MN: Jovic shines and gives Conceicao clear instructions – 'Play with another striker'
Following an early substitution of Yunus Musah last night, in the 2-2 draw against Fiorentina, Conceicao decided to put Jovic on the pitch as second striker. He ended up scoring the deicisve equaliser, bagging his second goal in as many games.
As highlighted by MilanNews, it was a sublime performance from the Serbian, who found space between the lines and often dropped down to help. It was a match that displayed all the (hidden) talent of Jovic who, let's remember, played for Real Madrid five years ago.
He will be decisive for Milan in the season finale, above all in the Coppa Italia, as Santiago Gimenez has struggled to have the desired impact. Furthermore, Jovic seems to be working very well alongside Tammy Abraham, who has been in great form lately as well.
'I feel better when I play with another striker, because I can act as a second striker, with more freedom of movement. I don't have the physical structure to carry the attack alone. I'm not that type of player. I can attack the depth five times in a game, but not twenty-five times. And this is precisely one of the aspects that put me in difficulty at Fiorentina,' he said to MozzartSport recently.
In other words, Jovic has provided Conceicao with the recipe and now it remains to be seen if the Portuguese manager will continue on this path. It would certainly make sense to give the Serbian more time from start as well.

Allegri praises Milan performance against Arsenal and looks ahead to Liverpool test
Massimiliano Allegri's Milan take on Liverpool in Hong Kong on Saturday and the Italian head coach has said that the match 'Is an important test and we need to put in a better performance than the one against Arsenal.' However, he was proud of his team's 'good game defensively' against the Gunners and despite 'having some attacking chances we didn't take,' Allegri said that, with quotes via Gazzetta, that 'for now that's okay.' (Photo by Yong) Could Allegri continue to play Rafael Leao at striker? In the match against Arsenal, Allegri started the match with Portuguese forward Rafael Leao as a lone striker, as opposed to the flank that he has so often played for the Rossoneri since signing from Lille in 2019. Allegri hinted that Leao could continue to play in that role, saying 'I liked him against Arsenal. Him and the rest of the team. We put in a good defensive performance and could have been more clinical in front of goal but we did create some chances.' The Premier League champions have already spent over €300 million this summer, adding the likes of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitiké and Milos Kerkez to their ranks. However, Allegri was not jealous: 'I'm not because our club is doing good work in the transfer market. Estupiñán has arrived and he'll be important for us. Now we need to find more players who are good and suited to our squad.' Milan have also signed experienced midfielder Luka Modric this summer, who Allegri described as 'a champion and an extraordinary player from a technical point of view. He'll be an example for everyone both on and off the pitch.'
