Israel to resume aid airdrops to Gaza, vows safe passage for UN convoys

Khaleej Times2 days ago
Israel's military said Saturday (July 26) that airdrops of aid to Gaza would resume overnight and that it would establish humanitarian corridors to guarantee safe transport for UN convoys of food and medicines.
"Tonight, the (Israeli military) will resume the aerial airdrops of humanitarian aid, as part of ongoing efforts to allow and facilitate the entry of aid to Gaza," it said, adding that the first drops would consist of seven pallets containing flour, sugar and canned food provided by international organisations.

UAE aid convoy enters Gaza with food, medicine and supplies to build pipeline

A new convoy of aid sent by the UAE has entered Gaza, it was confirmed on Monday. The convoy of 38 lorries arrived via Egypt's Rafah border crossing, state news agency Wam reported. There were 18 lorries carrying food and medical aid, while another 20 were stocked with equipment for operating a new water pipeline through which the UAE will supply desalinated water to the southern Gaza Strip. Under the project, water will be delivered from the Egyptian border, Wam said. The 6.7km pipe will link the desalination plant built by the Emirates on the Egyptian side to displaced Palestinians between Khan Younis and Rafah. The project, part of the Gallant Knight 3 campaign, aims to serve 600,000 affected Gaza residents, providing 15 litres of desalinated water per person each day. Unicef has warned of a 'man-made drought' as so much of the territory's drinking water system is dysfunctional. The UAE resumed air drops to Gaza on Sunday to help the most vulnerable after Israeli restrictions on aid routes into the enclave were lifted. The UAE and Jordan carried out three air missions to parachute humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, after Israel said it would begin a limited pause in fighting in three areas of the enclave and open aid corridors that were previously closed.

UAE and Jordan carry out aid air drops into Gaza

Jordan and the UAE have carried out three air drops of aid on the Gaza Strip, official Jordanian news agency Petra reported on Sunday, after Israel began a limited pause in fighting in three areas of the strip. The air drops were carried out by C-130 aircraft from the Royal Jordanian Air Force and the UAE Air Force, carrying 25 tonnes of food aid and humanitarian supplies. The Israeli military on Sunday began a limited pause in fighting in three populated areas of Gaza for 10 hours a day, part of a series of steps launched as concerns over surging hunger in the territory mount and as Israel faces a wave of international criticism over its conduct in the 21-month war. The military said it would begin a daily 'tactical pause' in Gaza City, Deir Al Balah and Al Mawasi, three areas of the territory with large populations, to 'increase the scale of humanitarian aid' entering the territory. The pause begins every day at 10am to 8pm local time until further notice, starting Sunday. This is a developing story ...
