Jonesboro repeats as 1A State Champions
The Lady Eagles came out of the gates hot, taking a five-run lead in the top of the third.
Brookeland didn't back down, slowly chipping away at the lead in the next two innings to tie the ballgame at five before taking an 8-5 lead in the fifth.
Jonesboro responded in the next frame, with back-to-back doubles from Ally Thorman and Ella Gustin helping give the Lady Eagles the lead right back, 9-8 heading into the bottom of the sixth.
Ally Thorman held it down in the circle from there, allowing just one hit in the final two innings and getting the final out to clinch back-to-back state championships for the Lady Eagles.
Ella Gustin finished as 1A State MVP, going 2-4 with 3 RBI's on the day.
After securing their first state championship in 2024, the Lady Eagles are now two-time state champs and finish the 2025 campaign with a 19-10-1 record.
