The incident comes just days after a deadly fire at the Abadan refinery—one of Iran's largest—which left one worker dead and several others injured.
Both the Isfahan and Abadan complexes are critical to Iran's energy infrastructure, which is already under pressure from longstanding international sanctions.
Industrial accidents have grown increasingly frequent in recent years, particularly at oil, petrochemical, and military sites. While officials often blame technical faults or outdated equipment, the pattern has fueled speculation of possible sabotage amid rising tensions with Israel and the West.

Landmine kills young shepherd in Iraq's Duhok
Shafaq News – Duhok On Thursday, a shepherd was killed when a landmine detonated in the Matin mountain range overlooking the Amedi district in northern Duhok, a security source told Shafaq News. The victim, a 20-year-old from Mosul, had been herding sheep with his family when he stepped on the device. His body was transported to the forensic department in Duhok. Matin and its surrounding areas have long been a battleground between Turkish forces and PKK militants, leaving the area heavily contaminated with unexploded ordnance. Despite ongoing clearance efforts, landmines and improvised devices continue to maim and kill civilians, particularly shepherds and farmers who rely on the mountains for their livelihood. Iraq as a whole remains one of the world's most mine-polluted countries, with decades of conflict — including the Iran-Iraq war, Gulf wars, and insurgencies — leaving an estimated 25 million explosive remnants scattered across its soil. The vast majority of victims are civilians, often from impoverished or displaced communities.

Earlier at dawn, an explosion occurred in the village of Houla, reportedly carried out by an Israeli force. The incidents mark another breach of the US-brokered ceasefire implemented on November 27, 2024. Since then, Lebanese authorities have documented over 4,000 Israeli violations, with at least 234 people killed and more than 530 injured. Israel continues to occupy five military outposts in southern Lebanon, despite the ceasefire terms requiring a full withdrawal.

IRGC Video Explaining 'Death to America' Chant: We Call for Trump's Death and for the Death of the Presidents, Cabinet Members, Senators, and People Whose Hands are Soiled with the Blood of Millions o
On July 22, 2025, the IRGC posted to its Telegram channel a video explaining what the Iranian regime's slogan 'Death to America' means. In the video, a woman explained that the chant is a call for a humiliating and despicable death for the people who committed a genocide against the Native Americans, enslaved black people, dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and waged war against Vietnam, the Philippines, Korea, Iraq, and Afghanistan. She said that it is also a call for the death of those who have supported the 'Zionist regime,' as well as death to the presidents, cabinet members, and senators whose hands are 'soiled in the blood of millions of innocent people.' She concluded that right now, the slogan is also specifically a call for the death of U.S. President Donald Trump.
