Turn up the tunes and let's get that kitchen of yours into better shape.
1. Washable microfiber mop pads you can use with your Swiffer WetJet. Stop spending so much on disposable options and put your hard-earned dollars to good use (aka buying yourself overpriced coffee as a treat for cleaning).
One pad can last up to 100 washes and works on pretty much any surface, from wood to tile to stone. Turbo Mops is a small business!
Promising review:"These are life changing. I used a Rubbermaid spray mop for years that I never really loved and when it broke I got a Swiffer and was using the old Rubbermaid mop cloth pads with it still. They didn't fit the Swiffer great and I decided to get new ones. These scrub so much better and pick up way more dirt than my other mop pad. I have two dogs and their dried water and drool is around the kitchen and I used to have to scrub to get that up each time. Not with these pads! I never thought I'd swoon over a cleaning product but...here we are :)." — JB
Get a pack of two from Amazon for $13.75.
2. Or a flat head mop and wringer set that might just make you a bit more excited to deep clean your floors — the flat style will help you get into every crevice and corner (amazing), the bucket's edges are deisgn to trap hair and grime as you clean (lovely) and the mop head is machine washable. (What more could you want?!)
Promising review: "LOVE this MOP!!!!!! I have been through so many mops in the past five years and this one beats them all! Very compact, easy to use, easy to carry, and my favorite part cost effective! It comes with washable/replaceable heads that trap and clean to a T! I was not expecting this to be a 5-star but it is. I would recommend this to any one that has steps, kids, pets, its a game changer." — erica707
Get it from Amazon for $37.98.
3. A super absorbent floral dish drying mat to bring pretty vibes into your kitchen and to your least favorite chore. It's a must-buy for anyone who hasn't quite figured out how they want to set their kitchen up just yet but, nonetheless, need somewhere to dry their cups, bowls, and plates.
www.amazon.com
The top layer is made of absorbent PU leather, so you can easily rinse or wipe it clean! It also has an anti-skid rubber backing to prevent sliding.
Promising review: "I was a little concerned about how things would dry on this mat since it isn't fabric, but everything seems to dry really well – and it is just so pretty a thing to have on my counter! Can't beat the price either." — Nana M.
Get it from Amazon for $15.99+ (available in three sizes and six colors/styles).
4. A Dawn Platinum Powerwash dish spray that would be worthy of taking up one of your three Genie wishes — it comes in various delectable scents and works wonders on caked-on food and grease. All you have to do is spritz, let it sit, then rinse it off! Reviewers are obsessed with it — it has over 89,000 5-star reviews. (WOW!!!)
I use this stuff constantly and can confirm it's fantastic. I use it on my frying pans and the grill pans from my griddler (which is ALWAYS a pain to clean). It loosens all the gunk and makes cleaning burnt bits and pieces much easier. It also really does smell incredible — very fresh and delightful! I recently swapped from the "fresh" scent to the "apple" one, and wow, it smells delicious. It also works great for removing stains on clothes (I've seen it remove coffee from a white tee with my very own eyes).
Promising review:"This makes it so easy to keep my sink clear of dishes. I use it constantly throughout the day. Every time I use a dish, I give it a quick spray, wash it, rinse it, and put it in a dish drainer. It is wonderful. I wish it was a little cheaper as I'm constantly using it; other than that, I love it." — Linda W.

5. Shelf liner that'll provide a nonslip padding inside your cabinets, closets, and drawers so your belongings can be safely stowed away — you'll feel like a true adult bragging about this lil' home improvement project.
Amazon
You can cut these for a perfect fit, so no worries about the exact sizing. It's also machine washable, so any crumbs or stains can be easily removed.
Promising review:"I have recently moved into an apartment with some pretty gross cupboards, drawers, and kitchen shelves that I can do almost nothing about. I didn't want to put down adhesive shelf liner and traditional mesh type cushioning shelf liner doesn't really protect my dishes from touching the ancient stained wood. This stuff is a great solution for me. It's a nice thick padding that's textured on the bottom so it doesn't slide around. The top is slick and smooth and easy to clean. I don't really bother to trim this stuff, instead I place it in the cupboard and let the excess bend up around the edges creating a little bumper around the edge of the cabinet. Makes me feel so much better about my kitchen and the bright white look says 'clean' in a place that desperately needs something to say 'clean.' I've used a couple of different types of this style of liner in this kitchen and this brand is by far my favorite. Go ahead and buy the larger rolls. Ten feet seems like a lot of material until you're filling cupboards and drawers you'll use more than you think." — Taylor Whitney
Get it from Amazon for $7.89+ (available in three sizes).
6. A pack of oven liners to protect the bottom of the oven you just worked up a sweat scrubbing clean — no need to worry about ooey gooey overflowing cheese or saucy splatters ruining the progress you've just made!
Amazon
FitFabHome is a small business!
Promising review:"These liners are life-changing! I never thought I needed them until a friend raved about them. Clean up is so simple, no more melted cheese or sauces burnt to the bottom of my ovens. I love that I can cut them down to size to fit my toaster oven. My husband enjoys grilling with the liners now, he doesn't have to line the grill with aluminum foil which he found so annoying, deterring him to grill. This product really has simplified my life in the kitchen and I love it." — Kindle Custommer
Get a pack of three from Amazon for $12.99.
7. A SinkShroom strainer you won't know how you lived without because it'll keep your kitchen sink unclogged no matter how much gunk you fill it with. You can even toss it directly into the dishwasher for a deep clean — looooove that.
I bought this for myself and OMG. This thing REALLY works. Usually when my husband makes sauce from scratch I'm left with chunks of tomatoes throughout my sink and water that WILL NOT drain — that was until I bought the SinkShroom (which comes from a small business!). My mom was so impressed she bought one, too. It's a serious game-changer.
Promising review:"I've been a fan of the SinkShroom and TubShroom, and this is the best product from the line so far. My kitchen sinks simply do not clog any more, so there's no more reaching into a bunch of water to unclog anything with my hand." — Brady Amerson
Get it from Amazon for $9.98.
8. An Angry Mama microwave cleaner to save your butt the next time you heat sauce and it explodes all over (oops). Fill her with vinegar and water and watch as she blows hot steam into your microwave oven to loosen up all the old food and stains. Wipe it clean and move on with your life!
www.amazon.com
Promising review:"I'm embarrassed to say I hadn't cleaned my microwave in about six months. It's an awful task. I ran Angry Mama one time, wiped down easily, then ran it one more time to get it really clean. Highly recommend using it more often than once every six months for a super fast, super clean microwave!" — Kelsey
Get it from Amazon for $7.99.
9. Luigi's Sink and Drain Plunger — a miniature tool you'll pat yourself on the back for buying when you're elbows deep in soapy dishes and discover the water is *not* draining.
Please note how hard I'm trying not to make a Super Mario Bros. plumbing joke right now.
Promising review:"Y'all, this thing is amazing! My kitchen sink was completely clogged for four days. I've been trying to clear the drain with a different sink plunger that I already had and it didn't do diddly squat. I was about to give up and call a plumber. Then I decided to order this one and it just arrived… it completely cleared the drain in like three minutes. So then I decided to take it to the bathroom sink that had been draining extremely slow and within a minute, I had the water running so quick and smooth again. I got the small one and it's the perfect size for kitchen and bathroom sinks." — JNeen
Get it from Amazon for $14.99.
10. Reliable Command hooks because no one has the time to drill into walls and hit nails (or at least I don't). Use 'em to show off your cute measuring cup collection, or get them out of harm's way when you actually try to cook.
www.amazon.com, www.amazon.com
Promising review: I bought these for hanging utensils and KitchenAid beaters on the inside of my kitchen cabinets. They worked well. I just put them on the inside wall of the cabinet for cup hooks. So far so good. Thanks for helping me organize my kitchen!" — Memere5
Get a 16-pack from Amazon for $11.31.
11. A jar of internet-beloved The Pink Stuff, which is an all-purpose cleaning paste that'll help you tackle all of your messes but make it *~pretty in pink~* at the same time. It'll help you revive your pots and pans, kitchen sink, stove top, etc.
After hearing what incredible things The Pink Stuff can do, I finally ordered it and tried it for myself. Honestly, wow! It really does work wonders. I tried it first on my Le Creuset cast iron pan (seen above, right) and really was amazed at how just one pass with The Pink Stuff (and a scouring brush) took off almost every stain! I can't wait to try it on literally everything in my home that needs a deep cleaning.
Promising review:"I'm very impressed! It removed stubborn mold and grime from my shower tile grout with use of a hard bristle tooth brush. It removed hard water stains from my sinks and faucets. I noticed it really does remove mineral build up, but it takes a lot of elbow grease and repetitive applications before you start seeing progress. The texture feels similar to when you mix honey with sugar to make a lip scrub, except it's super fine grit and more pasty like putty or clay. It works amazing so far! No overpowering smell (barely any smell at all), easy to use, and a little product goes a long way. I haven't tried it on rust yet so we'll see how that goes. Over all very pleased and impressed so far. Highly recommend!" — Marissa
Get it from Amazon for $4.99.
12. A pack of dishwasher cleaning tablets to toss into your dishwasher and easily get rid of that yucky smell that seems to appear after a few washes — it'll banish lime and mineral build-up and leave your dishes nice 'n' clean.

Promising review: "This was simple to use, smelled good, and I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the dishwasher after the recommended cleaning cycle. This product actually did what it advertises that it will do! Great results, fairly economical — and by the way — it works!" — Old Southern Charm

14. Rubbermaid's power scrubbing brush, for when you want to give your grout an all-inclusive spa treatment and bring it back to its squeaky-clean glory.
www.amazon.com
Promising review: "My family loves this product. I get so many fewer complaints from the kids about cleaning the bathtub, showers, and sinks because they don't have to touch it. I can also count on them to do a good job because it's easy to use. All they have to do is spray the area, turn it on, and rub it around. It scrubs and takes care of all the grime and hard water buildup. The versatility is great. We use it in the kitchen and the bathroom. The brushes are easy to wash and disinfect, and they come with extra scrubbing pads. The handle has a good grip. This is a quality product with great battery life. I left it on for three minutes as a spot test at first and I could already see a huge difference. I then did two more rounds letting it sit for five minutes each. The scent's not bad, it was fine if I had the window open, it was just being down close to it that got me. Seriously, stop looking and buy this." — Britney Phillips

16. A silverware organizer, so when you're quickly grabbing a fork and knife for dinner you'll be hit with a delightful bit of color — why shouldn't your decor continue to live inside your drawers?!
Promising review:"I needed a small silverware organizer, and I am pleased with the size, the color. What I really like, which was unexpected, is that the underside is 'grippy' so the organizer stays put and doesn't slide towards the back, which is perfect!" — wenjmen

However, they are SO many items it was too much to fit in my drawer so I put the things I use the most in the drawer and kept the rest in the holder and store them with my pots and pans. The holder is plastic and cheap so this would not be something I'd leave on the counter.
The are super sturdy and sharp looking. AND, they didn't get dirty, black or burnt when scraping up charred food in a frying pan. Cleaned right off of the spatula. Very pleased." — Bonnie Pfiester

It's surprisingly pretty spacious. We've had no issues just pouring in a bunch of fruit or vegetables, unplugging the drain, and rinsing them out. Then we collapse it and cut it right there. It couldn't be easier, and the convenience makes this product worth every penny.
Another great part is that it doesn't take up much space in our cupboards since it collapses. My wife and I are always getting random gadgets for our kitchen, so we run out of space pretty often, so it's always appreciated when something has a small-ish footprint." — Hamish

I needed an all in one, and, boy, have I found it! Aaaand it's easily half the price of the leading brand! Especially with twins (everything baby related gets purchased twice) we need every penny stretched! It just so happens that we don't have to sacrifice quality, and I really appreciate that." — Mrs. Hawkins

This plush mattress topper transformed my bed and saved me from neck and back pain — and it costs less than $60

Once upon a time, my husband and I were sleeping on a really hard Queen-sized mattress. Almost every night I would toss and turn, waking up with a stiff back and neck. It wasn't fun. I complained to my husband — a lot. "Why didn't you just buy a new mattress?" you're probably thinking. Well, here's the scenario — we didn't want to buy a new king-sized bed — and all the accompanying bedroom furniture — until we bought our forever house. And we didn't want to invest in one of the best mattresses that we would only use for a year or so either before we'd move out. Finally, one night, while I was lost in the black hole that is Amazon Prime, I started looking at mattress toppers. I went straight to the page for Amazon's Choice products, which I've found to be a good starting point of well-priced and well-reviewed products. I found my favorite leggings this way, so I figured it would be a good way to find the best mattress topper, too. This is how I found the Linenspa 2-Inch Gel Infused Memory Foam Mattress Topper: a soft mattress topper that turned my bed from a hard plank to a squishy oasis. The best part? The mattress topper cost me just a little less than $60. Design The Linenspa mattress topper has a simple design: it's essentially a sheet of memory foam that goes right on top of your mattress. There's no straps to connect it to your bed: simply unroll it and it's good to go. The mattress topper is made of memory foam infused with cooling gel. The foams are CertiPUR-US certified, meaning they're free of dangerous chemicals, and the entire topper is Oeko-Tex Certified. It's available in two heights: two inches and three inches. The two-inch version is typically better if you prefer a medium-firm feel, while the three-inch version is best if you like ultimate plushness. The Linenspa mattress topper comes in a plethora of sizes from twin to California king, including twin XL, full XL, and short queen. Our review of the Linenspa Mattress Topper The mattress topper arrived the next day in vacuum-sealed packaging and was easy to unroll. It was easy for me to carry as it's less than 10 pounds, but if you have any trouble carrying that weight, I'd suggest getting a friend or family member to help. The mattress topper looked super flat at first but then quickly expanded to its full two-inches. The pad itself is blue, and the memory foam is infused with a cooling gel that supposedly captures and distributes body heat in order to help regulate temperature and keep you cool at night. I didn't really notice this aspect of the topper a lot since I just wanted to sleep on a softer surface, but my husband and I both sleep hot and we didn't wake up sweaty so I guess it helped a little. Depending on when you get your topper, I'd suggest opening it in the morning, placing it on your bed, and allowing it to "breathe" for several hours before sleeping on it. Some reviewers complain that it has an odor because it was vacuum-sealed, but I didn't experience that. Some mattress toppers come with a cover, but this one doesn't, so you might want to order one. Alternatively, you can place it under a mattress pad, which is what I did. Or you can just place it directly on your mattress and put your bed sheets on top. The first night sleeping on our doctored-up bed was honestly pretty awesome. While I can't say it was like sleeping on a cloud, it definitely transformed our hard slab to a plusher, more body-conforming mattress and we felt like we were sleeping on a new mattress. After sleeping on the bed for several weeks, my husband noticed that my back and neck pain complaints subsided substantially too. In retrospect, I should have gone with the three-inch version instead for a little more cushioning. After several months, the topper is still in great condition and has definitely made our mattress much more comfortable. I haven't noticed any sagging or denting either. Cons to consider While the mattress topper was extremely comfortable, it's worth noting that it doesn't come with straps to attach to your bed. If you're a restless sleeper, this might pose a problem, as the topper is more likely to shift around on your bed. Also, it can be difficult to know if the two-inch or three-inch topper is best for you. After trying it, I'd recommend the three-inch topper if you want a plush feel. What are your alternatives? The best budget pick in our best mattress topper guide is the Lucid Bamboo Memory Foam Topper. Like the Linenspa topper, it's a simple sheet of memory foam. It performed well in our cooling and motion isolation tests. Plus, it's super plush and has three thickness options. The bottom line The Linenspa mattress topper was an incredibly small investment for such a huge improvement in our quality of sleep. I'm really glad that I didn't spend hundreds of dollars on a topper, especially because this one worked just fine. As I mentioned before, if I could go back in time I might've chosen the plusher three-inch option, which only costs $20 more. But we're still happy with our two-inch topper and now my husband doesn't have to listen to me complain about my neck and back.

20 Of The Dumbest Ways People Almost Died

A couple of weeks ago, Reddit user gregorygreghouse posted to the popular Ask Reddit page to ask, "What's the dumbest reason you almost died?" and oh my god, people's responses were wild. I, for one, was extremely entertained, so I decided to share! Here are some of the best answers: "When I was a kid I almost hopped in some strange man's car to help him find his puppy. I only didn't go because my little brother started crying. I thought he was SO boring." "I got folded up in one of those fold-up couch/bed things. It got stuck and I was in there for 15 minutes. I was sweating so bad, pinned. Accepted death. It was at my friend's house and we were like 12. Luckily his older sister came home and they each grabbed a side and forced it open." "I am not allowed near a chainsaw." "Reached into a spare switchboard space and touched the live 440-volt busbar at the back because someone had removed the guard." "Chainsaw kicked back and missed my head by like 3 inches." "I was given a very severe wedgie, and I had to get rushed to the hospital. It was all captured on camera and there are still photos. 😂" "Holding a Swiffer sweeper handle above me outside during a thunderstorm to see if it would attract lightning. Nothing struck me, but it took one striking about 30 feet away for me to think, 'WTF are you doing, that shit can and will kill you.' I don't know why I was expecting to be all like Thor and his hammer with the lightning coursing around me, all badass." "I let myself become morbidly obese with no exercise. The doctor told me I was going to have a heart attack any day now. Thankfully, it shook me up and since then I have lost over 100 lbs." "My toast got stuck in the toaster. I had a metal knife in my hand. The toaster was still plugged in. Fortunately, my brain kicked into gear an inch before my knife made contact with the toaster. I think about that a lot." "I stepped onto the road whilst busy talking, not realizing I was standing seconds from being hit by a bus. A random stranger grabbed my shirt and pulled me back onto the curb. The bus brushed against my hair as it drove past. The stranger just kept on walking after causally saving my life." "Joined the army." "Tried to catch an olive with my mouth. It went right down and I choked on it. My dad, an absolute hero, grabbed my legs and picked me up upside down, and the olive came right out again, so no Heimlich maneuver necessary." "I was really drunk at Oktoberfest in Munich. We went on the rollercoaster and I didn't remove my backpack. The attendant just 'closed' the security attachment over my shoulders, and when we were doing a loop, I noticed the thing wasn't actually closed." "I took a bite of a fried mozzarella stick, didn't bite through the cheese, and swallowed the first half. I had to pull the cheese out of my throat like a clown with a string of handkerchiefs. It was my 9th birthday, and we were eating at the restaurant my mom and two aunts worked at. All of their coworkers saw it happen and were horrified." "Riding my bike down a mountain road, I smoked the break pads down to the metal, hit a pile of horse shit, did a front flip, and meat crayoned into a ditch full of poison ivy. Having that poison ivy contact fresh abrasions caused a brutal reaction and took the rest of the summer to heal." "Fell off a ladder breaking into my own house because I didn't want to wake my wife up." "I was around a week old and I just randomly stopped breathing. IDK, I was very dramatic back then." "I lost my balance and accidentally grabbed an electric fence with both hands. It was incredibly painful, and I screamed because I physically couldn't let go. Thankfully, a friend was there to help me." "I ate a gas station egg sandwich, which landed me in the ICU with the nurse injecting my bum due to seizure and asphyxiation from severe allergy. My tombstone would have said, 'taken by an egg sandwich.'" And finally: "I was wearing a Halloween costume with no arm holes — it wouldn't have been authentic to have arms — and fell backward down a staircase! Thank God my best friend saw it happen and grabbed me before I went headfirst down the flight." IDK about you, but I feel kinda dazed reading some of these!
