogen, 21.
