TTP continues to jeopardise Pak-Afghan ties: SAPM Sadiq
He stated this while speaking at a seminar organised by Institute of Regional Studies (IRS) on Tuesday.
Ambassador Sadiq disclosed publically that suicide bombers are being trained in camps established inside Afghanistan and then sold to various militant groups.
He highlighted that defunct TTP operatives have not only joined ranks with ISIS, ISKP and other Jihadist groups but have also continued to operate within Afghanistan with considerable impunity.
He, however, remarked that there was a high time after Operation Zarb-e-Azb when we had the opportunity to dismantle the TTP network once for all.
Some militants crossed the border, while others transformed into sleeper cells within Pakistan, Ambassador Sadiq pointed out.
He revealed that the previous Afghan government even had considered TTP a potential threat and conducted crackdown against them.
Sadiq expressed disappointment with the current Taliban-led government in Kabul, stating that Afghan soil being used for terrorism against Pakistan but the country's concerns regarding safe havens were not adequately addressed. 'TTP is still active and its armed operatives have not abandoned the path of destabilising Pakistan.'
He also highlighted that TTP had provided the Afghan Taliban with suicide bombers, financial aid, intelligence, and weaponry during the conflict years. He warned that the interim Afghan government fears that action against TTP may push the group toward aligning with Daesh.

The event was hosted by STDC CEO Saleem Sheikh and attended by Secretary of Sindh Energy Department Mushtaq Soomro, MD of Thar Coal Energy Board Tariq Shah, Project Director of SSEPP Mahfooz Ahmed Qazi, Secretary of Sindh Transmission Dispatch Company Umar Nawaz Sheikh, CFO Sajjad Ahmed Junejo, Senior GM Technical Tariq Saeed, along with other senior officials. Taliban seek time as Jirga pushes peace
The first round of peace talks between the local Jirga and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) concluded on Friday, with the Taliban side requesting additional time to formulate their response, according to sources close to the negotiation process. The meeting, held in a bid to defuse rising tensions and restore peace in the conflict-hit region, marked a tentative step toward renewed dialogue between the two sides. Speaking after the session, Jirga member Dr Khalil said a firm message was delivered to the armed groups during the discussions. "We demanded that they either return to Afghanistan or, if they are adamant about fighting, move away from civilian populations and head towards the mountains," he told reporters. Following the discussions, the Jirga returned to Bajaur, while the Taliban asked for time until 12 noon on Saturday to give their formal response. Sources within the Jirga indicated that a second round of talks is expected to be held tomorrow, contingent upon the Taliban's reply. The talks come amid renewed security concerns in the tribal belt, with local elders pushing for a non-violent resolution and the withdrawal of armed groups from populated areas. On the other hand, law enforcement agencies launched a crackdown on the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM)'s peace march in Khar, Bajaur on Friday, arresting two key organizers, according to police sources. Those detained include PTM's provincial coordinator Ghairat Khan and local Bajaur coordinator Sulaiman. District Police Officer (DPO) Bajaur, Waqas Rafiq, stated that PTM workers were chanting slogans against state institutions during the march. "They were trying to disrupt the ongoing peace Jirga in Bajaur," he claimed. The arrests were made under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance, the DPO added. The peace march was reportedly organized in protest against the ongoing security operations in the region.

TLP worker acquitted in 2021 rioting case
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday acquitted a Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) worker, Muhammad Nazak, in a 2021 case related to rioting, vandalism, and arson, after ruling that the prosecution failed to prove the charges. ATC Judge Arshad Javed presided over the case and announced the verdict after hearing detailed arguments from both the prosecution and defence. The defence counsel maintained that there was no solid evidence linking Nazak to the incident in question and requested the court to acquit him. The prosecution, however, opposed the plea, arguing that enough material was available to proceed. After reviewing the case record and arguments, the court ruled in favour of the defence and acquitted the accused. Muhammad Nazak had been declared a proclaimed offender in the case and remained on the run for three years. He was currently on interim bail and appeared in court for the hearing. The FIR was registered at Sherakot Police Station in 2021 against several TLP workers in connection with violent protests led by the party. The charges included rioting, vandalism, and arson under the Anti-Terrorism Act. Several other co-accused in the case were previously acquitted in earlier court proceedings.
